It was a once in a lifetime experience!"It is printed in his Journal of Discourses so is okay to type here:President Young said: “Let me give you the definition in brief. Your endowment is, to receive all those ordinances
in the House of the Lord, which are necessary for you,
after you have departed this life,
to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father,
passing the angels who stand as sentinels,
being enabled to give them the key words, the signs and tokens,
pertaining to the Holy Priesthood, and gain your eternal exaltation
in spite of earth and hell.”

Then Rigdon got a big one, too.
Julie drove us over to the SpringsideElementary School for the drived-through Jack-o-Lanterndisplay but the line of cars wasso long, she drove us over to Harvest Hills to see a spectacularHalloween scene in someone's yard. (I'll get the photo she took of it.)Then we went back over to Riggy'sschool to see if the lines were shorterfor the Jack-O-Lantern display. They were longer! It was 8:30 bynow, so we just went on home.***Wednesday is movie nightwith Gary..."The Phantom of the Opera is a 1925 American silent horror film adaptation of Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra, directed by Rupert Julian and starring Lon Chaney in the title role of the deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House, causing murder and mayhem in an attempt to make the woman he loves a star. The film remains most famous for Chaney's ghastly, self-devised make-up, which was kept a studio secret until the film's premiere. The film was released on November 25, 1925."THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2020

Let's go hunt, doo, doo,…"....I think there are three more verses it didn't even show.on Friday. The main thing I did today was V O T E.Julie and John took my ballot over with theirs to put in the Ballot Vote Box.This photo of me with Walt's cousin DeLamar Jensen and his daughter, Christine Peters is from Saturday, October 31. Since so much else was going on Saturday, I'm going to post this here.DeLamar had his 95th birthday in April. Christine who has been a widow for several years (I can't remember if she old me 8 or 12) raised her family in Samoa. She stayed their four more years after her husband passed away. Then she moved to Utah to help her elderly parents who live in Provo. Dee is the cousin who had an airplane and would give Walt and his brother and sisters rides in that airplane when Ray and Jane took their family to Buhl to visit them. Ray's Dad, Andrew Petersen, was the brother of Dee's mother, Johanna Petersen Jensen. His Dad was Jacob Jensen. Not only did Dee have an airplane, he built model airplanes, which Walt was enamored with. Many of them Dee had hanging from his bedroom ceiling.I think I'll copy what Walt had to say about this beloved cousin in the letter he wrote for his 95th birthday. Christine wrote to family and friends to share their experiences with DeLamar, hoping she could get 95 responses for his 95 years. She actually got 105, and compiled them in to a book for her Dad, by "family, friends, ward friends, BYU professor colleagues, missionaries--from when Dee was president of the Peru Arequipa (?sp) Mission--Machu Picchu was in that mission."Here's Walt's memories of his cousin... I can't find where I've filed it in the computer. But I did find a short biography of Dee's life:
De Lamar Jensen was born
and reared in Idaho. After graduating from high school, he entered the Army Air
Forces and served as a fighter pilot and later as a B—29 flight engineer during
World War Il. At the end of the war, he enrolled at Brigham Young University
for one year. Returning to Idaho, he taught physics and aeronautics in high
school until 1947 when he was called to serve a mission in Mexico and Guatemala
for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On his mission his life
made an abrupt turn with the discovery that he preferred history and languages
to science and mathematics.
Returning to BYU, Dr. Jensen
completed a B.A. degree in history in 1952. He then spent five years in New
York City, where he studied modern European history with a minor in Latin
American history at Columbia University under the distinguished professor
Garrett
Mattingly. He received an
M.A. degree in 1953 and a Ph.D. in 1957.
Since Dr. Jensen joined
the BYU faculty in 1957, he has taught nearly every European history course
offered, as well as courses in U.S. and Latin American history. He specializes
in the Renaissance, the Reformation, the overseas expansion of Europe, European

history, and early modern diplomacy.
Professor Jensen was chair of the History Department from 1967 to 1972, and he
has directed or codirected six Study Abroad programs in Mexico and Europe.
Professor Jensen has been awarded numerous fellowships
and research grants, including an Institute of International Education
Fellowship to Spain and France in 1956; a Rockefeller Foundation Research Grant
to France in 1964; a National Endowment for the Humanities Research
Grant to Europe, 1970—71; a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship
to
Europe, 1979—80; and a David M. Kennedy
Center for International Studies Grant for research in Spain and England in
1988. In 1977 he gave the Distinguished Faculty Lecture at Brigham Young
University entitled "Reflections from a Renaissance Treasury. '
Professor Jensen is cofounder and director of the
International Organization of Historians of Early Modern Europe and was general
editor of its newsletter/ bulletin from 1965 to 1979. He served as a
contributing editor for the newsletter of the National Foundation for
Reformation Research, on the editorial committee of the Sixteenth Century
Journal, as editor of Forums in History, and on a national committee of the
Sixteenth-Century Studies Conference. Professor Jensen has presented more than
40 lectures and papers at national and international conferences.
Professor Jensen's extensive research in European
archives and libraries has resulted in the publication of a number of books,
including Renaissance Europe: Age of Recovery and Reconciliation (1981; 2d ed.,
1992); Reformation Europe: Age of Reform and Revolution (1981; 2d ed., 1992);
Confrontation at Worms: Martin Luther and the Diet of Worms (1973); and
Diplomacy and Dogmatism:
Bernardino de Mendoza and the French Catholic League (1964).
Professor Jensen has also
edited The Expansion of Europe: Motives,
Methods and Meanings (1967) and
Machiavelli: Cynic, Patriot, or Political Scientist? (1960). In addition, he
has published 25 articles in a variety of national and international journals,
a number of chapters in books, and over 50 book reviews.
From 1980 to 1983, Dr.
Jensen served as president of the LDS Peru Arequipa Mission. After returning to
BYU, Dr. Jensen became dean of the University Honors Program during a
significant period of its development. Professor Jensen, although officially
retired, is teaching a course this semester on "The Overseas Expansion of
Europe. " He is also writing several articles on Columbus and is serving
as chair of the BYU Columbus Quincentennial Committee. Professor Jensen is
married to Mary White, and they are the parents of five children.

Dee also paints. He was painting this for Walt and me and is so sad that he did'nt finish it before Walt passed away. It's the famous pyramid, "Kuklucan" Chichen Itza in the Yucatan Peninsula. Walt and I almost became "honorary tour guides" there because the General Authorities who visited our Mexico Merida Mission wanted to go there. When President Hinckley came to our Mission in November 1997, he and Sister Hinckley, their daughter Virginia, along with Elder and Sister L. Tom Perry, went there.

Date of Service: Nov. 5, 2020
BURLEY – Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Darrell
Marlin Roskelley, 73, of Burley, Idaho, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020,
due to a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed away surrounded by his
wife and three daughters.
Darrell was born October 21, 1947, in Logan, Utah, to Marlin Corbett Roskelley
and Luella Walker. He was welcomed by four older sisters. He was raised in the
home his parents built in Smithfield, Utah. He attended school at North Cache
High, and graduated from Sky View High School in 1965; the first graduating
class of the new high school. He attended Utah State University graduating with
a bachelor’s degree in education. Darrell served a full-time mission to South
East Mexico. He struggled to learn a new language; however, once he became
fluent in Spanish, it became a skill he would use throughout his life.
Darrell’s mother had her eye on a cute neighbor girl. Upon his mother’s urging,
he called Mary Ann Pehrson and asked her out. They began dating Mary Ann’s
senior year of high school, 1969. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan
Utah Temple on March 19, 1971.
Darrell and Mary Ann lived in Smithfield, Utah, while completing their
education. It was here they welcomed their two oldest daughters. Upon
graduation from college, Darrell found employment with Del Monte Corporation in
Smithfield, Utah. Three years later, in 1977, Del Monte transferred them to
Burley. While in Burley, they welcomed their third daughter. Darrell worked as
a fieldman and later as the warehouse supervisor for Del Monte in Burley. After
19 years of working for Del Monte, the Burley plant was closed. He was then
appointed Cassia County Clerk. He served in this capacity for nine years. He
then found employment as the 5th Judicial Drug Court Coordinator, covering
eight counties. This is where he discovered his true passion, helping others to
change their lives.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Darrell
served in many capacities. His church callings ranged from counselor in the
bishopric, bishop, high councilor, and serving in the Spanish Branch. He found
his greatest joy in serving with the youth. He served in the Park Avenue YSA
Branch, and enjoyed teaching a youth Sunday School class with his wife. He also
worked with the youth when he was called as a CES missionary with his
sweetheart to the Texas Fort Worth Mission. He was recently released as elders
quorum president of the Burley 3rd Ward. At the time of his death, he was
serving as a temple worker in the Twin Falls Idaho Temple.
Fly tying, hunting, fishing, spending time in the outdoors and with family were
some of his favorite hobbies. His three daughters were the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Burley; his children, Jennifer Kennedy
(Bryon) of Rexburg, Lori Ann Harris (Michael) of Burley, and Alyson
Christianson (Jared) of Jerome; 11 grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Lou
West of Nibley, Utah, and Arlene Hall of Wellsville, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Helen Burger and
Camilla Biddle.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 5, at The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Burley Third Ward, located at 2200 Oakley
Ave., in Burley. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Smithfield City
Cemetery, 300 E. Center St., in Smithfield, Utah.
Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, at Rasmussen-Wilson
Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and at the church on Thursday, from
9 until 9:45 a.m.
The Roskelley family would to thank the caretakers of Intermountain Homecare
& Hospice for the loving care that was given to Darrell.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the wearing of a face mask and social distancing
is required.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the General Missionary Fund of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through your local ward or branch.
