Movie night with Gary.
We're watching old monster movies for Oct. Tonight we watched "Creature from the
Black Lagoon."
they made this from the 1950s. It had two sequels in 1955 and 1956. "The Shape of Water" that was the "best picture" of 2017 was based on this old movie. Gary remembers how scared
he was in this movie as a
little boy.

The Duck River runs right behind their home. From there we drove to Bell BuckleBell Buckle, Tennessee
A Small Town Treasure
The small town of Bell Buckle is just an hour south of Nashville.
It's home to vast antique shopping, Tennessee history, and home to the famously
annual RC &
Moon Pie Festival. The event attracts thousands each June with live
entertainment, arts and crafts, RC & Moon Pie Games, and the cutting of the
world's largest moon pie.
Bell Buckle is
a town in Bedford County, Tennessee, United States. The
population was 500 at the 2010 census.[5] The downtown area is
listed on the National
Register of Historic Places as the Bell Buckle Historic
District.
As of 2018 the population is listed at 541.
From Wikipedia: History “The origin of the town's unusual name is not known…one story
says that one of the first white men to travel through the area found a tree
with carvings of a cowbell and
a buckle,
possibly carved by Indians to
warn white settlers away, or possibly carved by surveyors to
mark the area as good pasture. Another
form of the legend holds that a bell and buckle were tied around a tree. In any
case, the nearby creek was named Bell Buckle Creek, and the town later took the
name of the creek. It was incorporated in 1856."

Emma also suggested to her Dad that thisis one of the highlights of downtown Nashville. I can't pronounce thename of it. Julie said Jen just called it the "Sky Bridge."This is what we first saw from the parking lot for the Tennessee Titans Football Stadium:A view from the river at dusk:Another view...the bridge wewalked on is that one behindthe big arch...it has threearches...Info from Wikipedia:"The John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge (previously
called the Shelby Street Bridge or Shelby Avenue
Bridge) is a truss
bridge that spans the Cumberland
River in Nashville, Tennessee, United
States. The bridge spans 960 meters (3,150 ft) and
is one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world.
Early
history
Early history
The
bridge construction began in 1907 and finished in 1909 at a cost of about $475,000. The substructure of the bridge was light grey
concrete, and the superstructure was made of steel that had been painted
black.
The bridge was the first in North America to have concrete
arched trusses.
The bridge was designed and construction was supervised by
Howard M. Jones, the chief office engineer of the Nashville, Chattanooga and
St. Louis Railway.
National
Register of Historic Places
In 1998 the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge was admitted to
the National Register of Historic
Places, due mainly to the unique truss design.
Closure and
reopening
State inspectors declared the bridge to be in "poor"
condition in 1992, and the bridge was closed to vehicular traffic in 1998. The
bridge was originally slated for demolition. However, due to aesthetic,
architectural, and historical considerations, it was decided that it should be
converted to a pedestrian bridge rather than be demolished.
The refurbishment of the bridge cost in excess of $15 million."
