Traces of Time . . .
(To see last week's blog post--scroll down to the end of this week, then
the Week of August 19-25, 2019 will be there.
If it's not, hit "Older Posts." at the bottom right.)
THIS WEEK-
AUGUST 26-September 1, 2019
Last Week of august...

Family is Everything…
I had not heard of the "Cobra Effect." It
was interesting to read about it in the
August Ensign. I recommend it
on page 36.
It's a great article by Elder Lynn G. Robbins

We went to the club house
this late afternoon...
  ...and bicycled for 20 minutes.
It is good to move around.
We read the Come, Follow Me lessons for last week: August 19-25:  1  Corinthians 1-7 "Be Perfectly Joined Together"...
"

and for this week 1 Corinthians 8-13: "Ye Are the Body of Christ."
Walt likes to play checkers to
help his brain keep working.
I won the first game,
he won the second game.

Family is Everything…
  Marci here...
Maddie keeps up with her
online school work each day...
their new Lake Mountain
Middle School building is to be
ready for them on Sept. 10.
We can see it out the kitchen window
across Redwood Road.
We bicycled today...
Yes...another 20 minutes.

Family is Everything...
I saw this on face book today...
This is how Julie and Steve feel
about Dr. Pepper....and maybe
some of our other kids
and grandkids.
Walt had an appointment with Dr. Bryce Swensen today in Provo at the Utah Home Health and Hospice Revere Health Office.

 Dr. Swensen answered seven
questions Walt had about his
current health concerns.
Then the doctor injected Walt's
knees which are just bone-on-bone.

We were thankful for Karen,
Walt's Utah Home Care
and Hospice nurse,
being there with us.

We stopped for a late lunch
at Arctic Circle on the
way back home.

We look forward to
                      our Wednesday nights with Gary.
We watched "Citizen Kane" tonight.
Citizen Kane is a 1941 American film by Orson Welles, its producer, co-screenwriter, director and star.  Nominated for Academy Awards in nine categories, Considered by many critics, filmmakers, and fans to be the greatest film ever made, The quasi-biographical film examines the life and legacy of Charles Foster Kane, played by Welles, a character based in part upon the American newspaper magnates William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer, Chicago tycoons Samuel Insull and Harold McCormick, and aspects of the screenwriters' own lives. Upon its release, Hearst prohibited mention of the film in any of his newspapers.
From flashbacks it seeks to solve the mystery of the newspaper magnate's
 dying word: "Rosebud".
We look forward now to the September movies. We have chosen to feature Fred Astair.

Family is Everything...
We just received word that our dear friend
and neighbor in Burley, Idaho,
 Bonnie Hansen, passed away
this morning. She was truly an "Elect Lady."
Her funeral will be Tuesday, September 3,
at 1:00 p.m. at the Burley 3rd Ward.
Will someone please send us
her obituary.

Marci helped Walt start the day.
 Bicycling again...

 Walt...
We wore our BYU blue...

College football begins...
BYU 2019 football season begins...
We had high hopes...

...but they were dashed by the
30-12 loss to Utah.
We can just hope for better
games and wins to come.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 30, 2019
Family is Everything…
We love our drive over to the
club house...about 7 minutes
through our residential area.
We have enjoyed watching this
home be built.
It is right next to Utah Lake.
This part of our residential area
                      is called "Wiltshire Estates."
 We bicycled today for...
 ...thirty minutes!
Walt's knees are in better
shape after the injections
in them this week.
 We are making good use
of the great stationary bikes.

We drove around this home again
on our way back to see if the
electrical wiring to heat the
driveway is covered yet.
Part of it has been covered.

Family is Everything…
Walt's just been dx'd with Shingles.
These red splotches started yesterday, but Walt thought they would just go away. Karen, his Utah Home Care and Hospice nurse, just came and dx'd them with confirmation from her Director of Nurses. (Dr. Bryce Swensen, head physician of UHCH, is running a race somewhere, so he didn't see the photos yet.)
T
Karen has called in a Rx for them...
Acyclovir 800 mg (equivalent
for Zovirex) to take
5 a day for 7 days,
plus some topical cream.
We hope they're the kind of Shingles
that go away.
Walt has no pain nor itching with them...yet.
His comment: "One. More. Thing!"

Family is Everything…
We were buoyed up by the eight
testimonies shared today in our
Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward.
I was among those who shared
testimony today. Even though we
share our testimony each Sunday
on our blog, I had not shared mine
in our ward since last September,
when we had just moved here.
Gospel Doctrine Class today...
Sister Vivien Oramos did a great
job in illustrating the main core
of the lesson from 1 Corinthians 8-13
by having each class member share
a spiritual gift they have.
Her goal was to show the diversity
of each class member but the
unity of the whole...
"body of Christ."
She succeeded!
Brilliant! Inspired!
When I asked Walt what
"gift of the Spirit he had
that he wanted to share," he
said that "he didn't have any."
When it was our turn I said that
Walt's gift of the Spirit was
"Wisdom," and "that his
patriarchal blessing said that
many would seek his counsel,"
and that has been true.
I shared that my gift of the Spirit
was "faith, as was my mother's gift."
My cell phone battery was dead
so I didn't get a photo of another
delicious Sunday roast beef dinner
cooked by John.
It was wonderful, as always!
Thanks, John!
Gary came and brought us
Sunday dessert of
Strawberry shortcake.
Delicious! Thanks, Gary!
And also I took a photo of Walt
and Gary together on his phone camera.
Later tonight, Steve and Carter
came over.  I didn't get a photo with
Steve, but here's Carter when he
came in to talk to us.
He has invited us to come to his
being ordained an Elder next Sunday.
He said they've been busy getting
all the paper work done to send
his passport in to obtain his Visa
to enter Brazil for his entering
the MTC Oct. 30 in Sao Palo.

We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.

At the end of this September 1st,
we pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
We testify that there are Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ on the earth now...

The First Presidency
President Russell M. Nelson,
President Henry B. Eyring
President Dallin H. Oaks
and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
are Prophets, Seers, and Revelators...
Elders M. Russell Ballard, Jeffrey R. Holland,
Dieter F. Uchtdorf, David B. Bednar, Quentin L. Cook, D. Todd Christofferson, Neil L. Andersen,
Ronald A. Rasband, Gary E. Stevenson,
Dale G. Renlund, Gerrit W. Gong, Ulisses Soares

THE QUORUM OF THE TWELVE APOSTLES is the second-highest governing body in the Church (the First Presidency being the highest). Apostles are special witnesses of Jesus Christ, called to teach and testify of Him throughout the world.
They travel frequently, addressing and encouraging large congregations of members and interested nonmembers,
as well as meeting with local leaders.
When they are not traveling, members of the Quorum of the Twelve counsel together and with other general Church leaders on matters affecting the worldwide Church, such as missionary work, temple building, spiritual and temporal welfare, and much more.
Here is a testimony about Jesus Christ
from the Apostles:
"Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great King Immanuel, who stands today on the right hand of His Father.
He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son.”
-The Living Christ
The Testimony of the Apostles

The Church of Jesus Christ

of Latter-day Saints
We share these truths as our testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.

Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
