Last Hurrah for July...

MONDAY, JULY 29, 2018 
Family is Everything…
Walt could only bicycle for 
10 minutes today before his
knee started hurting...
...but he was a good sport and
walked around the exercise
room until I got 20 minutes
in on the bike at
the club house.
  We read the Come, Follow Me
lesson for July 29-August 4 tonight: 
Acts 22-28.
I need to research what year it was when
Cecil B. DeMille spoke at the BYU graduation
and turned to the Prophet and 
said to President David O. McKay:
"Almost thou persuadest me
to be a Mormon..."
as he paraphrased what King Agrippa
said to Paul in Acts 26:28. 
"Almost thou persuadest me
to be a Christian."
TUESDAY, JULY 30, 2019 
Family is Everything…
  Marci here...
I had my socket checked at the
dentist one week after that
tooth #15 was pulled.
Dr. Rasmussen, the Oral Surgeon
said it's healing well.

Then we had lunch at Denny's.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 31, 2019 
Family is Everything... 
 Karen here...
She is the R.N. who comes
once a week to check 
Walt's blood pressure
and listens to his heart.
 We went to the club house
to bicycle. Walt did 11 minutes
until his knees gave out. 
I did 20 minutes.
 We love driving around the 
Utah Lake to
go to the club house
It was cloudy and rainy today.
When we went to exercise 
it was 77 degrees...compared
to the high 90s yesterday.
We had fun watching these
four-year-old buddies when
they came outside to jump in
the puddles of water.
 They have so much energy...
 ...and try to outdo each other
with funny antics.
They got brave and climbed
the ladder to pick some 
apricots.
The Buchanans have posted on
the neighborhood face book page
for anyone who like apricots to
please come get some.
Riggy got clear up to the
next to the top rung.
We have a tradition with Gary...
On Wednesday we watch a 
movie together. For July we
chose Westerns and Pioneers.  
We love this time with our son, Gary.  
We watched "17 Miracles" tonight.

We've seen it before (when we were in San Salvador) but it's always a great reminder of what the Pioneers went through to come to Zion.

Family is Everything...
 David came and drove us to do
a session at the 
Mount Timpanaogos Temple.
We loved everything that 
was new to us.
  We then went to eat at
In 'n Out.
  The fellow who took our order
asked why we were dressed up.
When we told him we had been 
to the temple, he said: "It must
have been a busy night at the temple
because a lot of people have said they
had come from the temple."

Family is Everything…
 Pepper came to see us today.
 She is as curious as they say cats are!
   ...another couple of hours for
John and Julie at the lake. 
  We watched an interesting movie today called
"The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse"
The 4 Horsemen are: CONQUEST, WAR, PESTILENCE, DEATH.
The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse is a 1962 A drama film directed by Vincente Minnelli and starring Glenn Ford, Ingrid Thulin, Charles Boyer, Lee J. Cobb, Paul Lukas, Yvette Mimieux, Karl Boehm and Paul Henreid. It loosely is based on the novel by Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, which had been filmed in 1921 with Rudolph Valentino. 
Apocalypse is a Greek word meaning revealed or uncovered. The Bible Dictionary refers the word Apocalypse to "Revelation of John."
"The message of Revelation is the same as that of all scripture... as all the prophets have written... there will be an eventual triumph on this earth of God over the devil; a permanent victory of good over evil, of the saints over their persecutors, of the kingdom of God over the kingdom of men and of Satan... a day of victory that would come, and that the end would be better--more glorious--than the beginning. 
"The victory would be achieved through Jesus Christ...
"...Joseph Smith said that Revelation was 'one of the plainest books God ever caused to be written...'
"Some Guidelines to Understanding:
   1. Revelations seems to be divided into two parts.
        The first--chapters 1-3--deal with things at the time 
        Revelations was given...show clearly that the Church
        in that day was rapidly going into apostasy.
        The second part--chapters 4-22--deals with things that 
        had not yet come to pass. It begin with John's time and 
        continues to the end of the world... it offers a panoramic
        view of events through the age--of apostasy,                            restoration, judgment, and millennium..."

Here's another take on who the Four Horsemen are:
The four horsemen are a commonly known 
symbol of the apocalypse. 
They take root in the Bible, in Revelations Chapter Six. 
These horsemen are to be released when 
the Lamb, who is usually interpreted as Jesus Christ, 
opens the first four seals. The horsemen are typically named Death, 
War, 
Famine, and
Pestilence [-- means the anti-Christ]...
although, only Death is named in Revelations, 
there is reference to the others. 
With the opening of the first seal, Conquest--also interpreted as Pestilence, or the anti-Christ--is released on a white horse, the second seal on a red horse comes War, on the black horse comes Famine with the opening of the third seal, followed by Death on the pale horse with the opening of the fourth seal. (King James Version, Rev. 6.1-8) With the unleashing of the four horsemen,..the Bible states that: “And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”(King James Version, Rev. 6.8) Allowing them to wreak havoc on the Earth in turn of the impending apocalypse.
Eileen's note: But after all that, even though we do not know when, we do look forward to the Glorious Second Coming of the Savior!
Also this is another painting about the Second Coming of the Savior in a red robe on a white horse done by Robert T. Barrett that I copied from The Church News. [It was when we were serving in the Yucatan as Mission President and wife, so 1995-1998. There was no copyright posted.] The cutline continued ...Joseph Smith received revelation about the Second Coming, found in Doctrine and Covenants, Section 133.
Also here's another painting I found but it is a little overly dramatic for me.
 These quotes from  Revelation and St. Luke reminds us that although the word "soon"
is used--as Gary says--it's relative
compared to eternity.

We always love to visit with
John's parents--Brent and Vicki...   
 
They came to see their newest
great-grandson born August 1.
Geni's g-son, Bubba and Hannah's
second son: 
Brent Peterson Wolfgramm Tausingsa.
They say Kava doesn't know what
to think about his baby brother.  




We watched the end of
"Mutiny on the Bounty"
this evening. I didn't know it
was a true story.
Mutiny on the Bounty is a 1962 American Technicolor epic historical drama film starring Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard and Richard Harris, based on the novel Mutiny on the Bounty 
by Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall.

The film retells the 1789 real-life mutiny aboard HMAV Bountyled by Fletcher Christian against the ship's captain, William Bligh. It is the second American film to be made from the novel, the first being Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) with Clark Gable and Charles Laughton.
(Walt and I saw this 1935 version several months
ago on TCM.)

Family is Everything…
We had 9 testimonies shared
today in Fast and Testimony Meeting.
Our testimonies are strengthened
when others bear their witness
of the truthfulness of the Gospel,
of Heavenly Father,
of Jesus Christ, the Savior,
of the Prophet Joseph Smith,
of the Restored Church,
of the Book of Mormon,
and of our Living Prophet,
President Russell M. Nelson.
 We had another delicious
roast beef Sunday dinner.
Thanks, John.
 
Gary brought us Sunday dessert.
He thought banana splits sounded
like a choice August treat.
 He had maraschino cherries
in case anyone wanted one...
 ...none of us did, but we had one
put on top for the photo.
 Thanks, Gary. It's always great
to have you come over.

morning for girls' camp.

 I had an appointment with my internist,
Dr. Wallin.
When we were walking down the hall
to the elevator after my appointment,
Walt said: "I really like your internist." 
"I do, too," I answered.
It's 4:10 in the afternoon right now and we're going to the club house to ride the stationery bicycles.
John's home from work and sounds like he and Riggy are building something.
