Family is Everything…
Dr. Wallin checked my A1C today.
It was 8.4...which is a tad above
the "between 7-8" that they
would like for my age.
This is a place you are always glad
to be coming out of rather
than going in to.

Family is Everything…
 Marci helping Walt again...

Pa John, Ma Julie and their ten
Trek children--including Jacee
and Jackson, spent the day in
final preparation before leaving
very early Wednesday morning
for a 7-hour bus ride to
Martin's Cove in Wyoming
for a 4-day Trek experience.
Over 100 youth from our
Saratoga Springs Utah Stake
will be there, plus many
"Ma's 'n Pa's," and
other leaders.
By the end of the day they
had all twelve hand prints...
well 11 hand prints and
one foot print (Jacee's).
Walt and I worked some on
our computers.

Family is Everything...
We had our ward's monthly
"lunch bunch" gathering at
the Olive Garden in American Fork.
A lot of lively conversation goes on.
Sorry, Sharon, I didn't get back
far enough for this photo.
we enjoy talking to each other,
even more than the good food.
The eleven who were able to
come today are, front row,
left to right:
Sharon Howell, Mary Ann Mardesich,
LeAnn Hunt, Kaye Wyler,
and Linda Hartley.
Back row:
Shauna Keetch, Sandi Warren,
Eileen Petersen, Jennie Andersen,
Tammy Ballard, and Judy Dunston.
Is one photo clearer than the other?
 we all loved Tammy's shirt.
She had just come straight
from having her weekly
Cub Scouts together
for an hour.
Gary  came and took Walt to lunch
so he wouldn't be alone while
I was gone. Thanks, Gary.
Walt had the great serendipity of
seeing Joe and Marilee Clark at
Culvers. They served with us
at the San Salvador El Salvador
Temple from May 2013 to May 2014.
They were here from Gilbert, AZ,
to see some of their family.
we three watched "Yankee Doodle Dandy"
for our July theme of patriotic movies.
James Cagney received the "Best Actor" Oscar
for his performance in this movie.
The only Oscar he received in his lifetime.
Yankee Doodle Dandy is a 1942 American biographical musical film about George M. Cohan, known as "The Man Who Owned Broadway" It stars James CagneyJoan LeslieWalter Huston, and Richard Whorf, and features Irene ManningGeorge TobiasRosemary DeCampJeanne Cagney... [Jeanne Cagney is the
true-life sister of James Cagney, and played the sister of George M. Cohan in the movie.]
In 1993, Yankee Doodle Dandy was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Family is Everything…
This photo popped up on face book today as a
"Memory from seven years ago..."
Here's what I wrote about it:
Can't believe this is 7 years ago! 2012 when we were in El Salvador, San Salvador, almost 1 year into our 3-year call as Temple President and Temple Matron of the beautiful new El Salvador San Salvador Temple.
Walt had a wonderful serendipity just Wed, of this week, July 10 when Gary took him to lunch at Culver's in Provo while I was at a lunch bunch with our ward sisters here in Saratoga Springs.
As Walt and Gary were leaving, Joe and Marilee Clark were coming in. They were here from Gilbert, Arizona, visiting children and grandchildren. They served a year with us in the El Salvador San Salvador Temple, from about May 2013 to May 2014. What a blessing they were to our temple. I was sad I missed seeing them this week.
We have wonderful memories of all the couples and members we worked with in this elegant temple. The blessings of the temple enrich our lives for eternity! We are grateful for the Atonement of the Savior, the Restoration of the Gospel and true Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
We have wonderful memories of all the couples and members we worked with in this elegant temple. We are grateful for the Atonement of the Savior, the Restoration of the Gospel and true Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
We believe this quote from Truman Madsen: "Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of all; Joseph Smith is the Restorer of all truth."
And Russell M. Nelson is the living Prophet for the whole world today. Of these truths we testify on this July 12, 2019. Walt & Eileen Petersen

...back to today:
We've been watching Mt. Timp
to see when all the snow will
be gone. It almost is.

We always love to have Lorna
stop by. She's had two new
grandbabies born recently.
Happy to have supper tonight with
our youngest daughter, Jen Brewer,
who flew in from Rochester,
Minnesota today to fly back
tomorrow with her two oldest--
twins Seth and Sarah after
a week-long camp at BYU in Provo.
We love to be with Jen and
her kids. We loved being
with them when the whole
family flew out to be with
us on Memorial Day weekend
and putting flowers on the
graves of beloved
family members
in three cemeteries
in Idaho.

Gary, David and Julie
also joined us at Johnny Rockets
at Traverse Mountain across
from Thanksgiving Point.
1950's poster...

Jennifer and David,
and us...
 We love being together.
Gary joined us in this photo...

 Jen with Whitney, who was
one of her companions in
their Guatemala North Mission.

They are meeting with some of the
leaders at the MTC tomorrow
to help revive the
"Welfare Missionary" program.
Gary watered the flower beds
on this 100 degree weather day.
We sat on the porch for a while...

Family is Everything…
 Marci came earlier because
her ward in Spanish Fork is
going to Bear Lake today.
How fun for her and Claudia.
We rendezvoused with Seth, Sarah,
 and Jen at Cafe Rio
 for lunch.

We got to meet Garin Granata's
fiancee, Roxanne, who had
been Jen's (and Julie's)
roommate at BYU.
They are getting married in
September in the Payson Temple.
We are so happy for them!
Riggy was happy to see Benson
again after being in Idaho for
5 days with Grampa Brent
and Grama Vicki while
John and Julie were on Trek.
The Trekkers got home about
 7:30 tonight...tired
and happy to be home.

SUNDAY, JULY 14, 2019
Family is Everything…
We love going to Church...
 Jackson and Maddie are ready
for Sunday dinner...
 ...so is Riggy
 Thanks, John, for another
delicious roast beef dinner.
Later today
Steve and Natalie,
 Nicole and Jasmine
came over tonight to talk about
their experiences at Trek
this past week.
Gary, Carter, Jada, and Mia
 came to join us
to listen to their
Trek experiences...
It sounded like a
life-changing time for
many, and for some the
"life-changing" will happen
later in their life.
Steve, Natalie, Nicole, and Jasmine
were in Wyoming at these
sacred Pioneer grounds
July 8-11.
Natalie is their Stake's
Young Women President, and
Nicole--John's sister--is
Natalie's second counselor.

Julie's post about Trek July 10-13...
"One of the most important things I learned on trek was that the only way I would have made it would have been because of this guy.
So grateful we have made covenants and have an eternal family." #loverHim John Peterson
John was a "Pa"
and Julie was a "Ma"
on their
Saratoga Springs Utah Stake's
Martin Cove Trek July 10-13.
They had "ten" children
to be over.
Two of them were their real
children--Jacee and Jackson.
Here are the other eight from
their ward...

some must pull..."♪♫

...back to today:
Maddie got to go pick up
her new kitten from the
neighbors...
They are coming up with a name.
[They chose "Pepper."]

We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this July 14th,
we pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
We share these truths as our testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just as we are at this very moment.

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.

Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
