that is with us every second is time.
We can't even comprehend it.

it's such a strange thing."

Did Santa come???

Yes...he did!

Yes, Santa came.
Here's what Santa brought
me in 1942 - age 4 - in Long Beach,
California. My Daddy was building
ships for the Navy during World War II.
Here's what I got from my kids
this year - an emergency backpack.
I also got some nice clothes, See's
and Florence's chocolates.
My grandchildren gathered photos
of almost all of the 39 grandchildren
and put on a thumb drive for me.
I also got a fun gum drop tree (like
our Mom had), a KSL Weather calendar,
fun gifts from my lunch bunch friends,
lots of Christmas candy, and lots of love!

...and the new book our
Prophet, President
Russell M. Nelson has written:

“The laws or truths I will share in this book are not merely ideas I have studied and examined; they are the very essence of my life’s experiences.” —President Russell M. Nelson

It is a rare opportunity to learn from the wisdom of one who has witnessed a century of life, including all of its joys, sorrows, changes, and unchanging truths. It is even rarer to have such a witness from a prophet of God. Having been first called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1984, President Russell M. Nelson has viewed much of the world’s modern history through the lens of a special witness of Christ. Living through technological innovation from radio to rocket ships, wars and resolutions, cultural shifts and progress, President Nelson has seen the workings of the Almighty in all aspects of life. In Heart of the Matter, he reflects back on his one hundred years of living and the lessons he’s learned over the past century, including the core truths he has come to know matter most for this life and the next.

President Nelson proclaims: “Through the ups and downs, the joys and heartaches, of a century of living, there is nothing of which I am more certain than that Heavenly Father is our Father, that His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, is our Savior and Redeemer, and that the Holy Ghost can be your constant companion, whispering truths to your soul. I am certain that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fullness and is filled with the Savior’s power to bless you in ways no one else and nothing else can.” The testimony of a beloved prophet and a hundred years of experience and insight come together to assure us that because Jesus Christ overcame this world, we too can overcome all things and find peace and rest in Him.

MOVIE FOR THE WEEK...

MOVIE – 2023 Dec 25, 2023 - Info from Wikipedia

The Boys in the Boat is a 2023 American biographical sports drama film co-produced and directed by George Clooney from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith, based on the 2013 book of the same name by Daniel James Brown. The film stars Callum Turner and Joel Edgerton.[7]

The Boys in the Boat had its world premiere in Los Angeles on December 11, 2023 and was released by Amazon MGM Studios Distribution in the United States on December 25, 2023.

The non-fiction novel describes the University of Washington crew that represented the United States in the men's eight at the 1936 Summer Olympic games in Berlin, including the coaches, boatbuilder George Pocock, and the working class student athletes involved, especially rower Joe Rantz, who was effectively abandoned by his family and left to fend for himself at a young age.[7]

BOOK - 2013

The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics is a non-fiction novel written by Daniel James Brown and published on June 4, 2013.

Background

The Boys in the Boat is a true story based on the struggles and sacrifices made by the University of Washington rowing team to compete at the highest possible level, rowing at the 1936 Summer Olympics – Men's eight.[1] Joseph Sutton-Holcomb from The Seattle Times mentions that Brown got the idea to write this book when his neighbor Judy Willman walked into his home in Redmond, Washington. She said that her father on hospice, Joe Rantz, was a fan of his works and wanted to have a conversation with the author.[2] That encounter with Judy ignited a conversation with Joe Rantz about life during the Great Depression, which led to an in-depth chat about his time as a rower at the University of Washington.[2] Growing up, Joe felt ostracized by his father and stepmother and was seen as disposable, which correlates to how many people during that time felt.[2] The Depression brought about so much uncertainty, and people felt as if they did not have any control over their own lives.[1]

In an interview with Joseph Sutton-Holcomb from The Seattle Times, Brown emphasized that the reason he spent so much time on the build-up to the race was because he thought “it's much more meaningful if you know the nine guys involved on some kind of personal level, and if you knew what the German boys wearing swastikas on their chests represented, that they weren't just another bunch of kids in a boat.”[2]

*I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this December 31st,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."

***  *** *** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.  Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

*** *** ***
Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
