Family is Everything…
On this first day of Autumn 2019,
we went to an empty nesters'
Family Home Evening
at Linda Hartley's home.
It was decided we would

 Institute today was on
"Joseph Smith's First Vision."
Walt and I believe Joseph saw
what he said he saw.  In Joseph's words:
Joseph Smith--History 1:25
"2So it was with me. I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true; and while they were persecuting me, reviling me, and speaking all manner of evil against me falsely for so saying, I was led to say in my heart: Why persecute me for telling the truth? I have actually seen a vision; and who am I that I can withstand God, or why does the world think to make me deny what I have actually seen? For I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it, neither dared I do it; at least I knew that by so doing I would offend God, and come under condemnation."
Joseph Smith is the Prophet of the Restoration.

 The eruption of the volcano
Mount Tabora effected the
weather world-wide and was
instrumental to Joseph Smith, Sr.
and Lucy Mack Smith moving their
family to Palmyra, New York.

Some of my notes...
We loved Riggy's
"All About Me" poster for preschool...
 Fun family drawings...
We were honored to be
up in the corner with the family.
We went to the club house...
...to bicycle.
We were interested in all the
equipment to repair the paved paths.

Family is Everything...
We bicycled today for 30 minutes.

We love being by Lake Utah.
 Walt then got a haircut.
We enjoy our Wednesday night
movies with Gary.
Gary said: "Our Wednesday night
movies are like our Sibling Book Club.
In it I read books I never would have read.
I see movies I never have seen or
would have seen."
 We finished out our September
movies of Fred Astaire with
"Royal Wedding" from 1951.
It has the famous dance of Fred
dancing on the walls and ceiling.
Gary said this was his favorite of
the Fred Astaire movies we saw
this month.
Jane Powell was Fred Astaire's sister
in this film, which was symbolic of all
the years in true life that he did dance
with his sister, Adele.
Royal Wedding is a 1951 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musical comedy film starring Fred Astaire and Jane Powell, with music by Burton Lane and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. The film was directed by Stanley Donen; it was his second film and the first he directed on his own.
The story is set in London in 1947 at the time of the wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten. Astaire and Powell play siblings in a song and dance duo, echoing the real-life theatrical relationship of Fred and Adele Astaire." Wikepedia

Family is Everything…
We received word today that
Walt's nephew, Kevin Degler, has passed away.
We think he was 59 or 60 years old.
He was Walt's sister Bonnie's 6th child, 5th son.
This is the picture that Andrea "Andy" put on
face book of them together in Alaska.
Kevin worked on the Alaska pipe line for many years.  He was a master electrical line man.
We send our deep, heart-felt condolences to
his sisters, Andrea and Bonnie; his brothers Mark,
Christopher, and Jeff, and to his widow Patty.
Kevin's funeral will be Sat., Oct. 19, at 12:00 Noon at the American Legion Hall in Hagerman, Idaho.

Family is Everything…
 We were with Carter --
Steve and Natalie's son --
who is receiving his Endowment in
the Mt. Timpanogis this morning.

We are so proud of Carter for choosing
to serve a mission to teach
others about
The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints.
Family who were able to come
and be with Carter today.
Front: Grandparents--
Bert and Peggy, Walt and Eileen.
Back row:
Natalie's sister, _______, Steve,
Natalie, Carter, Cortney,
David, Julie and John.

Carter with his Dad and Mom
and sister, Cortney.
Carter with his
Uncle John and
Aunt Julie.
Carter with his
sister Cortney.
Carter with his grandparents:
Bert and Peggy,
Walt and Eileen.
Carter with his Mom.
Carter with his Dad.
We then went to Steve and Natalie's
home for lunch after.
"Carter, you go first--you are the
man of honor today!"
John said the beef brisket that
Natalie cooked for the
tacos was perfect!
David helps Grampa be able to
go through sessions. Thanks, David.
Carter is with his two sisters,
Cortney and Kelsey, and
his Mom and Dad.
Family is Everything…
 Saturday College Football...
We couldn't ever find the BYU
football game on TV to record
while we were gone, but we
did listen to part before the
half on KSL radio driving from
the temple to
Steve and Natalie's home.
We were ahead and hopeful.
But driving back home after
the luncheon our hopes
were dashed as we heard
the last sad minutes of
the fourth quarter when
we lost to the
Toledo Rockets.
Later Saturday night we watched
...the Utah State Aggies win over
Colorado State 34-24...
...and the Utah Utes
win 38-13 over the
Washington State Cougars.
At least some of the Utah
colleges won their games today.

Arnold George Albertson - Verna Beth Huffaker - Sep 1937

Arnold and Verna
My parents on their 25th Wedding Anniversary
–September 29, 1962.

Daddy age 49, Mom age 42
They would be together for just 19 1/2 years
more for a total of 44 1/2 years on this earth.
Here's a good photo of them in the line at our
wedding reception on June 17, 1961.
They had been sealed on June 14, 1961,
in the Salt Lake Temple
on the day Walt and I
were married in that Temple.
***** They are now together for eternity.
Mom stopped having her hair colored at the age of 70, while she was serving a mission in the London England South Mission - 1989 to 1991.

Back to today -- Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019
We went to Church today. Surprise!
(...as if we didn't go every Sunday.)
 We had the special broadcast
after Sacrament Meeting that
introduced the new
Youth Program.
We went to David and Julie's
home this afternoon.
We saw Anna just before she
headed back to BYU for
ward prayer.
Sam made the best chocolate mousse
from scratch that I've ever tasted.
It looked so good, I didn't stop to
take a photo before we ate it all.
Julie cut the almond cake. It's Josh's
favorite, he wants one like it for
his birthday cake.
We always enjoy being with Brent,
Julie's dad.
David just got home from a
special high council meeting.
With David and his three sons...
from left to right:
Sam, Josh, Will.
It's great to be with family!
We got home before dark.

We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.

At the end of this September29th,
we pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...

We share these truths as our testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.
*** *** ***
Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
