THIS WEEK-
SEPTEMBER 2-8, 2019

Family is Everything…
 Labor Day
We are blessed to live in the
United States of America
where all laborers can
be honored today.
This Labor Day
Steve, Carter, and Gary took us
to see the movie
"The Fighting Preacher" at
the theater in Pleasant Grove.
When Willard and Rebecca Bean are called on a mission to a town that's hostile towards them, they must choose whether to fight for their right to live there or love their hostile neighbors.

Their 5-year mission becomes a 24-year mission to Palmyra, New York. The longest mission in Church history for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We had lunch at Costa Vida
together after the movie.
Cortney brought Midge--
her darling tiny dog.
 Walt got a burrito and I
got an enchilada.
 We always enjoy being with
family for these special days.
We got a kick that Carter
"photo-bombed" this picture.
 We love seeing the flags on the
lawns. Jackson came in this
morning saying: "We just put
out 61 flags." Bless their hearts!
Thanks, John, Jackson, and the
others who helped do this.
   We then had hamburgers
for our Labor Day supper.

Family is Everything…
  We wanted to drive to Idaho for
Bonnie Hansen's funeral but
didn't know if Walt should travel.
And he didn't know if I would be
okay as the only driver.
We decided we'd start, and if by
the time we got to Brigham City if
we felt we shouldn't go any further,
we would have lunch at Maddox then
turn back to Saratoga Springs.
We did make it to Burley,
I D A H O just fine.
Bonnie's funeral was a great tribute
to her. She can be very proud of
how well her 8 children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren did.
Bonnie Jean Blauer Hansen
May 27, 1932 to August 29, 2019
Lived on this earth 87 years
Bonnie is truly an Elect Lady.
Ken and Bonnie were married
on March 19, 1952
There were together on this
earth for 67 years...
...and will be together for eternity.
Bonnie with her four daughters...
(left to right) Heidi, Heather,
Bonnie, Cheryl, Kristine.
In age order: Kristine, Cheryl,
Heidi, and Heather.
I didn't see a photo of her
four sons: Brent, Gordon,
Jeremiah, and Spencer.
Bishop Steve Gerratt gave
very touching closing remarks,
relating how it came to him
during one of his last visits
with her that Sister Bonnie Hansen
knew that Jesus Christ is the
Savior of the world.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Some of the Burley 3rd Ward
Relief Society Sisters who helped
with the luncheon...
Michelle, Ellen, and Stephanie.
Bonnie Fronk, a neighbor
and close friend of Bonnie's,
also helped (center).
Kaye Carson does a great job of
organizing the funeral luncheons
for the Burley 3rd Ward and
she appreciates the help of
so many sisters who furnish
such delicious home-made food.
Of course, a fringe benefit for us
was being able to also see many
close friends.
Tracy King was so kind to help Walt
get in with his walker and to help
him get to his seat, and then helped
him get up at the end.
We went to lunch at Stevo-s
with Dale and Connie
after the funeral.
And were able to talk with
the Bloxhams and Gortons--
Scott, G'lenn, George, and Jacque
who were also having lunch there--
who are all just back from their
missions at Martin's Cove.
Ruth Melling was their with
Kirt and John.
Before we drove to Twin Falls to
stay overnight with Walt's brother
and wife--Dale and Connie,
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2019
we went to see Tom and Irene Blayney.
Tom was just back from the Eastern
Idaho State Fair, where he took second
and third places in events he entered.
He has a magnificant display of
the 25 belt buckles he has won
over the years...from the age
of 8 up to now...and on
September 10 he will be 80!
Happy Birthday next week, Tom!
 Tom and a little closer look at
those belt buckles...won
in Team Penning. He's taken first
place many times at the
Cassia County Fair and Rodeo
and at other rodeos.
(Also called Penning and Sorting)
Tom and Irene Blayney were our
neighbors on Burton Avenue in
Burley, Idaho, for 52 years.
We lived next door to each
other for 47 of those years.
Tom is an outstanding veterinarian
and Irene is an excellent R.N. and
was a nurse in the Recovery Room
at Cassia Memorial Hospital for
many years.
They are both retired now.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2019
Family is Everything...
We so appreciate Dale and Connie
letting us stay overnight with them.
They cooked us a delicious breakfast.
We always love being with Walt's
brother, Dale and his darling wife, Connie.
 We stopped in Burley to see
Gary and Deborah Jones.
 He and Deborah had one of their
precious grandsons with them.
 Gary became one of Walt's first friends
when we moved to Burley in 1966.
Walt told him that his long years
of service to so many in Burley
and surrounding area have not
gone unnoticed and we are all
better for his being a stalwart
in our community.
 Gary is a master builder and does
an outstanding job with anything he
is involved with. He is just a year
older than Walt. His 86th birthday
was in April, just after Walt
turned 85. He mows that big
front lawn on his riding lawn mower.
 We did get to stop at Maddox on
the drive home...
and enjoyed their delicious rolls
and corn pones, with the
raspberry honey butter,
their crisp, fresh salad...
 I had a delicious petite fillet mignon,...
 ...and Walt had turkey steak,
which he said was also delicious!
 Maddox is a great place to eat!
We got home about 5:45 and
saw the Birthday Boy ...
Rigdon Jay Peterson
5 years old today!
Happy Birthday,
Riggy Jay!
Here's what Julie posted on
face book about this
precious grandchild of ours:
"Our bonus baby turned five yesterday! I can’t imagine our life without him. I’ve decided he arrived so late because I would need help from all his older siblings to raise him. He is a ball of energy and a bundle of joy with just the right amount of spice thrown in.
We sure love our Riggy Jay! "
Fun Birthday cake...
With one of his fun
birthday presents...
Happy Birthday, Rigdon!
Hope you have a great 5th year!
Family is Everything...
Riggy had a fun birthday party
today with fun games...
 ...fun birthday presents,
 ...and Grampa came to join the fun.
 ...then the party was over.
...and the friends went back home.
...a little bit of birthday cake is left.
 Karen, Walt's R.N. came to
see how he is doing.
 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2019
Family is Everything…
Julie and Maddie have been school shopping.
Maddie's new Lake Mountain Middle School
is not finished enough for the kids to go there
yet, so the 7th, 8th, and 9th graders are doing
their classes on line from Aug. 20 to when it
was to be ready on Sept. 10 (but they just
found out that the school did not pass the
fire marshall's inspection, so the date is
pushed back to Sept. 17.
Maddie got a darling hair cut today.
Walt is reading scriptures.
We drove over to the
club house...
...where we bicycled 30 minutes.
Then we decided to...
...drive over to the temple site.
95th Birthday Celebration for
President Russell M. Nelson...
at the Conference Center
with the Tabernacle Choir
and Orchestra...
President and Sister
Nelson with Donny Osmond.
Donny Osmond sang
"You Raise Me Up."
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2019
Family is Everything…
 Sister Lisa Miller and
Brother Rodabaugh spoke
on "true happiness."
We were invited to Steve and
Natalie's home to be part
of Carter being ordained an
Elder in the
Melchizedek Priesthood
by his father, Steve.
Craig Remund, High Councilor,
presided.
Everyone who was able to come:
Steve and Natalie,
Cortney, Carter, in front
of photos showing
Kelsey and Josh, and
Kimble, who is in the
U.S. Coast Guard at May Harbor
New Jersey.
Julie and John and family.
Natalie and Steve then served
a delicious Sunday dinner.
Thank you for a wonderful
Sunday afternoon.
Carter, we are so proud of
you as you prepare to
serve a mission to
share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this September 8th,
we pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
We share these truths as our testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.
*** *** ***
Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
