Traces of Time . . . July 31-August 6, 2023

 TRACES OF TIME . . .

"Time moves slowly, but passes quickly."
“The Color Purple” by Alice Walker, 1982

{Last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.} On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and posterity to come.

of the petunias and

begonias he hung on

his patio today.

 Worked on photos

 'n my blog before

Gary came...

 Our Wednesday night movie

was Tuesday this week...

"Angels in the Outfield"

from 1951

with Paul Douglas and
'
Janet Leigh.

It was a fun movie to

end our baseball series.

We always miss those

who can't come.

The waiter then took

a photo from the other side.

We welcomed Pat for the

first time. She lives in

Scottsdale, Arizona, but

they have had a home on

Coral Court for 13 years

next to Jeanie & Steve.

She said she and Don will

be here until the

middle of October.

Several of us got taco salads.

For me, it was the worst

taco salad I have ever had.

The pork was in big chunks

in the bottom.

I won't be ordering that again.

We always get a better photo

outside in the sunshine.

L-R: Sharon, Kaye, Carol,

MaryAnn,  Shauna, Pat.

It rained...

...then the sun came out.

  Three years since

Walt's sister, Phyllis,

graduated to heaven.

Phyllis was a beloved aunt

by our children.

“The meaning of death has not changed. It releases a spirit for growth and development and places a body in the repair shop of Mother Earth, there to be recast, remolded into a perfect body, an immortal glorious temple, clean, whole, perfected, and ready for its occupant for eternity.”

 Jacee and Maddie are on

their way to the Bricki Reunion

at Echo Reservoir --

1 1/2 hour drive.

Brent & Vicki have 9 children

Stanley Basin in Central Idaho was                                 Walt's favorite place in Idaho.                                            Saw this on face book before I went to bed:

"Taken from Central Idaho’s Dark Sky Reserve near Stanley, some of the darkest skies in Idaho, I would like to share my favorite and highest resolution image of the

Andromeda Galaxy that I’ve made yet.

With the short summer nights in play it took two nights to collect 6 hours of data on this target, thanks to the dark skies you can see the details in the dust lanes of the galaxy very well. Also the color of the stars reveal themselves much better from dark skies rather than shooting thru light pollution.

This is a favorite target to come back to yearly, it’s challenging enough to keep shooting and trying for that better image and so beautiful that I can never get enough of it.

Hope you enjoy this year’s version. As always feedback and questions are appreciated. Have a great weekend everyone." --Jerimiah Sorrells

Day 2 of Bricki Staycation

at a Splash Pad in Bluffdale.

"...worlds without number"

The question of if we are alone in the universe has fascinated humanity through the ages. For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, our doctrine answers with a resounding “No!” But does this mean we believe in aliens as the world often defines them, with little green men in flying saucers? Not necessarily. Keep reading to learn more about what Latter-day Saints believe about aliens.

What Do Latter-day Saints

Believe About Aliens?

“Worlds Without Number”

The scriptures clearly point us to a vast universe filled with heavenly creations. In the Book of Moses, we read, “And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son, I created them, which is mine Only Begotten. Just a few verses later, the Lord continues, “There are many worlds that have passed away by the word of my power. And there are many that now stand, and innumerable are they unto man; but all things are numbered unto me, for they are mine and I know them.” ...

Family History Photos from

both sides of my family:

Albertson

My Dad's sister Lorene (1923-1979}

and her family with

Bob Howard (1910-1980)

My cousins...

Robert Lee 1940-2014

Gerald Dean 1942-2012

Clarence Allen 1944-2000

Sidney Ralph 1946-2007

Melvin Frank 1949-1971

Lorene later had a daughter

Vida Marie 1963-2008.

The Albertsons didn't get

together very often so I didn't

know them too well. Aunt Lorene

was quiet and shy like her mother.

I do remember she had

a cute little giggle.

I don't remember Uncle Bob

at all. I heard the other aunts

and uncles say he was mean and

beat Lorene. They later divorced.

I remember being sad for her.

She helped take care of her

Mom in Pocatello after

Grama Blanche's stroke.

I hope this shows her

photo better.

Huffaker side:

My Mom's sister

Lorraine (1925-2013)

Ray - age 48

(1920-2008 age 88)

Lorraine - age 43

(1925-2013 age 87)

Lorraine had ten children in

14  years from

ages 19 - 32.

I loved my Aunt Lorraine.

She had the funest giggle of

anyone I ever knew.

I loved Uncle Ray. He was quiet

and had a dry sense of humor.

They were wonderful parents

to their ten children.

Learned that a friend

from Burley graduated

to heaven today.

Ilene Critchfield Mai

Her daughter Kristin Mai

posted this:
"With a heavy heart we are saddened to let you know our sweet mom gained her wings today. What a joyous, beautiful reunion she was welcomed to. I will miss her beyond what I can fathom.                                                     ♥️Til we meet again “Tooo Da Loo” "

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this August6th,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."

***  *** *** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.  Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

*** *** ***
Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
