Family is Everything…
I've chosen to call Dec. 26-30...the
"Holidaze"...
those 5 days between
Christmas and New Year's Eve...
that just go by in a daze
of fun activities.
Happy Birthday to our grandson,
Actually, today, December 30th
is the birthday of our
grandson,
Joshua Petersen
Josh is a senior at the
University of Utah and is
either Editor or Co-Editor
or Assistant Editor...
or something like unto it...
for the
University of Utah Chronicle.
He has written great articles for
this university newspaper since
his first or second year at
the U of U.
Julie was out early this morning
to take the kids hooky-bobbing
on the snowy roads here in
the residential area.

For one of the highlights of
our year...
Walt's nephews
Don Bunn and Mitch Bunn
brought their Dad,
Dale Bunn, to see us.
They drove the 4 hours from
Wendell, Idaho, stopping at
Exit 211 of Interstate 84 to
have breakfast at the
Wayside Cafe.
Left to right: Don, Walt,
Dale, Mitch.
Dale married Walt's sister,
Phyllis, in 1950, and they were
married for 64 years, until
her death in Aug 2014.

Don took a photo so I
could be in it.
Dale will be 91 on March 12.
He had a pretty major heart attack
43 years ago, and we thought we
were going to lose him in his
50s, but he's hangin' in there.
He told us he just sold his goats
and bought two Jersey cows.
Buss Parr--who had the
Wendell Meat Market for
years-- had told Dale
that Jersey cows make the
best meat, but housewives
wouldn't buy it because the
cuts of Jersey meat wouldn't
hold their red color more than
one day, and no one wanted
to buy "grey" raw meat from
his meat market shelves.

Here's a photo of Phyllis, left,
and Bonnie, right.
Walt's two sisters.
The photo is from 1965,
Phyllis age 33, Bonnie, 35.
(Do any of you Bunn nephews or
nieces have a photo of Dale and
Phyllis together you could e-mail
to us? I remember a wonderful
photo of them on their Anniversary
at the Rim Restaurant...I thought I
saved that from your fb post, but
I can't find it.)
Dale, Don and Mitch
 headed back to Wendell
about 2:00. We cherish the
time we had together today!

Karen, R.N., came to check on
Walt and refill his pill boxes
for two week's worth.
 Walt's blood pressure was a
little high at 155/88.

But he's moving well today
with his walker.

Family is Everything…
                         Marci came to help Walt
start this last day of 2019.

New Year's Eve we were invited
to an open house at the home
of our neighbors--
Mark and Tammy Ballard.
Tammy's dashing Dad,
Arthur McOmber,  a widower,
lives with them.

Their darling daughter, Dana Lee
got to come home from California
 for the holidays.

Tammy said it was really fun
to have a child in
their home for
Christmas.
Their granddaughter, Robin,
age 4, brought that magic
of seeing Christmas through
a child's eyes once more.

We enjoy talking with Tammy's
father--Art, who
was sitting by us. He lived
in Pocatello, Idaho, a while,
but he and Sister McOmber
raised their family in
northern California.
 Yummy treats were served,
along with Martinelli's Sparkling
Apple Cider and other soft drinks.
Fun games were placed on each
table, but mostly everyone just
enjoyed talking to each other.

Goodbye, Old Father Time of 2019...

"An old man (Father Time) holds a young baby (the New Year)
as they look at time symbols.
The titles 'Happy' and 'New Year' surround them.
A banner declaring
'Ring out the old, ring in the new'
flutters from a bell at midnight,
telling the old man
'Thank you, and Goodbye'
and the baby "Welcome.' "

Family is Everything...
As far as resolutions go...
here's a good one:
We had enough snow for the
kids to go sledding and
hooky bobbing.
We watched the Rose Parade
and the Rose Bowl...a life-time tradition for me
from my Dad and Mom. In the 1970's my parents
got to be the directors on a tour to Pasadena
for these New Year's Day events for Harmon
Travel Agency. My Mom's sister, Eleanor and her
husband, Earl Harmon, were the owners, and asked
Arnold and Verna to do this. They had a marvelous
time.
Walt and I have enjoyed
our quiet New Year's Day.
Now time will continue to march
on for this new decade, new year...
THURSDAY, JANUARY 2, 2020
Family is Everything...
Karen, R.N., said Walt's blood pressure is really
good today at 128/60.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 2020
Family is Everything...
Marci came to help this
morning because her
car spun out on the ice
yesterday and she wasn't
able to come on her normal
day of Thursday.
 Thanks, Marci, for all
you do for Walt. We're
relieved you were not
hurt in the car accident.

 Christmas decorations...
 ...are being taken down...
...and stored
away...
...until next December.

Family is Everything...
A fun morning of Dungeons 'n Dragons
with Uncles, Siblings, 'n Cousins...
D 'n D Master...Isaac.
Gary took a few turns
at being the Master...
D 'n D...brings out
great imagination among
all ages...
Also time out for treats
during D 'n D...
...treats of all kinds--
salty...
...sweet
...even Keto treats!
...hard for Rigidoni to...

...decide what to choose.
David brought a box of these
limited, extraordinary, over-the-
top delicious chocolates hand
made by Joy Price's Dad...
and maybe her Mom, too.
Steve gives a fist bump
to Will before he leaves.
After two hours they have an
ideal breaking spot of where to
continue on next month...
Front: Will, Sam, Maddie, Isaac.
Back: David, Gary, Jackson.
Oh, but now there's more:
Maddie and Isaac have some
magic card tricks to show
everyone.
Isaac's great-grandfather was a
professional Magician...
Isaac got a treasure chest and a
book of Magic Tricks for Christmas.
David and his sons, Sam and
Will say goodbye...
...until the February
Dungeons 'n Dragons resumes.
Gary and his son Isaac
also say goodbye until then.
Grampa is worn out from just
watching and listening to the
family session of D'nD.
Later that afternoon we had a
fun visit from our dear friends
from Burley, who moved to
Utah Valley years ago--
Ralph and Jamie Rasmussen.
Ralph was Walt's counselor in
the Burley Idaho West
Stake Presidency until he
moved to Utah.
We loved seeing them.
Later I returned the slippers I had
gotten for Walt at Walmart.
His feet and ankles are so
swollen now that they didn't fit.
It was the New Year week time
for the annual "see how much
you've grown in a year" time.
Riggy few __ inches.
Jacee didn't grow too much taller
this past year.
