THIS WEEK-

Family is Everything…
Walt went with me to the new physician I was
referred to since the internist at the Mountain
Point Medical Center has moved
back to St. George.
We are impressed with Dr. David Kimball
at the new Revere Health
"Lehi Willowcreek Family Medicine"
Center at 2183 West Main Street, Suite A107.
We like Dr. Kimball a lot.
 Karen, R.N., from
Utah Home Health and Hospice
came this afternoon to
check Walt.
She is an excellent nurse,
and we like her a lot!
Family Home Evening was
at Dean and Nadine Fletcher's home.
We watched the DVD for James Cox's
"Becoming Spiritually Centered"
of Section 5, pp. 57-67.
"Using Enticements for
Spiritual Growth"
We will start on p. 68 of the
manual next Monday at
the home of the Fletchers.
"Lehi teaches that this world has been set up with enticements for the purpose of forcing us to act.
'Wherefore, the Lord God gave unto man that he should act for himself. Wherefore man could not act for himself save it should be that he was enticed by the one or the other.' 2 Nephi 2:16
"What are your enticements?
"Some of our participants have given the following as their enticements: 1. Food 2. Drivers in traffic 3. Fighting children
4. Swearing at work 5. Telephone 6. Neighbors 7. TV 8. Bills
9. Health problems 10. Politicians 11. Chemical imbalance
12. Chocolate 13. Job
"...Why are we upon this earth? To overcome this world. To master our body. To become steadfast in Christ. To grow spiritually until we overcome all things. To prove to God that we will 'submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon us.' Mosiah 3:19"

Thank you, Dean and Nadine, for
hosting and for the delicious
brownies, ice cream, 'n cashews.
Nadine took a photo with me in it.
Since I do not have good balance
and walk with a cane, Dean moved
his car out of the garage before I
got there and had me pull in so
I could walk on a flat surface,
and get up their back stairs
that has a good railing.
How kind and thoughtful!

My sister, Janice, took great care of
Mom when we were out of the country
for our first three missions -
for 6 1/2 years.
During our fourth mission,
Julie volunteered to
have Grama A live with
her and John and their
family. They took such
great care of her
from June 2011 to
July 2013 while we were
in San Salvador El Salvador
serving in the temple there.

 Tuesday morning is Institute
  Our new teacher,
Camie Williams, introduced
herself showing her ancestors,
with the head caption:
"I am a Delight."
Her Dad's surname is "Delight."
And she lived up to her name...
she is a delight and her lesson
was wonderful!

This week we had
Chapters 18 and 19 of
Saints - 1815 to 1846
The Standard of Truth
"Camp of Israel"

  Sister Williams taught that even
though Zion's March was hard,
the hand of the Lord was
in this endeavor.
She asked:
"Which comes first:
Faith or Obedience?
Obedience is the path.
Faith is the way.
 She shared how she has
faith rooted in promises.
Further good reference to show
what was learned from the
Camp of Israel is an article
by Elder Bednar in the July 2017
Ensign "On the Lord's Side--
Lesson from Zion's Camp."

 Thank you, Sister Williams,
for teaching us.

Thanks, Judy, for taking my photo.
The photo I took of you didn't
turn out. I'll try again next week.
 When I got home, the
Pest Control man was
spraying...
I shared the lesson with Walt
since his "head was wobbly"
today and his legs too weak
for him to walk well enough to go.

Family is Everything...
Anne Vincent, P.A., for the
Utah Home Health and Hospice
came for her re-assessment that is
done every two months to see if
Walt still qualifies for the
long-term hospice care.
He does.
Tonight for 'Movie Night'
with Gary, we watched
"The Other Side of Heaven 2
Fire of Faith"
This shows the ocean storm.
We liked it very much.
 Thanks, Gary.
Next week to continue our
January theme to start the
Bicentennial of the Prophet's
First Vision, we're watching
the movie about
Joseph Smith.

Family is Everything...
Julie had Jacee to the Mountain Point Medical Center
by six o'clock this morning for surgery to repair her
torn ACL and partial meniscus tear in her knee.

Marci came to help start Walt's day.
John and Riggy went to
get a haircut.
Julie, Gary, Steve, and David
gathered in our cozy cottage
this afternoon to discuss with
Karen, R.N., the hospice nurse
for Walt about his condition...

...and what he can and cannot
do and what'd be best for him.
Karen explained that in this point
of his Lewy Body Dimentia, it is
hard for Walt to be in unfamiliar
places, and best for him to mostly
stay where he is familiar with the
surroundings.
We appreciate her time in being
with us this afternoon.
After she left, I mentioned that one
of our sons had plain, boring socks on.
So they compared. Steve said it
wasn't fair that he had worn his
deacon socks to work today.
When I took this photo, I told
them we had to redo, because
Steve wasn't smiling.
This one turned out much better.
 Thanks all for coming!

Family is Everything...
I didn't take one photo today.

Family is Everything...
 Marci came to help Walt
start his day.
Walt's brother, Dale, and his wife Connie,
left Twin Falls on Thursday to take a
road trip to see family
and friends in Utah.
(Photo is from Dec 2017 when we
rendezvoused each Wednesday
afternoon to do a session together
in the Twin Falls Temple.)
In Logan they took three college
grandkids out to eat, then in Ogden,
they took Dale's granddaughter and
her husband to lunch. They also visited
with a close Wendell High School
classmate, David Stephenson, who
is not in good health. He has Lewy
Body Dementia, also.
They drove on to Orem to stay Friday
night and see some grandkids that
are going to BYU. They got up early
Saturday to do a session in the
Provo City Center Temple, which
they had not been to before.
After that they planned to see
Paul and Barbara Brown--
Connie's neighbors and good
friends from her Burley days.
Sunday morning they were coming to
visit Walt and me before they drove
on to St. George to see good friends.
Unfortunately, as they were about to
the entrance of the Provo City Center
Temple, Dale tripped on the sidewalk
and fell. He broke his left hip and
also hit his head so hard that he
has a slight internal brain bleed.
An ambulance took him to the
Utah Valley Hospital.
Dale's friend Roger Dixon and
his son Jeff came from Lindon
and administered to him
and gave him a priesthood
blessing. As Dale said to us:
"Thank heavens
for the Priesthood!"
Gary drove us to the hospital to see
him last night. We just missed Connie
who had driven to their motel to get
their things before she spent the night
with Dale in the hospital.
When we got home, we called
Dale's name into the temple
to be put on the prayer roll.

Family is Everything...
After the decision on Thursday with Walt's hospice nurse that Walt said he was too afraid of falling to go to Church anymore, he woke up today and said: "I feel fine, there is no reason why I should not go to Church." So he went. John and Jackson helped push him in the wheelchair.
Surgery for Dale Petersen today
Connie told us that they took Dale to
the operating room at 7:50 this morning,
but the surgery didn't begin until 9:20.
As we called her when we got home
from Church, they were just bringing
Dale back to his room at 12:00 noon.
As Dale understood it last night, they
were not doing a total hip replacement
but putting a pin in his broken hip.
[Just talked with Connie, and they
did not do a pin, but where the
ball and socket are in the hip,
the ball was broken, so they put
a new ball--which is like a
partial hip replacement. Because
of the brain bleed they did not
want Dale to be under
anesthesia too long.
They are taking him in for
a second CT scan this
afternoon to check the
brain bleed.]
Connie texted later that
CT scan showed that the
bleed in the brain is not
significant and will be okay.
Our prayers are certainly
with our brother, Dale Petersen,
 for a speedy recovery.

My Visiting Ministering Sisters
came this afternoon.
Leslie shared the story by
President Hugh B. Brown, about
why a Prophet has spoken in
these latter days--referring to
the Prophet Joseph Smith.
Thank you,
Leslie Elmer and Kathy Skousen
to come to see us.
(Kathy's husband Paul is the son
of Cleon Skousen. Paul has written
several books himself.)
These two gals are both outstanding
and good friends.
We had another delicious
Sunday dinner cooked by John.
Julie asked each one:
"What new thing did you learn
in Sunday School class today?"
I learned that "clinging" to the Iron Rod
can denote a desperation
'hanging-on-for-dear-life
with fear.
But a "holding fast" to
the Iron Rod can denote
a firm knowledge of why
we are doing this and we
have faith!
Then it was time for the monthly
Sibling Sundae Sunday.
Steve and Natalie brought
homemade chocolate chip cookies,
and ice cream 'n Hershey's
chocolate topping for actual
sundaes.
We had sixteen all together tonight.
Front: Will, Jackson, Grampa Walt,
Grama Eileen, David.
Second row: Natalie, Maddie,
Sam holding Rigdon,
Isaac, Gary, Steve, Julie, Anna.
John took this photo, so...
... I took one of him with his two sons,
Jackson and Rigdon.
 Anna, Julie, and David enjoyed
watching Steve putting the
level on Jackson's and John's
heads to see who is tallest.

John won by about 1/4 inch...
so Jackson may soon be
taller than his Dad.

We enjoy being together.
Thanks everyone for coming.

We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this January 19th,
we pray you have had a restful , peaceful, and spiritual Sabbath Day...

We share these truths as our testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.

I am thankful for a husband who holds and honors the Priesthood of God. He has been the patriarch of our home in righteousness. I honor and love him with all my heart. We are eternal sweethearts, sealed as husband and wife in the temple of God by Priesthood Authority for time and for all eternity.

Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
