I have heard about this quote
since I was a little girl in
World War II.
"We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender." — Winston Churchill
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill delivered this speech in the House of Commons on June 4, 1940, following the Battle of Dunkirk. With the Allies heroically evacuated from Dunkirk, an invasion of Britain by Nazi Germany was a distinct possibility. It was time for Churchill to rally the nation, and that he certainly did.

Daily Scripture:Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. - Isaiah 43:18-19
Daily Quote:We cannot go back in time and change the past, but we can repent. The Savior can wipe away our tears of regret and remove the burden of our sins. His Atonement allows us to leave the past behind and move forward with clean hands, a pure heart, and a determination to do better and especially to become better. - Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Lunch Bunch was cancelled
because of a winter blizzard.
After a lively 40 minutes of texting,
it was decided it was too risky to
venture out on this stormy day.
We may be older, but we are
also smarter.
Julie said it was a
"stew 'n scones" day.
How blessed I am to have
these good meals each day.

Family is Everything…
On Monday I had cancelled my
Dental appointment for today
to have a tooth pulled because
my sinus infection of 16 days
had not gone away.
I was dreading it anyway!

Family is Everything…
I had an appointment
this afternoon...
...with Dr. Kimball at
Willow Creek Clinic in Lehi.
He said if this sinusitis I've
had for 3 weeks doesn't clear
up from the Augmenten
(Amoxicillian) he's prescribing
today, he will have to send me
to an ENT specialist.
The nurse with him is Mariah.
And Sophia is the
other helper.
This evening I watched some
episodes of Abbott Elementary.

This evening as I was catching
up my blog, I realized I hadn't
taken any photos today, even
though I'd driven to Smith's
to pick up my prescriptions...
...so I took a couple of
my bulletin board.
I watched a couple of
light-hearted movies while
I was folding clothes and
refilling my pill boxes for
the week, plus working on
my computer during the ads...
(when you don't 'rent or buy'
the movie, you endure ads:
"Legally Blonde" with
Reese Witherspoon,
and
"Miss Congeniality"
with Sandra Bullock.
I had seen neither of them.
Since I like both of those
actresses, I enjoyed them.

Family is Everything…
Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward
Our speakers were Roberta Sherman Jones
on Knowing our Redeemer lives.
Brittany Andam sang "Savior, Redeemer,
Savior of my Soul" accompanied by Emily
Slade.
Kirsten Novilla spoke on Elder Neil L
Andersen's talk. We need to be Rooted,
Come to the Master, and Learn.
Sue Allen taught this lesson in our SS3 Relief Society on
Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023.
She did an excellentjob. She taught Michelle Craig's General Conference talk from the Oct 2022 General Conference entitled "Wholehearted."
Sue shared a story about her husband, Craig's pioneer ancestor named Drusilla Doris
Hendricks whose husband was shot at the Crooked River skirmish and paralyzed
for the rest of his life. So Drusilla was his care-giver when they were
crossing the plains.
When the U..S. Army came to recruit 500 men to form the “Mormon
Battalion” to fight in the war with Mexico they wanted her 16-y-o son to go,
but she said “No, he’s all I’ve got to help me get his paralyzed father [and
other children] across the plains to Zion.”
However, after the Battalion had already marched out of the
pioneer camp, they returned with word that they still needed more men to make the
500. A voice said to her that to become all the Lord wanted her to be, she
needed to make the hard sacrifices. She bargained with the Lord that she would
let him go if the Lord would protect his life.
She heard a voice say” “So be it,” and she let her 16-y-o William
go.
Here's a painting the family had painted of Drusilla.
Sue had the perfect blend
of adding personal experiences,
class participation, and quotes
from the talk.
Her mother had a complicated
heart surgery by the famed
heart surgeon,
Dr. Russell M. Nelson.
She prayed fervently that her
Mom would live.
She did, but six weeks later
her Dad was hit by a drunk driver.
She prayed just as fervently
that he would live.
He did not.
Then her only son, with
two young children got
a brain tumor and died.
Their widowed
daughter-in-law recently
had to have a biopsy of a
suspicious mammogram.
Fervent prayers again...
and everything is okay.
Their daughter and her
husband are helping watch
over their niece and nephew
who are without their
father now.
Sister Michelle D. Craig: ‘Wholehearted’
‘Trials do not mean that the plan is failing; they are part of the plan
Sister Michelle D. Craig, first counselor in the Young Women general presidency, speaks
during the Saturday evening session of the
192nd Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Oct. 1, 2022.
The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints
Sister Craig’s conference talk summary
An 1857 newspaper article describes a group of Latter-day Saint women “dragging handcarts like beasts” across the Plains. One woman fell in the black mud.
“I’ve thought a lot about this mud-drenched woman. Why was she pulling alone? Was she a single mother? What gave her the inner strength, the grit, the perseverance to make such a wrenching journey through mud, pulling all her possessions in a handcart to an unknown desert home, at times being mocked by observers?”
To be such men and women is the call of our day — “disciples who dig in and find the strength to keep pulling when called to walk through the wilderness, disciples with convictions that have been revealed to us by God, followers of Jesus who are joyful and wholehearted in our own personal journey of discipleship.”
Disciples of Jesus Christ can believe and grow in three important truths:
We can keep covenants, even when it is not easy.
We can act in faith.
We can be wholehearted and joyful in our devotion.
“When I stumble I will keep getting up, relying on the grace and enabling power of Jesus Christ. … This is my path of discipleship.”
Notable quotes from Sister Craig’s conference talk
When your faith, your family or your future are challenged — when you wonder why life is so hard when you are doing your best to live the gospel — remember that the Lord told us to expect troubles. Troubles are part of the plan and do not mean that you’ve been abandoned; they are part of what it means to be His.
The point of walking the covenant path is to approach the Savior. He is the point, not our perfect progress. It is not a race, and we must not compare our journey to others. Even when we stumble, He is there.
When hard times come, I try to remember that I chose to follow Christ before I came to earth and that challenges to my faith, my health and my endurance are all part of the reason I’m here. … Trials do not mean that the plan is failing; they are part of the plan meant to help me seek God.

At the end of this February 26th,
I pray you have had a

I share these truths as my testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.
