A Personal Interview  with the Savior President David O. McKay
In 1965, President David O. McKay made the following statement to a group of Church employees: Let me assure you, Brethren, that some day you will have a personal priesthood interview with the Savior himself. If you are interested, I will tell you the order in which he will ask you to account for your earthly responsibilities. First, he will request an accountability report about your relationship with your wife. Have you actively been engaged in making her happy and ensuring that her needs have been met as an individual? Second, he will want an accountability report about each of your children individually. He will not attempt to have this for simply a family stewardship but will request information about your relationship to each and every child. Third, he will want to know what you personally have done with the talents you were given in the preexistence. Fourth, he will want a summary of your activity in your Church assignments. He will not be necessarily interested in what assignments you have had, for in his eyes the home teacher and a mission president are probably equals, but he will request a summary of how you have been of service to your fellow man in your Church assignments. Fifth, he will have no interest in how you earned your living but if you were honest in all your dealings. Sixth, he will ask for an accountability on what you have done to contribute in a positive manner to your community, state, country, and the world.   Elder D. Todd Christofferson was with us in Mexico for some stake conferences. He was the Area President of South Mexico when Walt was president of the Mexico Merida Mission '95-'98.

He told us that he had personally seen this "Interview with the Savior" in the Church Archives and it is authentic.

A random Flash Back

...to May 1973:

Walt and I were about to leave

for St. Louis for the ten-year 

reunion of Walt's medical school

class at Washington University

School of Medicine.

 Grama A and Grama Jane

took turns coming to take care

of our 6 children for the week.

Brian was just 2 months old.

(Jennifer would join our

family the next year and

we said: 

"Seven is heaven,"

and that's how we

completed our family.)

...I pulled this photo up because

my sister

Janice called me today to find

out how we'd seen Vickie in

St Louis before they came in

the summer for a visit in Idaho.

She had a letter she'd written

that we had seen their new

baby Vickie born 3 days

after Brian.

I remembered Walt and I had

gone there in May for his

Medical School reunion.

Bishop Cheney presided

John always does a 

great job of conducting.

Matt Kohler spoke on President

Eyring's talk

"Start, Stop, Continue"

Brother Kohler shared that 

because of a loving wife 

and caring Bishop 

he found out

the Atonement was for him.

He wants us to treat others as

we want to be treated.

And to remember to 

"START, STOP, CONTINUE."

Joanne Lyon was the other speaker.

She spoke on Gary Stevenson's

April 2021 talk about kindness.

Elder Gary E. Stevenson (born August 5, 1955) was called as a Seventy in 2008, then as Presiding Bishop in 2012. He was called as a member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles in October 2015.

"As we look through a gospel lens, we recognize that we too are under the watchcare of a compassionate caregiver, who extends Himself in kindness and a nurturing spirit. The Good Shepherd knows each one of us by name and has a personal interest in us. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said: 'I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep. … And I [will] lay down my life for the sheep' (John 10:14-15).

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  

He loves us just 

as we are at this very moment. 

He knows what our potential is.
