Family is Everything…

A National Holiday

Hate cannot drive out hate;

only love can do that.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. first delivered this famous line in a sermon at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1957. It was later included in his 1963 book “Strength to Love,” in which King expounded on his philosophy of nonviolence and his belief that a powerful, loving presence binds all humans. Although he was regularly targeted by hate speech and discrimination, King adamantly insisted that only love could rid the world of its prejudice. To this day, as people protest peacefully for equality, they embody King’s ideals, promoting love in the belief that it will someday drive out hate.

Daily Scripture: Therefore, hold on thy way, and the priesthood shall remain with thee; for their bounds are set, they cannot pass. Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever. - Doctrine and Covenants 122:9
Daily Quote: The only opinion of us that matters is what our Heavenly Father thinks of us. Please sincerely ask Him what He thinks of you. - Reyna I. Aburto

Some of us got in a photo
out in the sunshine.
 They have good food.
I was brave and went out of my
comfort zone. Instead of the
Sweet 'n Sour Chicken I ordered
the Pineapple Curry.
It was good and filled me up so
fast I could only eat a little
over half of it.

When I got home...

Julie had been busy...
...taking the tree decorations down.
I like to leave them up till
"Three Kings' Day"
which is Jan. 6...
Then we found out Brian & Jenn
were coming Jan 11-15,
so we left the tree up a
week longer to let them see
what all the kids gave me
for my Dec 15th birthday--
this new Christmas tree
and new decorations.
One of my best gifts ever!

Family is Everything…
It snowed off and on today.
I used to have this quote on a plaque.
I'm happy to see it again:
Who said, "Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction"?
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Justin Robinson just posted this photo of the Burley Idaho Temple.

Staircase frames have been added inside the Burley Idaho Temple, and light framing for the exterior walls is progressing. A crane is used to lift and roughly position pieces of steel while workers in boom lifts make detailed adjustments and fasten them into place. The two-story temple is rising in a developing residential area at the southeast edge of Burley near the Snake River. (Photo: Ethan Searle) #burleytemple #burleyidahotemple

Family is Everything…
                and so are friends!
It is the birthday of our
friend and classmate,
Lucile Hunsaker Campbell
Though summer turns to winter
And the present disappears
The laughter we were glad to share
Will echo through the years
When other nights and other days
May find us gone our separate ways
We will have these moments to remember

Family is Everything…
 Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward

Sacrament Meeting
Tiffany Sherman and Ammie Ross
were the youth speakers today.
Dean Fletcher played a piano solo:
"How Great the Wisdom
and the Love"
John Peterson was the main speaker.
He gave a touching talk centered
on Christ "I am the Way"
and Rebecca Sterrett taught
the Relief Society lesson
on "His Light"
Jen Cheney conducted.
John had shoveled the driveway
when we got home.
Julie took my Sunday photo after we got in the house because it was cold and slippery
when we came out from Church.
We had a delicious Sunday Roast Beef dinner with friends and neighbors and had some fun games--like Neanderthal,
...Snaps...
and Ninja Numbers after.
It's always fun to have Jacee come
join us from BYU.
...amazing, spontaneous dancing
 ...happens when the music begins.

It seems to me that if you or I must choose between two courses of thought or action, we should remember our dying and try so to live that our death brings no pleasure
on the world.
— from “East of Eden” by John Steinbeck

Daily Scripture: We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men. - Articles of Faith 1:13
Daily Quote: Some may regard the quality of character known as honesty to be a most ordinary subject. But I believe it to be the very essence of the gospel. Without honesty, our lives and the fabric of our society will disintegrate into ugliness and chaos. - Gordon B. Hinckley

*I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.

At the end of this January 22nd,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.

*** *** ***
I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."

***  *** *** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.  Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
