Traces of Time . . . September 12-18, 2022

Traces of Time . . .             {Last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.}

On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and posterity to come.

Someone paid for
all eleven lunches, plus
the take-home orders that
Sue and MaryAnn got
for their husbands.

By the time the waiter told
us, whoever it was had
left. So we didn't
even get to thank
whoever it was.

I've been wondering what a crawdad was since I read the book, then saw the movie:

Crawdads

Crayfish are freshwater crustaceans belonging to the clade Astacidea, which also contains lobsters. In some locations, they are also known as crawfishcraydidscrawdaddies
crawdads,    freshwater lobstersmountain lobstersrock lobstersmudbugsbaybugs or yabbies.

They breathe through feather-like gills. Some species are found in brooks and streams, where fresh water is running, while others thrive in swamps, ditches, and paddy fields.

Pendants for jewelry are even made in the shape of a crawdad.

How fun to have John's Mom living
close enough to pop in to
see us.
Vicki, welcome to Utah and
Saratoga Springs.
Like Walt and me, she's been
an Idaho gal all her life.

Some funny quotes:

"Airlines trust I can operate an emergency door and usher hundreds of passengers to safety but think I need step by step instructions on buckling a seatbelt."

"If anyone needs some loose IKEA parts, let me know. Also, if you're ever at my apartment, I'd avoid sitting on or touching any of my furniture."

Stake Conference Saturday
Evening Session was
about making our homes
centers of righteousness.

Also how to love all
family members through
all of life's challenges.

I'm thankful they do a
webcast for those of us who
have a hard time getting out.

Saratoga Springs Stake Conference...

I'm thankful to our Stake Presidency

President Jordan Erickson

President Dayne Petersen

President Ryan Woodbury

for planning this inspiring conference.

It focused on the different parts
of the Endowment as we
await the imminent opening
of our
Saratoga Springs Temple.

I agree that there are sacred parts of temple ordinances
that we never share. However, as taught and shared
today, there are explanations that can be shared to help
us all understand better and help those receiving
their endowment be less nervous and feel
more comfortable going to the temple
for the first time.
I still have much to learn and
understand about the Endowment
and the Temple.
This made me think about the
San Salvador El Salvador Temple
where we served for three years--
July 2011 through October 2014.
This is my favorite photo of the beautiful San Salvador El Salvador Temple I took at sunrise from our temple president’s apartment on Sep 1. 2011. The temple had jjust been dedicated on August 21, 2011 by President Henry B. Eyring.

We had been there 42 days, having arrived July 20 for the last day of the Open House. We were there a little over 3 years – July 2011 through October 2014.

Here we are on our first
Christmas in El Salvador.

My favorite short summary of the Endowment:
A Definition of The Endowment

Brigham Young

Your endowment is, to receive all those ordinances in the House of the Lord, which are necessary for you, after you have departed this life, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, passing the angels who stand as sentinels, being enabled to give them the key words, the signs, and tokens, pertaining to the Holy Priesthood, and gain your eternal exaltation in spite of earth and hell.

(Brigham Young, JD 2:31)

After the photos we went to Grama Vicki's

new condo in Lehi. She gave us a tour...

It's a beautiful home for Vicki. She's been a

widow for almost a year. Brent passed away

last October 19.

* *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this

 Great Plan operational.
At the end of this September 18th,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.

"Our perfect Father does not expect us to be perfect children yet. He had only one such Child. Meanwhile, therefore, sometimes with smudges on our cheeks, dirt on our hands, and shoes untied, stammeringly but smilingly we present God with a dandelion—as if it were an orchid or a rose! If for now the dandelion is the best we have to offer, He receives it, knowing what we may later place on the altar. It is good to remember how young we are spiritually." - Neal A. Maxwell, "That Ye May Believe," p. 100

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
Daily Scripture: Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. - Psalm 150:6
Daily Quote: I think the Latter-day Saints have a great obligation pressing in upon them to rejoice in the Lord, to praise him for his goodness and grace, to ponder his eternal truths in their hearts, and to set their hearts on righteousness. - Bruce R. McConkie

I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."
Daily Scripture: And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost. - 3 Nephi 12:6
Daily Quote: We have been promised the constant companionship of the third member of the Godhead and hence the privilege of receiving revelation for our own lives. - Sheri L. Dew

Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.

President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.

The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.

Daily Scripture: This life became a probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God; a time to prepare for that endless state which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead. - Alma 12:24
Daily Quote: I invite you to diligently learn about and appreciate the eternal importance of temple covenants, temple ordinances, and temple worship as you strive to come unto the Savior. - David A. Bednar

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.  Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
