          Family is Everything…    Sunrise:  6:17 a.m. Sunset:  8:31 p.m.

I always love  paintings and quotes about
Heavenly Father's creations.
Quote from an astronaut:
This pretty card came from
Janie and Shawn and family yesterday.
She told me that she got it to
the post office in Rexburg at
3:34 on Friday...
4 minutes after the mail
went out.
I told her it would be just
as nice to get it on Monday...
and it was!

For our Wednesday night
movie, Gary and I have chosen
comedies for May.
And specifically the
"Road to..." movies
with Bing Crosby,
Bob Hope, and
Dorothy Lamour.
Seven were made from
1940 to 1962.

The first one was in 1940
Bing Crosby was age 37,
as was Bob Hope.
Dorothy Lamour was 26.

Films in the series[edit]

·         Road to Singapore (1940)

·         Road to Zanzibar (1941)

·         Road to Morocco (1942)

·         Road to Utopia (1946)

·         Road to Rio (1947)

·         Road to Bali (1952)

·         The Road to Hong Kong (1962)

·         Road to the Fountain of Youth 1977 (canceled because Bing Crosby died of a heart attack that year at age 74.- Bob Hope lived to age 101 - 2004.)

Each film is not simply a comedy but a satire of some of the popular film genres of the day, including jungle, Arabian nights, Alaskan adventure and high seas.

In 1977, an eighth Road to... movie was planned, titled Road to the Fountain of Youth, but Crosby died that year of a heart attack.[2]

In 1947, Astor Pictures released a compilation film of several of Crosby's Educational Pictures short subjects called The Road to Hollywood to evoke the series. The United States Navy also commissioned Hope and Crosby to produce the 1945 short film Road to Home.[3]

In the 1980s, Eric Idle wanted to make a film called The Road to Mars but was so frustrated by the executive meddling at Hollywood studios that he wrote it as a novel instead.                            What is the best Bing Crosby/Bob Hope "Road to _____" movie? Road to Morocco (1942) directed by David Butler and starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour and Anthony Quinn.  Two carefree castaways on a desert shore find an Arabian Nights city, where they compete for the luscious Princess Shalmar.

This, in my opinion, is the best of Crosby/Hope road movies. Yes, the plot is paper thin, but the comedy and self-deprecating humor is there. Much of the comedy is slapstick, but this is a movie that's not afraid to say it's just a movie, don't take it seriously,                                 just sit back and enjoy it.

Does a new study solve the mystery of sudden infant deaths?  -- May 2022

"SIDS" - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

"Australian researchers believe they know what causes sudden infant death syndrome.

In a study published in the The Lancet’s eBioMedicine journal, they used dried blood spots taken at birth as part of Australia’s newborn screening program to look for what caused some apparently healthy babies to die mysteriously before they were a year old, usually in their sleep.

The culprit appears to be low levels of butyrycholinesterase, an enzyme in the autonomic system, which controls activities like unconscious breathing and the ability to wake up..."

Family is Everything…

Today I'm thinking of
our friend and neighbor
Ruth Melling.
May 13, 1937 - March 16,2022
She would have been
85 years old today.
The photo on the left
was taken at
Utah State University
when she was chosen
the Delta Phi Dream Girl.
These are photos from
the back of her
funeral program.
Ruth and Don Melling were
our friends from 1972 when
they moved to Burley.
They bought a home by
Tom and Irene Blayney.
We lived on the other side
of Tom and Irene.

Ruth's funeral was very touching.
It is online at the
Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home.

Today Julie and I went to the
Springside Elementary School
to see Rigdon's
first grade habitat
of animals' display.
Rigdon did a giraffe.

We talked with almost
each first grader about
their animal...
leopards, buffalo,
lions, tigers, hippos...
even wild African dogs.
And it would end with a
black snake.

Then Julie hugged
her darling first
grader goodbye.

What a fun project
for first graders.

Rigdon's first grade
teacher is in the yellow shirt.

I told Julie all I remember
about first grade is reading

"See Dick and Jane run."
Rigdon taught us a lot
about giraffes.

                    Family is Everything…

Today it is 77 degrees.
Julie's fb post:

My husband keeps our house so cold my kids

feel like it’s always the middle of winter. Even

on a beautiful day like today.

 I watched the movie:
"The Diary of Anne Frank"
today. I've seen it several times.
Then I read through a special
new magazine Gary brought me,
entitled: "Anne Frank -
The Diary at 75 Years"
Powerful!.

Info from Wikipedia

"The Diary of Anne Frank is a 1959 film based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1955 play of the same name, which was in turn based on the posthumously published diary of Anne Frank, a Jewish girl who lived in hiding with her family during World War II. It was directed by George Stevens...

All Frank's writings to her diary were addressed as "Dear Kitty". It was published after the end of the war by her father, Otto Frank. All of his family members had been killed by the Nazis. The film was shot on a sound stage duplicate of the factory in Los Angeles, while exteriors were filmed at the actual building in Amsterdam.

It won three Academy Awards in 1960, including Best Supporting Actress for Shelley Winters. Shelley later donated her Oscar to the Anne Frank Museum. In 2006, it was honored as the eighteenth most inspiring American film on the list AFI's 100 Years."

Julie's post:

What do you do on the first day it gets over 80 degrees?

Put your swim suit on and play in the water of course! 💦 ☀️

I thought this was amazing,
for the Prophet and his wife
to gather young adults,
single and married, to
speak just to them.

To help young adults live their best lives, Prophet and Church President Russell M. Nelson encouraged them with three fundamental truths:
1. Know the truth about who you are.
2. Know the truth about what Heavenly Father and His Son have offered you.
3. Know the truth related to your conversion.
If young adults do these things, the prophet promised them “spiritual growth, freedom from fear, and a confidence that you can scarcely imagine now. You will have the strength to have a positive influence far beyond your natural capacity. And I promise that your future will be more exhilarating than anything you can presently believe.”

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.

I've always loved this quote from Alma in the Book of Mormon:

Daily Scripture: O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people! - Alma 29:1
Daily Quote: We are ambitious for Christ when we serve faithfully, accept humbly, endure nobly, pray fervently, and partake worthily. - Kazuhiko Yamashita

At the end of this May 15th,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.
*** *** ***
Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
