Traces of Time . . . May 16-22, 2022

TRACES OF TIME . . .                   {To see last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.}

THIS WEEK
 MAY 16-22, 2022
MONDAY, MAY 16, 2022                            Family is Everythi ng                               Sunrise: 6:11 a.m. Sunset:  8:38 p.m.

I had an "a-ha" moment yesterday.
When our teacher was talking about
the brazen serpent that Moses
had for them to look at so
they could be healed from
the poisonous snake bites,
Nelson said "and that's why
the medical symbol is the
single snake wrapped
around a stick."
I had never put that together.
I'm trying to find the glorious brazen
serpent graphic that Clyde Witham had
in his power point yesterday.

I need to ask Brother Witham to send
me the power point from May 15.
I only took this one photo because
I thought it would be on line in
our SS 3 Ward newsletter, but
it's not there yet.

Daily Scripture: And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. - Numbers 21:9
Daily Quote: How much energy does it take to look at something? All who looked accessed the powers of heaven and were healed. Other Israelites who were bitten failed to look at the brazen serpent and died. Perhaps they lacked the faith to look. Perhaps they did not believe that such a simple action could trigger the promised healing. Or perhaps they willfully hardened their hearts and rejected the counsel of God’s prophet. - Dale G. Renlund
Weather forecast for the week...
Gary drove me to the University of
Utah Hospital this morning so
my Rheumatology physician
could check my hands.

I may be having a flare up
of the

RS3PE that I was dx'd with
in March 2018.
It's been in remission since I
finished the 5 months on
prednisone in Aug 2018.

(Fri, May 20, they called to
tell me the blood tests are
normal and it has not
come back.)

RS3PE =
Thanks, Gary, for getting
me to these medical appointments.
I know Dad is smiling down  from
heaven at how well our children
are taking care of their
widowed mother.

Family is Everything…

                          Tuesday is trash day.
The little kid in me still
gets excited about
the trash truck...
  INSTITUTE --
Camie covered two parables:
"The Parable of the Pharisee
and the Publican"
and
"The Parable of the
Good Shepherd."

Luke 18:9-14

  Aseop's Fable
Pharisee = the Tortoise
Publican = the Hare

  Institute
 They were in the temple.

The Pharisee was:
Arrogant, felt superior,
outward, consumed,
self centered,
all about "me, me. me."

The Publican was:
Humble, felt inferior,,
inward, cried to God,
a far off.
  The scripture says:
If you exalt yourself, you will be abased.
If you humble yourself, you will be exalted.

In seeing ourselves, Heather said she
learned it can be described in "three C's"

1. Compare 2. Criticize 3. Categorize

Do we follow the letter of the law,
or the Higher Law?

Sometimes we get stuck in a paradigm.

Christ is the Good Shepherd.
We all need the Savior!
And to remember my brother
in mercy.

Give our will to Him daily.

Hear His Voice and Follow Him

Obedience is the path.
Faith is the way.

In a shepherd's fold, there is only one way in

and one way out. And the sheep follow their

shepherd's voice in and out. And while in

they are protected.

The Savior is always at the door
for us to open it.

I think there were about
20 in class today.

Next Tuesday, May 24
Camie would like us to come to
class prepared to answer:
"How I see Christ differently
in my life after studying
His Parables."

It is on the
"Parable of the
Vine and the Branches."

It is the end of the Semester.
Class will resume in September.

We are thankful for Camie, for the                        time she takes in preparing these lessons,       and for the Spirit she teaches with in        guiding us to a deeper understanding of      these scriptures.                                                Our testimonies grow stronger during           each lesson. We go away better than we came!  Thank you...

Family is Everything…

     Ladies' Lunch was at

Culver's in Lehi
Eleven were able to come:
Clockwise from bottom left:
Katy (Tammy's cousin),
Tammy, Jennie, Sharon,
Carol, Kaye, Linda H,
Kathie, Sue,
MaryAnn, and Eileen.
Katy, and Tammy.
Jennie is having
cataract surgery tomorrow.
We will pray for her.
 I took a photo of these 7
who could stay for the
photo in the sunshine.

Kaye suggested everyone
hold your hand like this.
Then a sweet gal dashed
out and said she'd take
a photo of us all together.
So here's 8 of us:
L-R: Eileen, Sue, Kaye,
Carol, Sharon, MaryAnn,
Linda H, and Kathie.
Oh, Kathie got her hand
up in this one.

Sharon said that gal may
have thought we just got
together once a year or so.
We always miss those
who can't come.

Culver's is a fun place.

So many choices...
Several got the halibut...
I did.
Several got their
famous custard...
I did.
Thank you, Sharon, for
choosing such fun places
for us to have lunch
together each Wednesday!

Culver’s is a casual fast food restaurant chain and it was founded in 1984. With its own efforts, continuous innovation and high-quality food, Culver’s restaurants are becoming more and more popular. At the same time, in order to facilitate more people to taste the food, Culver’s restaurants are gradually expanding its scale and quantity. Of course, the food at Culver’s restaurants is very attractive. They offer a variety of foods, including fish, cheese curds, chicken, and salads. And their signature dishes are “ButterBurger” and frozen custard that most people are familiar with. Culver’s choose the best ingredients and will ensure that the food they eat is fresh and delicious, which can make people keep healthy. In addition, they use family farm-fresh dairy to make delicious frozen custard.

THURSDAY, MAY 19,2022                         Family is Everything…

I had a real serendipity today!
Susan Toner had come to Utah yesterday and had texted me to see if I'd like to go back with her to Burley today for the closing luncheon for our Serendipity Book Club. So I did.

Julie drove me out to Susan's son's home in Bluffdale his morning,
and we headed to Idaho.

The luncheon was at Bonnie Fronk's home--which is just four homes south of where we lived for 47 years (all but our first 5 years in Burley).

It was a fun surprise!

Bonnie prepared 13 Cornish game hens.

I asked her how many special luncheons and dinners she has served for special groups and extended family over the years.
She said  "Probably 200 or more.
I love to entertain~!

Susan brought her famous home-made rolls. Each dish that everyone brought
was delicious!!

Bonnie always sets a beautiful table~!
Colorful and nutricious salads,
plus colorful and yummy desserts.

Fourteen were able to gather...

FRIDAY, MAY 20, 2022
Family is Everything…

Today Susan, Kenna, and I had lunch together at Shon Hing.
We used to have lunch together
twice a year--in May for Kenna's
birthday, then in December for
both Susan and my birthdays,
which are just 3 days apart...
but she's way younger than I am.
Today

SATURDAY, MAY 21, 2022
                    Family is Everything…

Today is Maddie's birthday...
Happy "15"

Maddie is a ballroom dancer
with the BYU Youth Ballroom program.
Today Susan's son, Jeremy,
met us at Perkins for breakfast.
Jeremy has lived several years
in Ohio but about a year ago
he and his wife Cheyenne, who is
from Oakley, have moved back to Oakley.
 Idaho is blessed to
have them back.

They had just been here a
couple of months when his
Dad unexpectedly passed away.
He is helping his Mom in many ways.
Susan drove me back to Utah
that afternoon. She is such a
gracious hostess. It has been a
joy to be with her in her beautiful home
in the country, to deepen our friendship,
and to also be with other dear friends.

Not only are families forever...
so are friends~!

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this May 22nd,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.

Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
