vacation from school.

David and Julie are in charge this year. We are so
thankful to them for all the planning and preparation
they have done.

We are so excited to get together! We put together a tentative schedule last week, then we found out that William has his 2-day Championship Finals swim meet on exactly the days of the WEPR! :-( So we have been trying to work through that. Here is the new updated schedule, still subject to change and refinement
Friday 8/6/21
Breakfast - On Your Own
9:00 - Hogle Zoo (Optional, up to you) $20 per adult ($16 for age 3-12)
Lunch - On Your Own (at the Zoo, fast food, etc.)
1:00 Gather at Draper Cinemark for Private movie viewing on us: Jungle Cruise! Movie starts at 1:30 sharp. We will cover the cost of the theater, Snacks etc. on your own.
4:00 Reconvene at our Stake Center: Pickle Ball!
6:00 Dinner: Pizza (sides etc. to be assigned)
Saturday 8/7/21
Breakfast - On Your Own
10:00 - Aquarium $22 Adults; $19 age 13-19; $17 age 3-12
Lunch - On Your Own (at the Aquarium, fast food, etc.)
2:00 Gather at our Boulter Chapel - activities at the church in draper
6:00 Dinner: Chik-Fil-A (nuggets/chicken strips - sides to be
assigned)
Evening - chat and hang out / Dance Party?
As you can see, instead of assigning families a specific meal,
we just figured everyone could do breakfast and lunch for their own families,
as activities at those times are on-the-go things. Then we will arrange for a
main course both nights, and assign sides to bring. It will be about $20 per
person for the main courses ($10 per meal per person - probably easiest to just
Venmo us).
This is still subject to change, but we wanted to give a general
idea of the plan. The main point is to be together!

We are doing Alfred Hitchcock mysteries for August.

Thinking about WEPR 2020...
WEPR
– 2020 A
wonderful highlight last year—July 17, 2020, was the
wedding of Heidi &
Pono by Utah Lake. They
got to be in Hawaii this June and July with Pono's family. Now 4 of the g-kids
in this photo have graduated and getting ready to
go to college: Jacee, BYU Provo; Michael BYU-Idaho; Taylor, University of
Colorado in Boulder majoring in environmental urbanization; and
I don't know where Jacob is going to college.
We have 4 currently on missions:
Carter Brazil San Salvador South … 2019-Sep
2021, he will be starting college when he returns; Anna Helsinki Finland June
2020-Dec 2021 and will start her second year at BYU-Provo;
Seth Brazil Recife--he is actually flying there today, Aug 5; and Sarah
Argentina Buenos Aires West, started home MTC July 6, interim
will be Temple Square SLC; Seth and Sarah (twins) will begin their second years
at BYU-Provo when they return.
Aimee received her degree in graphics' design—mostly at BYU-Idaho--and is
currently using that talent to design Grampa's and my headstone; Aimee's
husband, Michael--a BYU-I grad--continues to excel in the U.S. Air Force, based
in Oklahoma City.
We had two graduate from college this year—Heidi,
and Sam's wife Sara--major dance; Sam is attending BYU-I; Pono received his
Master's Degree from University of New Mexico and will
be going to graduate school at Columbia University in New York to work on his
PhD in Education, emphasis Dance; Heidi and Pono do ballroom
dancing, and Heidi also choreographs, plus does makeup and hairstyling for
ballroom competitions. Update Aug6,2021: They gave me a cute card announcing that they are expecting a baby on March 3, 2022. This will be our 3rd great-grandchild belonging to our family. We are so happy and excited for this blessed event!~ Pono will start his PhD classes online and they will live in Rexburg for a year.
Daniel received his M.D. degree at
the Unified Services University in Bethesda in the Air Force program and is
doing a 4-year residency in psychiatry in Dayton, Ohio; Daniel's wife
Kelly will no-doubt continue to excel in her dance to teach and perform there
in Dayton.
Katie is head cheerleader coach at Madison High plus
teaches and choreographs ballroom; Parker continues excelling at his Security
Systems and other businesses--they both take very good care of
Taitum and Diesel.
Ashley is doing ballroom dancing with her brother Michael;
Ashley also
has her Aesthetician certificate, plus teaches ballroom and choreographs.
McKell continues teaching, performing, and singing in the theater world; Abbey
is doing online university classes.
Kelsey, a University of Utah grad in sports medicine, recently finished a
Construction Supervisor Course taught by Steve and is excelling at her new job
with Wright Construction; Kelsey's husband, Josh--Snow College--recently started with a
new company with his expertise in Air Conditioning is excelling.
Cortney continues to love her job of staging for new
homes.
Kimble is now a full-fledged Rescue Swimmer with the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska based in Kodiak.
Josh, a UofU grad, major English--is editor of the on-line part of Salt Lake Magazine.
Slate is so good at comforting families in mourning as he
works with his father at the funeral home in Shelbyville.
Olivia
is beginning her second year in PA school in Nashville.
Emma is working in Nashville.
The others in high
school, Jr. High, middle school, and grade school are returning
(Brian & Jennifer's twins already started 4th grade in Tennessee Aug 2!)
and will all study hard in another year of education.
We are proud of, love, and have joy in each one of our 7 children, their
spouses, 39 grandchildren--7 of whom are married, and the two great grandchildren in our family.
This is longer
than I intended, but as I got going, I kept remembering about each one and
where they each are on the journey of this life on earth.
As
the Bible says: "...we have joy in our posterity."

Friday 8/6/21 Here's what happened... Friday: Janie and Shawn, Heidi and Pono watched Ashley and Michael compete in the Latin section of Ballroom at the Wilkinson Center at BYU.The rest of us gathered at 1:00 at Draper Cinemark for movie: The Jungle Cruise. It was great and had some great surprises and twists in it!

Will got a bronze medal in the IM - Individual y of the four: Butterfly stroke, Back stroke, Breast stroke, and Free style stroke. {The next day he would get 2 gold and 1 silver.}

From the movie we went to Will's swim meet and will do pickle ball tomorrow. Then Julie and John went to BYU to see Jacee compete in Ballroom at the Wilkinson Center at 7:30. Shawn, Ashley and Michael went to watch her. Gary went to the Single Adults' Dance; Isaac went to a birthday party.
There was so much smoke in the air it made the sun an eerie red.
Steve said it felt like the apocolypse...so we should all watch an apocolypse movie. He said some of them did at his home.

Ashley went to the airport early to fly to Virginia where her husband, Isaac, is finishing his summer's work in pest control. Breakfast - On Your Own -- Ten of us had brunch at Gourmandise--a quaint French Café about 10 min from the Aquarium: Shawn, Pono, Heidi, Natalie, Steve, Michael, Janie, Gary, Isaac, Grama.

during the Nerf Wars...and have fun with his family,
like the young #20 on his Wendell High basketball team
at age 17 in February 1952...
...or age 26 in August 1960, on the way to
Idaho Falls to a college buddy's mission report,
when we got pinned after dating 5 weeks...
...or at age 27 having just come out of the
Salt Lake Temple on June 14, 1961...

of Burley 7th Ward
for four years.)
...becoming a grandfather at age 53 (almost 54)
in 1988, when Aimee was born; then our
second grandchild, Daniel, in 1990 at age 56.
(He has been stake president of the new
Burley Idaho West Stake for 7 years.)
...on our 50th Wedding Annivesary
June 14, 2011,
Walt was age 77, and we had 32 grandchildren.
Our first grandchild, Aimee was married
June 25, 2011, to Michael Mecham
in the Rexburg Idaho Temple.
Walt was temple president of the new
San Salvador El Salvador Temple
from July 2011 to Nov 2014...ages 77-80.
Fishers came to visit us the end of
Aug, first part of Sept 2013.
Walt gave grandson, Sam Fisher, his
Patriarchal Blessing there in the
Temple President's apartment on
September 1, 2013.
Sam was age 14 1/2.
Walt has given Patriarchal Blessings
to ten of his grandchildren:
Aimee, Daniel, Katie, Heidi, Sam,
Ashley, and Michael Fisher.
McKell, Abbey Petersen.
Kimble Petersen.
Walt was in Utah Mar 19, 2014 for the
replacement of his aortic valve.
Two of the many who came to see him
were granddaughter Kelsey
and her fiance Josh Taylor.
We flew from San Salvador Utah for
their wedding July 31, 2014.
He was just at the end
of his recuperation on his
80th birthday on April 17, 2014.

that day to do a dance performance for him.
We got home from our three years
just in time for Grampa to seal
Katie & Parker Anderson in the
Rexburg Temple November 1, 2014.
In April 2015 Walt began a tradition
with his brother Dale, and his wife Connie,
to rendezvous each Wednesday at the
Twin Falls Temple to do a session,
then had dinner together.
We continued this until we moved
from Idaho to Utah in Aug 2018.

Walt age 81.
In October 2015 Walt, 81, gave Kimble, 16,
his patriarchal blessing just before
they went to General Priesthood Meeting.
The first great-grandchild born as part
of our family came in January 2016
when Taitum was born to
Katie & Parker.
2016 - October 6-7 Walt's four sons went on
a road trip with him to see where
their Dad had gone to college --
University of Idaho in
nothern Idaho - Moscow.

When Brian married Jennifer in 2017,
she added 4 more wonderful
grandchildren, bringing out total to 39.

2017 - Walt was 83 when we went to is cousin,
Audrey Petersen Hibler's 80th birthday
celebration in Sept 2017.

Seventy-two years ago,
the summer after 5th grade,
Walt, at age 11, had worked for Audrey's
Dad, Uncle Stan, on his rented farm lands in
Garland, Utah. Walt's kids all know
the story of his buying his first shot gun
there at the Hardware Store in Garland
with some of the money he earned.
Grama Jane had told Uncle Stan that he
shouldn't pay Walt so much. Uncle Stan
had replied: "He worked like a man,
he should get a man's wages!"
(I think this photo is about 1942 or '43
about 2 or 3 years before Walt would
have spent the summer of 1945,
and then he also worked for
Uncle Stan the next summer.)

country on our 4 missions.)

The date talked about in June has to be changed because Natalie found out when putting that date in her calendar it was already scheduled for her Smith Family Reunion.
Julie & John are working out another date and will let you know as soon as possible.
And another reminder that when Brian & Jennifer are in charge for 2023, they would like us all to come to Tennessee.

Walt was born in Wendell, Idaho,and lived in Idaho 64 of his 86 years. Eileen was born in the Twin Falls Idaho Hospital going home to Wendell from there, and lived in Idaho for 57 of my 85 years.
Married June 14, 1961 in Salt Lake Temple. We thank our children and grandchildren for the wonderful 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration.they hosted for us in June 2011. For 50th we went on a Mediterranean cruise to be with D. Kelly Ogden as he lectured "In the Footsteps of Paul the Apostle." We have lived in St. Louis,MO, Minneapolis,MN; Talihina,OK; Burley,IDAHO 42 years, 3 years in Merida, Mexico;;2 years in Guatemala City, Guatemala; 18 mos in Argentina,Oct 2008 to Mar 2010; and 3 years as temple president and matron of the new (dedicated Aug 21, 2011) San Salvador El Salvador Temple for--July 2011 to Nov 1, 2014. As of Aug 2018 we moved to live with our daughter Julie, her husband John, and their 4 children in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Walt passed away of Lewy Body Dementia on Aug 21, 2020 at age 86.
We love and adore each other, our 7 children, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren and 6.ggc..
Walt was a physician, I was a medical secretary for PHT, then homemaker and mother.

Will got a bronze medal in the IM - Individual y of the four: Butterfly stroke, Back stroke, Breast stroke, and Free style stroke. {The next day he would get 2 gold and 1 silver.}

From the movie we went to Will's swim meet and will do pickle ball tomorrow. Then Julie and John went to BYU to see Jacee compete in Ballroom at the Wilkinson Center at 7:30. Shawn, Ashley and Michael went to watch her. Gary went to the Single Adults' Dance; Isaac went to a birthday party.There was so much smoke in the air it made the sun an eerie red.Steve said it felt like the apocolypse...so we should all watch an apocolypse movie. He said some of them did at his home.

Walt was temple president of the newSan Salvador El Salvador Templefrom July 2011 to Nov 2014...ages 77-80.Fishers came to visit us the end of Aug, first part of Sept 2013.Walt gave grandson, Sam Fisher, hisPatriarchal Blessing there in theTemple President's apartment onSeptember 1, 2013.Sam was age 14 1/2.Walt has given Patriarchal Blessingsto ten of his grandchildren:Aimee, Daniel, Katie, Heidi, Sam, Ashley, and Michael Fisher.McKell, Abbey Petersen.Kimble Petersen.
Walt was in Utah Mar 19, 2014 for thereplacement of his aortic valve.Two of the many who came to see himwere granddaughter Kelsey and her fiance Josh Taylor.We flew from San Salvador Utah fortheir wedding July 31, 2014.
He was just at the end of his recuperation on his80th birthday on April 17, 2014.
We got home from our three years just in time for Grampa to seal Katie & Parker Anderson in theRexburg Temple November 1, 2014.
In April 2015 Walt began a traditionwith his brother Dale, and his wife Connie,to rendezvous each Wednesday at theTwin Falls Temple to do a session,then had dinner together.We continued this until we movedfrom Idaho to Utah in Aug 2018.

In October 2015 Walt, 81, gave Kimble, 16, his patriarchal blessing just before they went to General Priesthood Meeting.
The first great-grandchild born as partof our family came in January 2016when Taitum was born toKatie & Parker.
2016 - October 6-7 Walt's four sons went ona road trip with him to see where their Dad had gone to college --University of Idaho innothern Idaho - Moscow. fyi: {Idaho is Mos-coe}{Russia is Mos-cow}Walt was 82.
When Brian married Jennifer in 2017,she added 4 more wonderfulgrandchildren, bringing out total to 39.

2017 - Walt was 83 when we went to is cousin, Audrey Petersen Hibler's 80th birthdaycelebration in Sept 2017.

Seventy-two years ago, the summer after 5th grade,Walt, at age 11, had worked for Audrey'sDad, Uncle Stan, on his rented farm lands inGarland, Utah. Walt's kids all knowthe story of his buying his first shot gunthere at the Hardware Store in Garlandwith some of the money he earned.Grama Jane had told Uncle Stan that heshouldn't pay Walt so much. Uncle Stanhad replied: "He worked like a man,he should get a man's wages!"(I think this photo is about 1942 or '43about 2 or 3 years before Walt wouldhave spent the summer of 1945,and then he also worked forUncle Stan the next summer.)Stan & Vida, Audrey, Beth, Glen.(Lareen, if you see this, could you pleasesend me a family photo from 1945 or '46?Thank you.)
