Family is Everything…

Today the Neighborhood Ladies' Lunch was at Won Won Wok.

What fun square dishes they serve the food in.
Here's garlic chicken and rice.
Sharon and I each got Sweet 'n Sour Chicken.
Only four were able to come, but we had a great time together.
The food was delicious!
The photo is always better outside. Judy, Sharon, Lynda.
It was a beautiful, warm September afternoon.
Tonight is movie night with Gary.
He couldn't come, but we watched the
chosen movie together "separately."

Family is Everything…

Today I had my quarterly cleaning, which I'd postponed

from May because of the pandemic.

I took a drive through our residential area. I hadn't been to our ward building since March.]
It's still there.
They've finished the entrance sign since March.
A  N I G H T  A T  T H E  Z O O was sponsored by a company that Hamlet Homes works with.  So I got to go along.
First, we saw the giraffes. Jacee had a mask to match.
Then to the merri-go-round,,,
Rigdon rode on a colorful zebra...
Hi, Riggy, Maddie, and Jacee...
The weather was perfect--not too hot, not too cold, just right.
The sun was just starting to go down...

Today

Lots of walking for those...
...not in an electric cark like me.
We all had a very fun time at the Hogle Zoo.

Thank you to this company for furnishing yummy pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, chips, Sprite or Coke, and a chocolate chip cookies in a white sack supper, plus paying for our admission.

Family is Everything…

Today was supposed to be cold and rainy. It did sprinkle a little, but overall was still nice to have a bar-b-que at Buchanans next door.

Everyone is enjoying that last few times this year that's we'll be having hamburgers 'n hot dogs and all the fixins'  outdoors.
It struck me that this was a unique time when I got home, since "7" is our lucky number.

Family is Everything…

I'm showing afternoon photos before I share

the morning doctrine taught.

After Church Julie and John and family went

to see some fall colors in the canyon.

Some reds and yellows just barely appearing.

Some made it to the top of Bridal Veil Falls.

Julie and John invited friends to Sunday dinner.

Ready to eat after Rigdon gave
a meaningful and sweet blessing
on the food and thankfulness
to have this family here.

It's always fun to have dinner with friends.

John cooked his delicious roast, along with mashed potatoes 'n gravy,
and Julie made monkey bread served with her frozen strawberry jam.
The friends brought the always-a-favorite Texas chocolate sheet cake.

I was able to join our Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward

Worship Service today via Zoom.

Sister Kristen Jones and Brother Roger Cheney

gave inspiring talks about personal revelation.

It was nice to be back in the loop with

our local ward.

Then a Gospel Doctrine class was also zoomed.

Thank you to Vivien Bohm for an indepth lesson

from "Come, Follow Me" 3 Nephi 8-11.

This story from fb today goes along

with hearing the "Still, Small Voice" of the Savior

She focused on the same part that my friend,

Marcia Ogden, posted on face book today

about 3 Nephi 11:

My friend, Marcia Ogden, posted this great description from "Come, Follow Me" today.
This was also the focus of what our Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward Gospel Doctrine teacher taught in class via zoom this Sabbath mornng.
"Isn't it wonderful how the 'Come, Follow Me' reading assignments fit perfectly with our turbulent times? 3 Nephi 11:28 states, 'For . . . he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another.'
"I am learning that we can have meaningful discussions and learn new things as long as there is an absence of anger. Someone said, 'It is anger in the questioning that does not lead to peace of the spirit.'"

This story also from face book goes

along with this scripture about

being silent and listening:

There is a story about a farmer who lost his watch. The watch had deep sentimental value, and the man was desperate to find it.

He enlisted the aid of a group of young boys playing outside of the barn. He told them that he would award any boy that found it.
The boys looked and looked, but the farmer finally called off the search.
One boy came up to him later and asked to have a bit more time by himself in the barn. The farmer agreed. The boy came back a few minutes later with the watch.
The boy said he sat and listened for the ticking of the watch. It was much easier to locate in the silence.
After Christ’s voice was heard speaking to the Nephites, there was silence in the land for “many hours,” (3 Nephi 10:2) because they were “astonished” by the things they heard Christ speak.
So they sat in silence. For hours.
And in that silence, they heard the voice of the Lord yet again. And this time, they didn’t look around for the source like before. They located it immediately.
“The small space of Holy silence cultivated in meditation is a powerful place for the Atonement to work.” (Sheldon Lawrence)
.
There is power in silence. This is not to say that the Atonement or the Holy Ghost cannot work in the chaos of our every day. It can and will. But when we intentionally find time to ponder, we will, like the Nephites, be able to come to know our Savior’s voice better.
Find a place for silence in your day today.
Sit still and listen.
Like that young boy learned, it might be easier to find what you are looking for.

 * *** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation

and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.

At the end of this September 20th,
I pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
I share these truths as my testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.
*** *** ***
Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
