Family is Everything...
Presidents' Day
Happy Birthday, Julie.
This is the time for a year divine.
Birthday breakfasts are a
special times for donuts
and chocolate milk.
The donuts and chocolate milk breakfast
is one tradition I think
that most all seven of our
children have carried on from
our home,
along with decorating with
streamers, balloons,
and the "Happy Birthday" banner.
Julie was sick most of the day.
Jacee was able to coax her out
of bed long enough to do a
sparkly candle on a miniature
birthday cake.
 Here's the sparkly candle...
Jacee tried to light it again to
show Grampa 'n me the
"sparkle," but it was only
a one-time sparkler.
Looking back...
From Julie's Burley High School
senior year photo shoot.
...and way back here is Julie
at age 3 with her 4-y-o
brother, David.
Someone in the family said:
"Can you see Maddie and Sam."
Back to this year...
Skiing...a fun family sport.
FHE was cancelled tonight
because of President's Day.
Next Monday it will be at
Allen and Jennie Andersen's home

Karen, R.N., came to check on
Walt this afternoon.
I was at Costco having my
hearing aids cleaned and
buying some syringes at
their Pharmacy for my
Insulin injections when
she came.
Julie was at home with Walt
when Karen came.
I didn't take any other photos today.

Family is Everything...
These three buddies--
Max, Jordan, and Rigdon
had fun outside today with
Julie taking them on adventures.
Wednesday is
Movie Night with Gary.
  Gary likes watching these
old movies as much
as we do.

Tonight we watched a movie
made 85 years ago...
the year Walt was born:
"It Happened One Night"
from 1934 with Claudette Cobert (age 30}
and Clark Gable (at age 33).
Information from Wikipedia
"It Happened One Night is a 1934 pre-Code American romantic comedy film with elements of screwball comedy directed and co-produced by Frank Capra, in collaboration with Harry Cohn, in which a pampered socialite (Claudette Colbert) tries to get out from under her father's thumb and falls in love with a roguish reporter (Clark Gable). The plot is based on the August 1933 short story "Night Bus" by Samuel Hopkins Adams, which provided the shooting title. Classified as a "pre-Code" production, the film is among the last romantic comedies created before the MPPDA began rigidly enforcing the 1930 Motion Picture Production Code in July 1934. It Happened One Night was released just four months prior to that enforcement.[4]
[Only two other movies have won all five of these major Academy Awards: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Silence of the Lambs.]
In 1993, It Happened One Night was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."[5] In 2013, the film underwent an extensive restoration.[6][7]"

Happy Birthday
to our first-born
granddaughter,
Aimee.
Here she is meeting her
air force husband, after his
several-month deployment
at one of the battle fields.
Marci came to help Walt
start his day.
We each got our second and final
injection for Shingles at the
Smith's Pharmacy this afternoon.
The pharmacist told us it's 95%
effective in keeping us from
ever getting Shingles again.
It cost a lot, but worth it!
Walt: Flu Shot – Oct. 14.
#1 Shingles Shot $145.62– Oct 30, 2019
#2 Shingles Shot Feb 20, 2020 $152.80.
Eileen: Flu Shot – Sep. 27, 2019;
#1 Shingles Shot  $145.62 – Oct 30, 2019;
#2 Shingles Shot Feb 20, 2020 $152.80
We've each had Shingles twice.
It's no fun.
This pharmacist has worked
with Randy Drake in Heber.
Randy and Rita Drake were friends
in our Burley 7th Ward. We knew that
Rita passed away several years ago.
Small world!

The BYU vs Santa Clara
game was nip 'n tuck in the
second half till about the
last 5 minutes...then
the Cougars pulled out a
10 point lead--85-75.
Way to go Cougars...
Here's a write up about the game.
Here's a fun summary from a
talented sports writer.
"Sometimes the game of basketball is simple.
Just put the ball in the hands of T.J. Haws.
BYU’s senior guard absolutely took over the game on Thursday in the Marriott Center when the Cougars needed some kind of answer to shake off a stubborn Santa Clara team.
Haws finished with 28 points and nine assists and only two turnovers — as well as 12 of 12 from the foul line — but it was his sensational work with five minutes to play and the game tied at 66 that set him apart from the rest.
Haws had his fingerprints on every score in a critical 15-3 run, putting in eight points and assisting on three other baskets, including Yoeli Childs backbreaking 3-pointer with 1:10 to play for an 81-69 Cougar lead that would hold up for BYU’s seven straight West Coast Conference victory — the first time that has happened in nine years in the league..."

Family is Everything...
Walt tried to get ready to
go to Church today, but
his legs were too weak for
him to walk steadily, so
after he shaved we went
back to bed.

My ministering sisters came to
visit about Noon. Leslie has been
sick this month and not able to come
earlier.  Jackson took a photo us
Walt and me with Kathy and Leslie.
 Walt and Eileen
We had a lovely Sunday dinner,
then had a nap until it was time
for the monthly family
"Sundae Sunday."
Gary and Isaac were in charge
of the treats today.
Gary brought 13 different kinds
of Ben 'n Jerry's ice cream for
everyone to taste test.
One kind had "spicy brownie" in it,
no one except Gary liked it.
Walt liked the Mint one and
also the Sea Carmel one.
Gary said every so often Smith's
has their Ben 'n Jerry's ice cream
on half price...so it was a bargain.

Julie and Natalie had a chance
to catch up.
 Julie, David, and Natalie...
 Gary and Steve...

 Walt and Eileen...
We love having our family gather together.
Our four kids who live within
25 minutes of each other here
in South Salt Lake and
Utah Valley area...
Gary, Steve, Julie, David.
 Who's tallest?
Sam or Jackson...
Looks like Jackson has Sam by
a fraction of an inch.
 Cousins...
Rigdon, Isaac, William,
Sam, and Jackson.

 Rigdon never knows what his
Uncle Steve is up to...
There were 15 of us together tonight.
We didn't get a photo of the entire
group together, but here's a photo
of the Uncles and boy cousins.
 Steve, Gary, and David join
their Dad.
Jackson jumps in, too.
Thanks, Gary and Isaac for a
great "Sundae Sunday."
Thanks Gary and Isaac for
bringing the treats.
Issac is excited that his ward youth
go to the Mt. Timanogosis Temple
every Thrusday morning to do 4:30 a.m.
baptisms.  He gets up at 3:30 a.m. to
be ready. We're proud of you, Isaac!
We enjoy being together.

We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this February 23rd,
we pray you have had a
restful, peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
We share these truths as our testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.
*** *** ***
I am thankful for a husband who holds and honors the Priesthood of God. He has been the patriarch of our home in righteousness. I honor and love him with all my heart. We are eternal sweethearts, sealed as husband and wife in the temple of God by Priesthood Authority for time and for all eternity.
*** *** ***
Of these truths we testify in the
Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
