Family is Everything...
Today is Taylor's birthday.
Happy 17th Birthday, Taylor.
Wish you didn't live so far away.
Hope all is well with you in Tennessee.
Thanks for coming to the WEPR reunion
last summer so we could have some time
with you then.

Since these early members of
The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints were
refugees and helped by the
kind families in Quincy, Illinois,
Sister Williams thought it would
be a special
Institute voluntary project
by members of the class--
who would like to--
donate a blanket to
send to refugees of today.
Here's what Camie wrote Saturday
after she had taken the blankets
to where they could be sent to
the refugees:
On Feb 29, 2020, at 2:55 PM, Camie Williams wrote:
"Thank you kind and generous people of Saratoga!  Because of you hearts will be comforted and lifted.  Over 60 blankets and other items were donated for refugees. 'Small and simple things.'  Sometimes that’s all it takes.  Thank you for being the good in the world!
Some of you asked for more information about this project so please see the link below. Sorry I didn’t include in last email."
I felt like it was as if we were
covering the Prophet Joseph
and his fellow prisoners in
warm, comforting blankets
in that cold and damp basement
of Liberty Jail back in the
winter of 1839.
Thank you for the opportunity,
Camie and Sue.

When I got home from Institute
on Tuesday, sweet Jen Cheney
had come to be on call for
Walt for those 20 minutes
that Julie took Jacee to
the orthopedic surgeon,
before Heather drove me
home from Institute.
Thank you for you kindness, Jen.
And she brought some
delicious sugar cookies.
Our Granddaughter, Anna,
received her mission call today.
She's coming tomorrow to "open"
it again for us, since Walt can't
travel away from home now.

Today is Sam's birthday.
Happy 14th Birthday, Sam.
(We need a current photo of Sam.
Why didn't I take one of him last
Sunday at Sundae Sunday???)

Anna's Mission Call
 "Dear Sister Petersen...
...(fourth paragraph)
"You are assigned to labor in the
Finland Helsinki
Mission
and will prepare to
preach the gospel in the
Finnish language.
Please report to the
Provo Missionary Center on
Wednesday, June 24, 2020..."

How exciting!
Anna, thank you for coming to
share your mission call with us.
We are so happy for your decision
to serve the Lord on a mission!
Your whole family will be on
this mission with you during
those 18 months that you
are so far away in Finland.
Julie, Josh, David, and Anna.
A proud brother, Mom and Dad
then drove Anna back to her
classes at BYU in Provo.

Tonight we watched...
Information from Wikipedia
"Breakfast at Tiffany's is a 1961 American romantic comedy film directed by Blake Edwards and written by George Axelrod, loosely based on Truman Capote's 1958 novella of the same name. Starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, and featuring Patricia NealBuddy EbsenMartin Balsam, and Mickey Rooney, the film was initially released on October 5, 1961, by Paramount Pictures.
Hepburn's portrayal of Holly Golightly as the naïve, eccentric café society girl is generally considered to be one of the actress's most memorable and identifiable roles. Hepburn regarded it as one of her most challenging roles, since she was an introvert required to play an extrovert.[2]
Breakfast at Tiffany's was received positively at the time, and won two Academy Awards: Best Original Score and Best Original Song for
"Moon River", which was also selected as the fourth most memorable song in Hollywood history by the American Film Institute in 2004. The film was also nominated for three other Academy Awards: Best Actress for Hepburn, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Art Direction.

In 2012, the film was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry."

Leap Year Day

Family is Everything...
Marci came to help
Walt start his day...
but I didn't get a photo.
Here's what it looked like outside
at noon as John and Julie,
Jackson, Maddie, and Riggy
drove off to ski at Brighton.
Here's what Julie posted on face book
for their family ski day...
"This may have been our last ski trip of the season.
It was overcast but warm...
(
"...Riggy and I skied without gloves most of the day...
"...I sure love skiing with my family...
"...Can’t wait until Jacee can join us
again in a few years."
--and I add:
Riggy, at age 5, is learning fast
how to ski well.
...meanwhile, back at the ranch:
While Walt waited in the car
when I drove to Smith's
for a few things, he listened to
the February book of the month
for our Sibling Book Club chosen
by David: One Doctor by
Brendan Reilly, M.D.
It is fascinating, and brings
back memories to Walt of
all that he did for many years!
Thanks, David, for a great choice.
Actually, each month a great
book has been chosen.
Just think how many books we
have read (listened to) since we
came home in November 2014...
let's see that's 64 books just
for us. And I think the brothers
and sisters had started their
monthly book choices earlier
in 2014...so our kids have read
(listened to) even more!
Told by a unique voice in American medicine, this epic story recounts life-changing experiences in the career of a distinguished physician, and is described by The New York Times as “a true service [to history]. Dr. Reilly deserves a resounding bravo for telling it like it is.” Malcolm Gladwell agrees: “Brendan Reilly has written a beautiful book about a forgotten subject—what it means for a physician to truly care for a patient.”

And now--4:00--it was time for the
BYU Basketball team's final
game of the regular season...
in Malibu, California.
We were all holding our breath to see if
the Cougars could stretch their
winning streak to 9 and qualify
for a great seed in the upcoming
West Coast Conference Tournament.
After a shaky start and
being behind at half-time 32-35,
the great five starters pulled ahead
to win by 17 points...
81-64
Willie the Wave
The story of the Pepperdine mascot is
long and complicated...
This is one "Wave" that the BYU Cougars
were able to ride the complete surf...
Great win, Cougars!
Congratuations to Yoeli Childs on
scoring a career high 38 points.

And now, goodbye...
Leap Year Day for another
four years.
SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2020

Horray! It's March!
Winter is about over. Yahoo
Family is Everything...
Walt felt he was too weak
to go to Church today.
And there were some snow
flurries in the big drop
in temperature.
Thank you to John and Jackson
for administering the Sacrament
to give us today.
As always, it was authorized
by Bishop Mardesich.

We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this March 1st,
we pray you have had a restful ,
 peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
We share these truths as our testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.

Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.

President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.

The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.

I am thankful for a husband who holds and honors the Priesthood of God. He has been the patriarch of our home in righteousness. I honor and love him with all my heart. We are eternal sweethearts, sealed as husband and wife in the temple of God by Priesthood Authority for time and for all eternity.

Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
