Family is Everything…
Natalie came over and cut
my hair this morning.
Thank you, Natalie.
Since you're the best beautician in Utah,
I decided I would impose on your time
to do this!
And you're also the best Cross Fit Coach
in Utah, coaching many.
Grampa knows where the
treats are...
Yes, I see you got a treat, Walt.

We discussed the life of Abraham
as recorded in
Genesis 11-27.
What a mighty Prophet!

My cell camera battery died after
this picture...so I used Walt's cell camera.
Teresa Muse took a photo of us,
and also Joanie Quigley took a photo.
Thank you, gals, for helping us.
New friends from Institute Class:
Joanie Quigley and
Teresa Muse
After Institute we picked up a
prescription for Walt, washed the car,
and got gasoline.

Then Walt asked me to play checkers
with him to help keep his brain sharp.
He thinks hard for each move.
I'm always black.

Family is Everything...
We got up early today to
drive over to the
Mountain Point Medical Center...
...for Walt to get two more
injections in his knee.
Then Gary picked us up to drive
Farmington to his UofU Geriatric Psychiatrist.
After our appointment, we went to see
Sharon and Dare Vandever--
friends from Emerson, who have lived in
Farmiington, Utah, for 30 years after he
was hired at Lagoon as the head carpenter.
I had a gift card from my birthday
for Applebees, so Gary found
an Applebees in Bountiful.
...bacon burger, no bun...
a little part of the Keto diet.
...salmon
...ribs
Then we were on our way
home at sunset.
...the lights of the cities are turning on.
And we're back home.
Gary, thanks for driving us.
A bonus for the night:
Natalie's face book post tonight...
"What a great way to end the day!!! Westlake beats the defending state champs in double overtime. After the game Carter explained that the wrist wrap with “mom dad” written on it was because “that’s who I play for” 😢 ❤️This kid knows where his bread is buttered. He’s pretty great! @carter_petersen7 #petersenlegacy @ Westlake High School (Utah)"

Family is Everything…
Marci helped Walt get ready
for the day.
I had a 5-month follow-up appointment
at the UofU Rheumatology Clinic.
The University of Utah Hospital
is huge. I was there as a patient
a year ago on March 6-9, diagnosed
by Dr. Jessica Walsh and
Dr. Zhenhao Liu with
RS3PE syndome (Remitting Seronegative
Summetrical Synovitis with Pitting Edema)
Today Nurse Practioner Nga A. Ly
checked me and she was happy to see there
was no swelling in my hands which
means the RS3PE is still in remission.
So now I don't return for six months.
However, if my hands do start to
swell again,
I am to call them immediately
and they will put me back on prednisone.
When Nga Ly sent me to have a blood test
to check my inflammatory levels,
the gal couldn't find a good vein
in the crook of my arm so
she had to put the needle in the vein
in the back of my hand.
I wasn't very brave and closed my eyes.
And March Madness has come to the
Sweet Sixteen

Happy Friday morning...
Family is Everything…
Marci from Home Health helped
Walt start the day.
Walt start the day.

to a book signing at
Thanksgiving Point Garden Room
for the new book just published by
Ken Evans about his father's life
as a pilot in World War II
M I S S I N G
This fellow came and asked Walt
if he was a veteran.
"No, but I served in the Coast Guard,"
Walt answered.
He looked familiar to me so I asked
him his name: "Don Norton," he said.
"Oh, you're Barbara Brown's brother,"
I replied, adding "we lived in Burley for
52 years and Barbara and Paul
were good friends."
Then I reminded Don that we had also
lived in Minneapolis when he did, and
Walt had been on the same Church
basketball team that went to the Regional
Church Basketball Tournament in Chicago.
Small world!
Don was an English Professor
at BYU for many years.
We had a great time with Steve
and Natalie at the book signing!
Fast Sunday
Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward
We had 7 testimonies....
11 min; 9 min; 6 min; 7 min;
4 min; 4 min; 1 min. I think
we need instruction on what
a true testimony is.

The 5th Sunday Bishopric topic was
assigned by the Stake President:
"Provident Living/Self Reliance"
Stay or Get Out of Debt.
Doug Graham, 2C, introduced
Brett and Rebecca Sterret who
talked about following
the promptings that
come to you, aka
"follow your heart strings."
Stephanie Howell shared
Brandon's and her experience in
beginning to pay tithing.
Brother Graham said
President Mark Wilkinson, who is a
banker, said we are in the highest
boom of the past 50 years and yet
Welfare needs in the stake are higher.
We need to be ready for what lies ahead.
Here's some more highlights from the
5th Sunday Lesson as our
Relief Society blog posted:
5th Sunday of the Month Discussion on Financess - led by Brother & Sister Sterrett
"Dear Brothers and Sisters:The Lord has declared "It is my purpose to provide for my saints" (D&C 104:15). This revelation is a promise from the Lord that He will provide temporal blessings and open the door of self-reliance, which is the ability for us to provide the necessities of life for ourselves and our family members."
Firstt Presidency Message from the Self-Reliance tab in Gospel Library
The Responsibility for Welfare
Rests with Me and My Family
James E Faust (General Conference 1986)
"I wish to speak of the basic principles that keep our feet on the ground economically. This is important to our happiness....... We must build upon sound principles. The bedrock principle of which I speak is that the responsibility for welfare rests with me and my family. In 1936 the First Presidency said in a great statement of purpose, "The aim of the Church is to help the people to help themselves." Some of us are children of the Great Depression in the United States over fifty years ago. Most of us who passed through that period will never forget the difficult economic times almost everyone experienced. At that time many banks failed;people lost their life's savings;a great many were unemployed, and some of them lost their homes because they could not pay the mortgage. Many went hungry. If we didn't eat our oatmeal cereal for breakfast, we would often have it fried for lunch or dinner. Such widespread economic problems could come again. But any of us, at any time, could meet with a personal calamity, such as sickness or an accident, which could limit or destroy our income."
"Brett and Rebecca talked about listening to the spirit so that we could be directed on how best to help each of our families become more self-reliant. "When you feel those heartstrings being pulled, do you act on those impressions". Pres Packer said:...".refocus the goal of attending the temple so that our temporal and physical lives could also be blessed."
A few points that were brought up:
1. Pay your tithing
2. Attend the temple
3. Get out of debt
4. Be careful about investments
5. Be Wise
Brett and Rebecca shared that they wanted to follow President Chad Wilkinson's challenge to be out of debt in three years. Brett was inspired to start a side business that allowed them to become debt free.
Stephanie Howell and Reno Martin were asked to share a few thoughts.
Stephanie shared about the blessings of paying a full tithe and that it helped them to create a budget that they have continued to use for the past 15 years.
Reno talked about how they were blessed when he wanted to buy a very expensive toy and chose not to. He later lost his job and then needed to have a major knee replacement surgery. They continued to pay their tithing and were able to pay their bills through this difficult time. They always had enough."
"Listen, and then move your feet"
There is also a great article in the
April Ensign pg 33 on Self-Reliance."
Jackson came to help us get out
to our car. He took this photo of us.
Then it was home to another
delicious Sunday dinner cooked
by John....can't beat those
Tri-Tip roasts the way
John cooks them!
Gary brought Sunday afternoon treats--
He introduced us to Ben 'n Jerry's
over-the-top scrumptious ice cream!
He also brought the yummy
whole wheat bread from
The Cheesecake Factory.
He found it last night
at Macy 's.
Thanks, Gary.
By 9:30 Walt dozed off while
reading his scriptures.
But he did wake up enough
for us to read the April 1-14
"Come Follow Me" lesson.
Then Walt went to bed,
and I'm finishing the blog
for this last week of March.
We've enjoyed you but it's
time to say...
time to say...
Happy Fifth Sunday...
We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this March 31st,
we pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
We share these truths as our testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence. He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration. He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.

Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
