More

More fun photos I found:
This is Walt's first niece - daughter of his sister Bonnie.  Bonnie Ann is Bonnie's oldest daughter who goes by "Bonnie" now.  She had two children - Janet and Clark.  Here Bonnie is with Clark and two of his children.  Walt' sister had four children when she was married to Maurice "Mutt" Smith from Bliss, and then four children when she was married to Charles "Chuck" Degler.
Bonnie Ann, Larry, Brent, and Jeff Smith.
Mark, Kevin, Christopher, and Andrea "Andy," Degler.
Walt' sister Bonnie passed away from colon cancer at age 60 in March of 1990.
Here's Brent, Bonnie Ann, Larry - Christmas about about 1952.

Here is Walt's sister Phyllis on the left with cousin Susie Julian Sommerkorn and her husband Wilf.  Susie and Wilf live in Kaysville, Utah.
Walt's sister Phyllis passed away in August 2014 at the age of 82 from Alzheimer's and a fall breaking a hip.
This photo was taken in March 2005 at Uncle Dean's funeral in Wendell.

This is a darling photo of Laurence and Jane.  Three years after Grampa Ray died  on Feb. 17, 1970, at age 62, Grama Jane married Laurence Hashman in Feb 1973.
This photo was taken by Chuck Degler in the 1980s at a Petersen-Prescott Reunion at the Burley Riverfront Park.
And on the Petersen side of Walt's family...
here is a photo I just found of three of Ray's
eight siblings, six of whom lived to adulthood.
L-R: Hazel, Stan, Marie.
Grampa Ray's other siblings that we are pulling
up from memory are: Cliff (died of typhoid fever when
they lived in Stone), Ray, Hazel, (then Irene, a little sister who also died of typhoid fever when Cliff did), Stan, Marie,
Carl, and Lucile.
Two fun photos when my Mom, Verna Albertson, and Walt's sister and brother Phyllis, and Dale, came in Nov 1997
to visit us during the time Walt was
president of the Mexico Merida Mission.
Here we are filling the mission van with gas at a little town
near Chetumal, Mexico, which is just across the bay
from the country of Belize.
The second photo is in Cancun at a restaurante
that had a dinner show of Mexican dances.

 TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2018
Day 37 since Walt fell and broke left hip.
Day 13 Walt home from rehab center.
Julie got the yard ready for winter...
We went to Revere Health to joint specialist because Walt is having significant pain in each knee and they are buckling on him.
Walt is getting a little more steady using the walker.
When looking at these x-rays, Dr. Nielsen said the same thing Walt's other orthopedists have said:
"Worn out knees! Bone on bone...no cartilage
It was determined to give a cortisone injection in each knee to see if that would give Walt some pain relief.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2018
Day 38 since Walt fell and broke left hip.
Day 14 Walt home from rehab center.
Walt went to the dentist this morning.
The dentist found a cavity but can't fix it yet,
Because of Walt's aortic valve replacement 3 1/2 years ago,
he has to take pre-med an hour before dental work.
He will return next Monday to have the cavity repaired.
Walt had home health physical therapy today...
Steve came by  to see us on his lunch break.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2018
Day 39 since Walt fell and broke left hip.
Day 15 Walt home from rehab center.

  Walt had occupational therapy today.
We appreciate all this support he is getting.
Walt I called for Riggy and his friend to
come watch the garbage truck.
Walt's ready to go to bed.
 We turn in early sometimes.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2018
Day 40 since Walt fell and broke left hip.
Day 16 Walt home from rehab center.
We drove to the U of U Neurology Clinic today where Walt met with the geriatric Psychiatrist, Dr. Freimer, who met with Walt at the recommendation of Dr. Foster, the head of the Neurology Clinic.  Walt liked him a lot.  Walt will have follow-up sessions with him at his clinic in Farmington.
It was a nice November morning.
 Gary, thanks for coming.
Gary had a Denver omelet when we
stopped at iHop on the way home.
Walt and I had a breakfast, too.
With the boat parked out front,
we knew they were putting in the new
concrete pad for more parking.
This might be the last good weather day
of the fall for pouring concrete.
Walt did not have home health physical therapy today... The P.T. could not work it in.

We rode with Julie, Jacee, Jackson, Maddie, and Rigdon up to Draper to see Anna's play at Corner Canyon High School.
Cousins and close friends - Jacee and Anna.
Our beautiful Anna played the part of Sandra, the vixen.
She is David and Julie's daughter. (We have two Julie's in our family.)
Anna has a lot of family support--Natalie, Steve, Rigdon, Jackson, Jacee, Anna, Grampa, Gary, Grama, Maddie, Will.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2018
Day 41 since Walt fell and broke left hip.
Day 17 Walt home from rehab center.
Walt had home health help today...
What a nice surprise!
Diane called this morning to see if they could
come to see us.  They have been asked to
return to the Nauvoo Temple as temple missionaries
from Dec. 10 to June 12.  They started in Oct. 2017
but the temple was closed in Sep. 2018 for a 3-month
rennovation.  They are planning to head back the
Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
They lived in the same apartment building we were
in in Argentina. They were humanitarian missionaries.
Then Walt asked them to come serve as temple missionaries
in the new San Salvador El Salvador Temple when it
opened in August 2011.
We spent a precious two hours with them
this afternoon sharing memories and
catching up.  We love Elder and Sister Wall!
Frank's greeting to Walt was: "Hello, my Hero!"
It was raining when the Walls left.
Looked like a typical November afternoon.
Ryan came for his last home health
occupational therapy session.
Gary came tonight to watch the BYU vs New Mexico State football game with us.  When the second half started. Walt just got up and went to bed.  He was too tired to sit through anymore football.  The score was 35-7 at that point.
Rigdon came in for a few minutes to watch the game with us.

BYU wins BIG on Senior Night:
BYU 45  - New Mexico State 10.
BYU will go to a Bowl game.
Way to go Cougars!

Day 42 since Walt fell and broke left hip.
Day 18 since Walt came home from the rehab center.
We went to our Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward block this morning
from 11:00-2:00.
Julie spoke in Sacrament Meeting.  She had not told John nor us that she was speaking.  She wanted to surprise us and she succeeded.
She was assigned by the Bishopric to speak on the General Conference talk from Oct 2017 by Stephen W. Owen "Repentance is Always Positive."  She shared the joy she felt that after being less active for a long time, she and John began going to Church with their two little children, Jacee age 2 and Jackson just a baby.  And when she went through the process of repentance by talking with the Bishop what joy she felt.
It was an excellent talk.

In Sunday School we had Old Testament Lesson 42 "I Will Write It In Their Hearts," Jeremiah 16; 23; 29; and 31.  It centered a lot on The Gathering.  Even though the gathering has been ongoing, I still feel like the Lost Ten Tribes are going to come from the North with their own scriptures.

Julie taught the Relief Society lesson on the Oct 2018 General Conference talk by Michelle D. Craig "Divine Disconent." Julie shared that she taught Michelle's oldest son in third grade and knew her back when Sister Craig was in the thick of raising her children.

Julie divided us up into four groups and gave each sister a copy of the talk that had parts divided into four sections.  Then each group commented.

Part 1 was "Act in Faith"  One gal picked up on "...when I wallow in thoughts of everything I am not, I do not progress and I find it much more difficult to feel and follow the Spirit."  She said she finds it easy "to wallow" sometimes.  Several agreed to having the same feelings.

I added that the subtitle "Act in Faith" is what I did going with my husband on 4 missions to be out of the country for 9 1/2 years where only Spanish was spoken and--even though I was tutored, had lessons, studied and did learn hundreds of words--I never heard the words I knew and couldn't understand what the people were saying.

So in Sacrament Meeting for those 9 1/2 years, I would laugh when everyone else did but had no idea what I was laughing about.

Back at home, John is slicing the roast beef.
 Getting the juice poured...
 All gathered for Sunday dinner.
We had a Sunday nap then tried to figure out how to get to Rexburg for Saturday and Sunday. Walt got so disoriented about it we decided to just not go until the week between Christmas and New Year's day.

As the sun sets on this Sunday, November 18th, we hope you have had a restful and peaceful Sabbath Day.

We share these truths...
Heavenly Father lives and loves us. He always has and always will.  We are the Spirit Children of Him and Heavenly Mother. These Heavenly Parents want us to return to Them.

Jesus Christ is the First-born Spirit Child and came to earth to fulfill the Atonement, which was in effect from the days of Adam and Eve. (We just read about that tonight in our reading Mosiah 3, as explained in David Ridges commentary on the Book of Mormon.)  Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of All.

Joseph Smith is the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of All Things.

Russell M. Nelson is the current Living Prophet for the entire world.  “And as the gospel continues to reach thousands throughout the world, President Nelson says there is more to come in restoring the gospel to the earth.
‘Wait till next year, and then the next year,’ President Nelson says. ‘Eat your vitamin pills. Get some rest. It's going to be exciting.’ " October 31, 2018

The Bible is the Word of God and testifies of the Divinity of The Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true Church in the world today.

Of these truths we testify, in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
