Traces of Time . . . August 27 to September 2, 2018

Traces of Time . . .

THIS WEEK - AUGUST 27 - September 2, 2018

 MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 2018

We've had time to watch some good movies.

"All Quiet on the Western Front" is always very sobering to see

what the horrors of World War I -- or any other war -- are.

Julie got some more of our wall hangings put up.

One week after school starts,

the "School" photos will come down...

A walk to the park...

Fun playground for Rigdon...

 Lunch at Chubby's...

We had yummy hamburgers...

Unpacking his hats from every

country we've lived in or visited...

Which ones will he keep?

All of the, of course!

To the storage unit...

Rigdon calls it "the cave."

The physicians at the Rheumatology Clinic

at the University of Utah Medical Center...

Dr. Walsh and Dr. Ly

I was instructed to stop taking Prednisone since

it was diagnosed to help control the

rheumatology ailment called "RS3PE" on March 7 at the

University of Utah Hospital--5 1/2 months ago.

I was on 15 miligrams for 3 days, then 10 mg for a month, then

tapering down by two and a half miligrams each month.

I have been on just 2 1/2 mg for the past month.

So as of August 31st--tomorrow--I will no longer take

 Prednisone.
I asked Dr. Walsh if the RS3PE could recur.

She said: "Maybe, but we hope not."

Walt and I are waiting for the valet service to bring our car out front from the parking garage.  This is a great free service they offer and it is very appreciated.

We met Ross and Karen at Kneaders in

Saratoga Springs for lunch... We talked non-stop for the hour

and a half that we were together.

Karen has been a mission nurse for six years--for two different

mission presidents.  She will "retire" from this next July when

the Mission President and his wife finish their calling.

Walt thinks it is probably the Salt Lake City South Mission.

We have been friends with Ross and Karen since they moved to Burley in 1968.  They moved from Burley to Riverton in February 2005.
It is always great to be with them.

We went on a walk with Julie, Rigdon, and Max before dinner.

Jacee's going to the football game, Jackson is hangin' out...

Maddie and Rigdon are playing night games
with neighbors...

We are choosing a Friday night movie to watch

on this last evening of August.

David took us to the   Temple

to do an endowment session this afternoon.

After the temple session we went to
Seven Brothers at The Crossing for lunch.
Then Gary came over and we watched the
BYU-Arizona game.
Coach Kalani Sitaki and Coach Kevin Sumlin
BYU scored first...

But Arizona was up at half-time...

It was back and forth...
It was anyone's game until the final seconds...
and then it became apparent that BYU
would win 28-23.
We watched to the very end -- 12:15 midnight.
The headlines Sunday morning said:
"BYU Upsets Arizona in Season Opener"
Way to go, Cougars!

Sunday, September 2, 2018

We joined David and Julie and family for Church at the

Corner Canyon 1st Ward in Draper.

David was sustained as a High Councilor.
After the Church block, we went to the Stake Center
where he was set apart by the two counselors in the
Stake Presidency, President Henrie and President

Then it was to their home to prepare Sunday Dinner.

Sam and William had chosen to grill hamburgers

for this Labor Day weekend.

Grampa got to observe from the sidelines.
No restaurant hamburger compares to a homemade one.
Anna and William helped make the

Peach-Raspberry Cobbler for dessert.

Sam did a double route for Fast Offerings

so he didn't get back in time,

but the night before he had made some delicious home-

made vanilla ice cream to go with the cobbler.

He had done this while they were watching

the BYU-Arizona game.

Then it was time to head back to Saratoga Springs
so they could do their neighborhood "Walk-A-Bout."
{In their ward they do this each Fast Sunday evening from May-September
and gather at a home in their neighborhood for visiting and treats...for
the whole family.  Sounds like a great tradition!)
Julie is going to send us the photos of us and their family
that she took.
We  loved the dinner and being with them today.

We are sad we couldn't work out a time when both we
and our nephew, Michael Robertson and his wife Candace and
kids, while they were visiting here from Colorado.
My sister, Janice, thought they would drive back again
sometime this fall to see a BYU game.

...as the sun sets--

We pray you have had a restful and peaceful Sabbath Day.

As this first Sunday in September comes to an end

we share our testimony...

Heavenly Father lives and loves each one of us.  He and our

Heavenly Mother know each one of us by name. They want

us--their spirit children--to return to Them.

Jesus Christ, as the First Born Spirit Son, is the only Begotten

Son and came to earth to live a perfect life and is our Savior

because of His Atonement for us.

He is the Redeemer of all.

Joseph Smith is the Restorer of all truth, as revealed to him by
Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
He is the Prophet of the Restoration.

The Bible is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Christ.

Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet for the entire earth today.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true Church on the earth today, restored in 1830 under the direction of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ is the Head of this Church.

Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
