Today we walked at our CSI walking class,
then at noon we had Institute:

At 1:30 I went to the Library Book Club,
which meets the second Thurday of each month
Sept-Nov, then Jan-May.
Katherine Hall gave the book discussion on
Everyone attending--except me, had read the book.
Kathleen Hedberg said she so enjoyed it because it is
so typical of her Swedish ancestors that she knows.
She has visited them in Sweden on her many trips there
as she has done much research into her family genealogy.

I forgot to get a group photo until just
Kathryn Hall and Loanda Manning below
were the only ones left in the library as I was leaving.
The others attending today were:
Marie Lambert, Kathleen Hedberg, Nola Holyoak, Sinda. Jean Hamblen, and me.

 This afternoon we taught
Travis and Jaymie Chandler their
final Temple Preparation Lesson.

T
hey have been very enthusiastic and eager to learn.
We love them and have enjoyed having them
come into our home for these six lessons.

Friday - October 13, 2017

Today I didn't take any photos.
We did two hours of family history with
Kathleen Hedberg.
She is an expert in Swedish genealogy and
has helped Walt found many family members
of his Grandmother Nellie Katie Olson.

Then I got my hair cut at 12:30 by Jenny McGill.
LaRae Crane and I went visiting teaching at 2:00
We enjoy visiting with our four sisters:
Debbie Harrell, Karen Taylor,
Cindy Young, and Teresa Miller.
It was my turn for the lesson and taking treats.
I took apples and some peanut M&M's.
The lesson was a little different this month.

Enfolding with Love Those Who Stray

“The reality is that there are no perfect families . . .”
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said,
“Whatever problems your family is facing,
whatever you must do to solve them,
the beginning and the end of the solution is
C H A R I T Y,
THE PURE LOVE OF CHRIST.”

Elder Brent H. Nielson of the Seventy
(who grew up in Burley, Idaho) said:
“…When the lost one is your son
or your daughter,
your brother or your sister, . . .
after all we can do,
we love that person with all of our hearts…”
--April General Conference - 2015

We love you.
Love, Your Visiting Teachers
LaRae and Eileen
We are always here for you.
 When I got home,
Walt and I went to Smith's to pick up some prescriptions and did a little grocery shopping.  On our way home we stopped at D. and Karen's home to get some apples.  They have a lot on there tree and are asking for friends to please come help get them off their tree.
We didn't get many but wanted to see if there having their apples stay on their tree almost two weeks longer than we did  helped their apples become sweeter.

In comparing, we felt that ours were a sweet as theirs.  We were relieved to know that we didn't pick ours too early.

Saturday - October 14, 2017

Today I didn't take any photos, either.
I got up early and made two apple pies.
We took one of the pies over to D. and Karen as a
"Thank you" for their letting us get some of their apples.
D. was gone home teaching with Dan Murray, but
Karen said he would be so delighted to have some apple pie!
She told us she had been craving apple pie,
and could hardly wait to warm a piece up to have
with a dollup of ice cream.
We had a fun visit with her before going back home.
Karen and D. have a darling, black miniature poodle
whose name is "Tucker."
They adore him and Karen says he brings
a great spark of livliness into their home.

We, too, enjoyed the apple pie for dessert with
our Sunday roast beef dinner.
(We've had three Sunday dinners now from
havng cooked two roasts when Gary and Steve
were here in September for a couple of days
when they came to the Burley football game.)

Sunday - October 15, 2017

And no photos today.

Sylvia Heiner did very well as our youth speaker today at Sacrament Meeting.
Stephanie Haines was asked to speak about "Self Worth." She quoted Elder Holland's talk from General Conference and said she felt from the Women's Session there was a theme running through the entire sessions about not being critical of ourselves. Satan wants us to feel worthless and hopeless. We all have sinned. We live in a fallen world.

Stephanie said a friend gave her the book Believing Christ by Stephen Robinson. We believe in Christ, but often we do not believe Him.  We need to make a partnership with Christ.

Like opening a checking account, when we are in a partnership with Christ He can make u "perfect" in Him 1 Corinthians 1:1

What stood out to me in the Conference talks was that we can't be perfect all the time but we need to always try.
Don't compare ourselves with others. He knows when we are doing our very best with a willingness to repent.

When I'm feeling imperfect I start picturing myself with a group of people waiting our turn in heaven to stand before the Savior.  I'm always nervous anyway. (I get nervous just to have to go into WalMart).  Imagine how nervous I will be when I'm waiting to be interviewed by the Savior.

I'll be thinking about all the things I've done wrong, wishing I had done more good things.

Then your name is called.  You step into the presence of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  There is such a feeling of love. You want to run to Heavenly Father but you hesitate because you feel inadequate.

Then you feel someone behind you who says:
"This one is with me. She is mine."

I pray we can accept this marvelous gift."

This had a powerful impact on me!

Emily Garrard played a piano solo - "You Can Make The Pathway Bright."  It added to the calm, spiritual feeling in the chapel.   I noticed that Emily's mom and dad--Sally and Keith Couch had come to hear her perform.

Gary McCall, the next speaker, shared that he is grateful to be in this ward.  " (to be continued)
