Today
We went to the Times News Political Forum for the
candidates for the Burley City Election...
Far right is Merlyn Smedley, the current Mayor of Burley
who is running for re-election.
On his left is Steven Ormond, running for mayor.
Left to right are Casey Anderson, incumbent city councilman.
Next right is Ralph Carlson, running for city council.
He grew up in Burley, was gone for 50 years,
returned to Burley following his retirement as an engineer
in the East, and wants to help the city.
On the far left is Jon Andersen, also a current city councilman.

Tuesday - October 17, 2017
Today after the CSI walking class at 11:00,
we go to an Adult Religion Class
at the Institute building.
This semester's class is: Jesus Christ and the
Everlasting Gospel.
Nancy Blauer is an excellent teacher.
We had not had lunch as "Edith's" all summer,
so we went there today for lunch.
They only serve hamburgers and fries.
We always split one because they are so big.
They're the closest to the old-fashioned
'burgers that we know of.
We agree with their logo: BBIT
"Best Burger in Town"
This afternoon Walt went to see Dr. Crane about
his right shoulder becoming more immobile.
Walt hurt it years ago skiing.
It is also giving him some pain.
Walt and Gilbert are good friends.
It's good to be outside on these warm fall days.
These Indian Summer days are great!
We wish this nice weather could last through October
and also November.
We know it is wishful thinking for Indian Summer
to last much longer...

Wednesday - October 18, 2017
We walked from 11:00-11:45,
then we got ready and left for Twin Falls in time
to go to Costco to get my hearing aids checked
and to get some of the items that were on sale.
We saw Bishop McMurray as we were
ready to check out.

Today was predicted to be
the last really nice Indian Summer day
before rain and colder weather...
 ...so we headed out...
 ...just out of town...
(getting a snapshot of the moving van on the corner)
 ...on our way...
 ...to the river...
 ...for a late afternoon
 ...picnic lunch...
 ...It was 76 degrees...
 ...The river was very peaceful...
Every 3rd Thursday is my
Serendipity Book Club gathering...

Julie and John's University of Utah flag explanation...
Friends and neighbors, no need to be alarmed. We have not been vandalized. My nephew Kimble swims for the U and he has instructed me I must put this out on his swim meet days. Good luck Kimble! #whatwedoforfamily #sacrifice
Today we...

Saturday - October 21 , 2017

 Greta Hansen's wonderful local
Violin Recital as she prepares
to perform for her BYU-Idaho Graduate
Recital in Rexburg.
 Ingrid Hansen Smallman accompanied
her sister on some of the Concertos.
 Delicious refreshments were served
following the performance.

Best friends and neighbors...Greta and Kara
David and Alice Hansen...
...the proud parents of Greta.
Rebecca Harris was there with her daughter April...

 Greta's Dad and Aunt...
And also some of her grandchildren
and their friends...
Then we watched the rest of the BYU game.
Sadly, East Carolina College beat them for
the Cougars 7th consecutive loss.
Go Cougars...
even tho in the 4th quarter
we knew it was a losing cause.
Ruth is always so kind to invite us to
come watch the games with her...
Walt can't figure out why the
BYU football team keeps losing this year.
It's always sad to see a player get injured.
Walt said the line isn't giving Mangum
time to get a good pass off.
At least we got a second touch down...
Ruth keeps telling the Cougars to:
"Take it up a notch!"
But they're not listening this year.
We will go on cheering for the Cougars...
It's a sad football season for BYU players,
coaches, and fans.

Lydon Crane is an insightful
Gospel Doctrine Teacher...
 We've been to Church from 10:40 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
It's always a blessing to partake of the Sacrament.
We love David and Alice Hansen.
It's a blessing to be their home teachers.
They took a photo of us.
It's always good to get a close up photo.
So we took a close up photo of David and Alice.
As we come to the close of this Sabbath Day,
we hope you have had a peaceful and restful Sunday.

The  Church is true.
Heavenly Fathers loves each one of us.
His Son, Jesus Christ, also loves each one of us.  He loves us so much that He gave His life for us so that we might be able to repent of the mistakes we make in life.  Because of His Atonement we will be resurrected.
We thank Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost for their love, guidance, and tender mercies for each one of us.

Walt and Eileen Petersen - Burley, Idaho
