Summer
June July August

Monday - July 24, 2017
Walt nearly passed out. We went in for bread and milk and came out with just bread and milk.  I think that's a first.

Tuesday - July 25, 2017
Always good to be "back" from the dentist instead of just "going" to the dentist.  One cavity this year isn't so bad, however.
We enjoy going home teaching to Brother Black.
We love Dan. And in addition to the monthly message from
a member of the First Presidency, Walt and Dan may swap a few
old pilot experiences!

Wednesday - July 26, 2017
We  just did initiatory at the temple because our appointment time was different than they told us on the phone for our dermatologist/Mohs specialist.
We always miss Dale and Connie when they are gone.
They have been on a Church History tour July 19-27 with two of Connie's brothers and a sister.
Then we had a quick lunch at Wendy's
(who could resist the 50 cent special on Frostee's?)
 before going to our
1:40 appointment with Dr. Kurtis Reed.
They had told me 10:40 a.m. when I called a month ago.

We schedule our derm appointments on Wednesdays so we can do it all in one drive over on the day we go to the temple.

Thursday - July 27, 2017
This morning Walt had his 9-week foot check by Dr. Wettstein. Good thing because he had some bleeding between two toes from cracks and the diagnosis was a little bit of Athlete's Foot starting. So now Walt has a cream for that and a spray to disinfect his shoes.
He could have purchased the "Shoe Zap" Ultra Violet light for $100 but is trying the spray first.
So he goes back in 3 weeks instead of the 9 weeks.
We really like this foot specialist who comes to Burley once a week
from Twin Falls.
It's nice that several specialists come to Burley from Twin so we don't have to make so many trips over.

We went to the first Solar Eclipse meeting that our Burley Library is having in preparation for watching the August 21st Eclipse.  They gave out free certified solar eclipse glasses after the 20-minute presentation.
Eclipse - Being called "The greatest event of this Century."

Friday - July 2, 2017
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat"
has been playing at the famous Howell's Opera House
in Oakley put on by the Oakley Valley Arts Council.

Joseph was well cast and a wonderful singer.
Pharaoh also did a great job.

Glen's wife Carol passed away two and a half years ago.  Marie has been a widow for 43 years.
Her husband, Jim Hanzel, was killed in a
glider accident 8 years after we had moved
to Burley in 1966.

Two of our Burley friends were married on Saturday.
This Cornish Event Center is one of the buildings
on the old "Teacher's College," originally called
The Normal School in Albion, which
later was called the
South Idaho College of Education.
This basement room was beautifully decorated.
One of Marie's granddaughters played the harp.

The aisle wasn't wide enough for them to
walk side by side.
This photo is better of Glen...
This one is better of Marie smiling.
This is Matt Hanzel, Marie's son.
Matt lives in Saratoga Springs.
Steve told us he is on the high council
in their stake.
We always enjoy seeing Bob and Nancy Ward.
They were long-time patients of Walt's.

They served a delicious light supper featuring
featuring chicken salad in croissants.
Wayne Beck came by to tell us "hello."
They live near us on that lane where George and
Wendy Granata used to live.  We see them taking walks
most every day.
The Wards keep asking us to come out to see
them in Elba and we can all go eat
at the Out Post.
This was the entry way to the room.
Now I see the guest book, which we didn't see
when we entered.
This shows guests coming up
out of the entrance.

This shows part of the Cornish Event Center
behind me.
From the wedding and reception, we drove
over to the Magic Valley Folk Festival performance
at the King Fine Arts Center in Burley.
Below are some of the dancers from the
Belarus: Ensemble Zorachka.
These were the Ecuador: Cuniburo Cultural dancers.
I think were also dancers from Ecuador.
I didn't think to take photos until most of the
other countries had performed.
The other 5 featured teams were:
Austria: Schuhplattlergruppe Zwischenwasser
Chile: Kirqui Wayra
Indonesia: Nona Asri Indonesia
Switzerland: Ensemble Folklorique la
Chanson de la Montagne deNendaz, and
U.S.A.: Idaho Rocky Mountain Express.
Krista Gammon is the Chairperson, but many, many
local Burley people (and I think some from Rupert)
are involved in making this happen.
There were over 200 in this finale.

We pray  you have had a peaceful and restful Sabbath Day.
We share our testimony of the Gospel...

Heavenly Father lives and knows each one of us, and loves us.
Heavenly Mother also lives and loves us. Heavenly Father doesn't want a lot said about Her so that Her Name will not be taken in vain as His Name often is.

Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God, the Father, who also lives and loves each one of us.  He also knows each one of us by name.  At His Second Coming in Glory, "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is the Redeemer and Savior of the World."

Joseph Smith is the Prophet of the Restoration and was foreordained to restore all truths to the earth for the Last Dispensation, in which we are living now.

The Bible is the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly and is the Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
The Book of Mormon is true and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

President Thomas S. Monson is the living Prophet on the earth now.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and has the keys for  priesthood ordinances needed for Exaltation.

These truths we share in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
