"Every society will be judged byhow it treats the least fortunate.""Time moves slowly, but passes quickly...
On this blog I share with family and friends my thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.*All that I am or ever hope to be,I not only owe to my
Walt called himself...
"The last of the old-time country doctors."
Walt called himself...
"The last of the old-time country doctors."
He delivered about 4,000 babies, among fixing broken hips, other surgeries, and even made house calls. As Janie said in his obituary:"He healed many hearts, heads, hands, and everything in-between."
In the 1950s you had to be 20 to serve a mission. This is Walt in August 1954, on the day he was set apart in Salt Lake City to be a missionary.
One of Walt's happiest of happy places-- second only to being with me and our children--was as a pilot flying...
Our first plane was a piper Cherokee...Then in a six-seater Cessna high-wing, turbo-charged airplane. 4824 Foxtrot was the call number. {He owned the plane with two partners). We were blessed to serve 4 missions together--FIRST MISSIONJuly 1995-July 1998 3 YEARS

based on a true story
of a Mormon teenager
in Germany during
World War II.
So sobering
and heart-breaking.
Steve is very thoughtful ofme--he takes me to dinnerand a movie several times amonth, and also drives meto various family events.
Gary is also very thoughtful of me, driving me to medical appointments, coming weeklyfor our "old movie's night,"plus driving me to Idahoseveral times a year fordecorating graves, goingto my high school classreunions, and familyand friend's funerals.
They both help drive meto Rexburg and backfor Thanksgiving,Christmas, andfamily reunions--WEPR.
Plus Steve has furnishedmany delicious Sundaydinners for nieces and nephews--PUNN--and always includes me.
David drives us to Maddox for our semi-annual dinners, and hosts the cousins'Christmas dinner and party, plus taking me to dinneror having me come to dinner.
Janie does a lot for me always. She recently took me on a three-day rode trip toLas Vegas--furnishingtickets to the Sphere,Mob Museum, andDonny Osmond. She hosts me forThanksgiving and Christmas, plus she drives many hours to join family gatherings.
Brian comes to Utahas often as he can.
Jen takes me todinner when she comesto Utah.
Also their spouses are very supportive.
Julie & John do the mostby having me live with them.I can never thank themenough for all they have done for me during theseseven years--the two with Walt, and now 5 years asa widow. I would not have donewell living alone.
Our grandchildren arealso very kind and thoughtfulwhen we have a chance tobe with me.
Aimee & Michael wereso fun to be with inLas Vegas in Oct.
I know Walt is happy andproud of you all forwatching out forhis 86-year-oldeternal sweetheart.

Day of the Dead
Day of the Dead
I honor my Eternal Sweetheart--Walt
Petersen-- on this "Day of the Dead"
Nov. 1, 2025.
We lived in Latin American
countries for
9 ½ years during our 4 missions
together,
intermittently starting in 1995,
ending in
2014. And Walt was an additional 2
½ years
on his mission as a young man in
the Uruguay-Paraguay Mission 1954-1957.
That’s where we learned about…
Day of the Dead [Info from
Wikipedia]
“The Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día
de (los) Muertos) is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2,…
The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pay respects and
remember friends and family members who have died. These celebrations can take
a humorous tone, as celebrants remember amusing events and anecdotes about the
departed. It is widely observed in Mexico, where it largely developed, and is
also observed in other places, especially by people of Mexican heritage…”

The
Salt Lake Tabernacle just turned 150 years old!
In
1867, the Salt Lake Tabernacle was completed, becoming home to general
conference and community gatherings for early Saints. It was later dedicated by
President John Taylor on October 9, 1875, “for the purposes of praise,
thanksgiving and worship of the Most High God.”
Bridge-builder
Henry Grow modeled the roof on lattice-trusses used in bridges in the East.
This helped support the elliptical shape and avoided interior support columns.
Materials like nails were scarce, so Grow had the dome finished with plaster
made from ground limestone and animal hair, with glue created from boiled
hides! Architect Frank Lloyd Wright later called it “one of the architectural
masterpieces of the country and perhaps the world."
In
1870, Truman O. Angell, architect of the Salt Lake Temple, added balconies that
reduced echoes—so well that you can hear a pin drop from 170 feet away!—making
it easier to hear speakers in the days before electric amplification.
Today,
the Tabernacle and its 11,623-pipe organ remain home to a variety of concerts
as well as Music & the Spoken Word.

Family is Everything…
Sunday
Saratoga Springs 3RD WARD
This afternoon...
** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of Jesus Christ that makes this
Great Plan operational.
At the end of this November 2nd, 2025I pray you have had a restful, peaceful, and spiritual Sabbath Day...
I share these truths as my testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence. He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
“An omnicompetent God leaves all mortals free to choose, but how grateful we should be that God chose long, long ago to rescue and to resurrect all His children through the Atonement of His Son. Nevertheless, some reject and many are indifferent to these and other divine beckonings, mostly because they are too caught up in the cares of the world. They are strangers to the Savior, who is far from the thoughts and intents of their hearts.”Neal A Maxwell
How Choice a Seer!
*** *** ***I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead. Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."
*** *** *** *** ***Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration. He is the Restorer of all things.
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.*** *** ***The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.*** *** ***Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
I pray you have had a restful, peaceful, and spiritual Sabbath Day...
I share these truths as my testimony to you...
