"Time moves slowly, but passes quickly...

TIME...
On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

*All that I am or ever hope to be,
I not only owe to my

angel mother and father,
...but my wonderful husband,
Walter Ray Petersen.

Walt called himself...

"The last of the old-time country doctors."

He delivered about 4,000 babies, among fixing broken hips, other surgeries, and even made house calls. As Janie said in his obituary:"He healed many hearts, heads, hands, and everything in-between."

In the 1950s you had to be 20 to serve a mission. This is Walt in August 1954, on the day he was set apart in Salt Lake City
to be a missionary.

One of Walt's happiest of happy places was as the pilot flying...
Our first plane was a piper Cherokee...
Then in a six-seater Cessna high-wing, turbo-charged airplane. Foxtrot 48--something was the call number  {he owned with two partners).

We were blessed to serve 4 missions together--First:July 1995-July 1998

Tragedy in Mini-Cassia counties

happened on Tuesday, July 8:

From the face book post of a Burley resident:

"No one is immune to feeling the effects of the tragedies in our community. Everyone here either knew them, lived in close proximity, saw the man who killed, knew him…

It’s rattled us to our core. Whether or not we want to believe this could happen here, the fact is, now in an alarming horror, it has. Everyone wants to know the gruesome details. In a world of instant gratification, there are things, especially in the justice system, that cannot be shared to protect victim and the man in custody’s rights. Whether or not you agree doesn’t change that.

As the loving and supportive community I know us to be, the best thing we can do is lift up these families, pray over them, stand with them, and take the necessary precautions to keep our families safe."

*** *** ***

From the face book post of another Burley resident:

"Long gone are the days where you could leave your doors unlocked and trust everyone. Too many opportunists are out there looking for selfish gain.

I feel so deeply for the victims, Kelly and Donna Jenks, Angelica Medina, and the other unknown name and their families. I can’t imagine the horror they experienced before they were murdered. I also feel for the family of the man in custody. They have to live out this horror every day now too.

No one can excuse the man’s actions. If he’s dealing with schizophrenia like has been reported, that’s a whole level of hell in someone’s mind that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. For every action, there are consequences. He will have his days in court with a judge. Will it be enough justice for the families? Although when it comes to justice, is there really anything that will ever make it right?

This is a call to action for our community. The lack of mental health resources is glaringly obvious. Let’s band together and get a facility here that can do more for our community: people living under anxiety with crippling fear that need a place to turn to, people with schizophrenia, people with severe depression, people who need educated on how to help others in a mental crisis….

This is a call to be a light Mini-Cassia. Share love and light and not live in fear. I refuse to allow fear to control our community. Let us step forward together. 🧡🙏🏻We are Mini-Cassia strong."

A Burley man is in jail

accused of killing four people

Ben Naylor, a 56-year-old resident of Burley, is currently in police custody following his arrest for the alleged murder of four individuals across two counties in the Mini-Cassia area on Tuesday, July 8.

Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into these tragic events, and neighbors are shaken by the tragedy.

Rigdon did a great job.

Didn't take any paper with him...

said it perfectly and clearly

and we all could understand it.

I was so intent on listening to him,

I didn't get a photo.

Bishop Cheney shared their experience of being

he took 7 y-o Eva to the English school, he felt it

was chaos with all the students  trying to line

Eva ran into the crowd of kids with her arms

outstreatched to become a part of it all.

RS LESSON 2025 JUL 13 –

MISSY BALLANTYNE  TAUGHT:

Elder D. Todd Christofferson: ‘Worship’

‘How we live may be the best, most genuine form of worship’

5 April 2025, 7:21 p.m. MDT

Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles speaks during the Saturday evening session of the 195th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City on April 5, 2025. Cristy Powell, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the

Twelve Apostles spoke during the Saturday

evening session of April 2025 general

conference about worshipping. The following is a

 summary of what he said.

Elder Christofferson’s talk summary

Four concepts regarding worship:

First, the actions that constitute one’s worship: Most important is what is done in gathering on the Lord’s day. “Worshipping together, as the ‘body of Christ,’ has unique power and benefits as we teach, serve and sustain one another.”

Second, the attitudes and feelings inherent in worship: “Feeling and expressing gratitude to God is, in fact, what infuses worship with a sense of joyful renewal as opposed to seeing it as just one more duty.”

Third, the exclusivity of worship: “Whatever takes precedence over worship of the Father and the Son becomes an idol. Those who reject God as the source of truth, or disavow any accountability to Him, in effect substitute themselves as their god.”

Finally, the need to emulate the Father and the Son: “How we live may be the best, most genuine form of worship. Showing our devotion means emulating the Father and the Son — cultivating Their attributes and character in ourselves. …

“May we receive the Holy Spirit and yield our hearts to God, have no other gods before Him and as disciples of Jesus Christ emulate His character in our own lives. I testify that as we do, we will experience joy in worship.”

See the full text of Elder Christofferson’s talk: ‘Worship’

Notable quotes

“True worship means loving God and yielding our will to Him — the most precious gift we can offer.”

“Worshipping together, as the ‘body of Christ’ has unique power and benefits as we teach, serve and sustain one another. … As a community of Saints, we strengthen each other in worship and in faith.”

“Those who reject God as the source of truth, or disavow any accountability to Him, in effect substitute themselves as their god. One who places loyalty to a party or cause ahead of divine direction worships a false god.”

MISSY PASSED THIS BASKET OF SWEET TREATS

 FOR EACH SISTER.

RELIEF SOCIETY
Sister Ballantyne had each sister write a word on each of four sticks for how we identified with each of Elder Christofferson's four concepts of worship:

1. Action

2. Attitude

3. Exclustivity

4. Emulate

RELIEF SOCIETY

She showed how strong the four

together are, and cannot be broken...

Then she showed that if we just have one, it can

 easily be broken in half.

That was a powerful visual aid for me!

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this

 Great Plan operational.

At the end of this
July 13th,

I pray you have had a                           restful, peaceful, and spiritual     Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as                                my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.

*** *** ***

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.

“An omnicompetent God leaves all mortals free to choose, but how grateful we should be that God chose long, long ago to rescue and to resurrect all His children through the Atonement of His Son. Nevertheless, some reject and many are indifferent to these and other divine beckonings, mostly because they are too caught up in the cares of the world. They are strangers to the Savior, who is far from the thoughts and intents of their hearts.”
