Traces of Time . . . Week of August 15-21, 2022

 Traces of Time . . .             {Last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.}

On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and posterity to come.

We don't get to be with
Jen very often.

Theme for movies for
rest of August:

   Our Wednesday night movie was:

"The Bachelor and the

Bobby-Soxer" from 1947.

This was Shirley Temple's 38th movie of 45.
She was age 19. She started making movies
at age 4. In addition to her 45 regular movies,
she made 18 short films.

Since Gary is driving me

to Idaho Friday, he stayed

home to get more work done.

We both thought it was a fun movie.

I'm thankful to my son, Gary, who drove me

from Saratoga Springs, Utah,  to this

Wendell High School Class of 1957-

65-year reunion in I D A H O.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 20, 2022

                    Family is Everything…

Today our 65-year

Wendell High School

Class of 1957 Reunion

continued with a potluck

picnic at the

Wendell Idaho City Park

at 12:00 noon.

A sincere thank you to the

committee who planned

the class reunion:

Beverly Brownlee Mason, Chairman

Norman Keesler,

Reva Peterson Martinson in photo.

Beverly Barrus who could not come.

These are twelve of the

thirteen who could

come to the picnic:

L-R front row - Merolyn, Beverly,

Dale P., Doug, Roger.

Next row: Norman, Gaylene, Eileen,

Reva, Arla, MaryAnn, Dale M.

The gal behind Roger is his

wife, Deanne.

Lucile had been there, but had

gone home before the photo.

Jim had been able to

come to the dinner the

night before, but wasn't

up to coming to the picnic.

None of us took a photo when the

picnic was spread out. This table

was so full, the hot items were

put on a separate table, as well

as the desserts.

Thanks, everyone for your

varied and delicious potluck items...

Winco fried chicken and rolls, Costco

meatballs and taco wraps,

Besides the hot meat balls. Reva

brought hot sliced ham.

There was also Simerly's

fruits and tossed salad 'n dressings,

Merolyn had crackers 'n cheese 'n salami,

Gaylene made a yummy orange fluff

salad, and Bev made a yummy

chicken oriental salad.

Arla brought home-grown

tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions

in vinegar.

Plus someone made the most delicious

rice krispy treats I've ever tasted,

plus cookies from Costco, and

some macaroons.

We had a lot more choices than

if the picnic had been catered.

We thank the city of Wendell

for the maticulous upkeep

of the wonderful City Park.

From there we went to the

Cemetery to put flowers

on Walt's grave.

Our headstone was just

installed this past March.

Our oldest granddaughter,

Aimee, designed it.

Bev came out, along with

Dale and his son, Nate, and

Roger & Deanne.

Entwined in the ivy scroll

on the back are ten things

that were important to

us in this life:

Counter clock-wise

from top right are:

1. A small plane --

Walt was a great pilot.

2. A typewriter

3. A stethoscope

4. An apple pie - our kids

maintain that my apple pie

is the best of any.

5. The Salt Lake Temple

6. A palm tree -- we

served 4 missions together

in countries with palm trees.

7. A camera

8. Skis

9. A basketball

10. The scriptures

Hope you can see better

on this enlarged view.

On our way out of Wendell

we took a photo of Simerly's.

We were very impressed

with this amazing home-town

store and all it has!

We were going to

spend some time at

the Cassia County Fair

in Burley on the way home.

However, I didn't have the

energy to do it.

I always ask for a moment

of silence when we go by

the old barn at mileage

marker 36 before

Tremonton.

It is exactly 100 miles

from Burley. Each year

I think it will have

fallen completely down.

But it's always there.

Thanks, Gary, for driving

me to and from this

special event in my life.

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this

 Great Plan operational.
At the end of this August 21st,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.

I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."
Daily Scripture: And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost. - 3 Nephi 12:6
Daily Quote: We have been promised the constant companionship of the third member of the Godhead and hence the privilege of receiving revelation for our own lives. - Sheri L. Dew

Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***

The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
Daily Scripture: This life became a probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God; a time to prepare for that endless state which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead. - Alma 12:24
Daily Quote: I invite you to diligently learn about and appreciate the eternal importance of temple covenants, temple ordinances, and temple worship as you strive to come unto the Savior. - David A. Bednar

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.  Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
