On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 on the way, and posterity to come.

MONDAY, AUGUST 1, 2022 Family is Everything ...
I always thought the
Dog Days of Summer
were Aug 1-31.
No...they start JULY 3...
Dog days Date: Sun, Jul 3, 2022 –Thu, Aug 11, 2022. The dog days of summer are the hot, sultry days of summer. They were historically the period following the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius, which Hellenistic astrology connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad dogs, and bad luck. Family is Everything…

For Christmas 2021,
Linda Hartley's
six children gave her a trip
to England then on
a Rhine River Cruise
July 17 - August 3, 2022

Linda is on a Rhine River Cruise
with two of her daughters
Julie and Christie

Ladies' Lunch was at
The Village Baker in Lehi
at 33 Digital Drive

9 came...including...
LeAnn, Sue, Eileen.
We're delighted to
welcome LeAnn back
after her "medical leave"
of several months...
Carol, MaryAnn...
Kaye, Jeanie...
Linda got back from her
'England-Europe trip
at midnight and we thought
she would be too tired
to come today.
So we were all pleasantly
surprised when she
walked in!

She said her trip
was fabulous!
Hope we can all
hear more about it soon.

She brought European
chocolates to share.
Thank you so much...
so thoughtful and kind!
And we're always happy
when Jennie gets to come.
Linda, LeAnn, Carol, Jeanie.

Even though it was very noisy,
we got to talk together about
a lot of things...from world
news to why they're putting
Pony Express through to the
little, winding two-lane back
road out of our part of
Saratoga Springs, to
health issues, to family
reunions and beyond...
Our time together each
Wednesday goes by so quickly.

LeAnn, MaryAnn, Kaye, Carol.

Carol leaves Sunday for Madrid,
then goes from there on a
Mediterranean Cruise with
two of her brothers.
She gets back August 25 or 28.
Have a great time, Carol.
We will miss you!
A cute young mother came
running over to say she'd
take a photo of us all together.
When we thanked her she
said she always appreciates
it when someone does
that for her.

Our Wednesday night movie was:

East of Eden

from 1955.

Gary and I agreed

that none of the actors in this movie
were what we envisioned from the book
our family had for July. Janie's choice
--25 hours on audio.
John Steinbeck called this the favorite
of all the books he wrote.
He is a brilliant author!

the narrative of Walt's Missionary Journal
I am typing from his hand written record.

I also looked up a word I didn't know
the meaning to from Alma 47:36 that
I didn't understand:
"impenitent."

when Mom came home from her

England London South Mission

in May or June 1991.

Since David is in a suit, we

wonder if it could be he

coming home from his

California Ventura

Spanish-speaking Mission

in May 1991.

I'm sending it to my family
to see if any of them
can identify it.
