Family is Everything…
A sunny day to start the second full
week of January 2022.
The tree is about to be taken out.
Now you see it...then it was back in the
storage shed until next holiday season.
...now you don't
need the photo
Thanks Julie and Riggy for undecorating it.
Thanks, John and Jackson for carrying it out
to the storage shed in the back yard.
Thanks, John, for bringing back
Grama A's Lazy Boy rocker.

Family is Everything and so are Friends...
 Institute was
The Parable of the
Unmerciful Servant.
Matthew 18: 21-
In Institute we are currently
learning about the Parables of Christ.

Today was on the
Parable of the Unmerciful Servant
Camie, as always, did a great job
of teaching us.
How have we needed to forgive someone.
Why should we forgive?
The Savior's Atonement is also for
those who need to forgive.
Camie gave each one a slip of paper
to take home and write the name
of someone we need to forgive.
Institute is not just for
learning but also
applying what we learn.
Roberta took a selfie of her,
    Heather and me.
I thing there were 16 or 17 in class today.
It was a chilly day. Maddie
brought in the trash cans.

A photo from the past:
This is from familysearch.org...
Huffaker Family Thanksgiving
in November 1970 in
Boise at Earl and Eleanor's home.
Clockwise from lower left:
I don't know who this young girl
is. It looks like Heather to me,
but I don't see Don and Marcele
in the photo.
Then my Dad, Arnold, and Mom, Verna,
 would have been by him,
but can only see her hair.
Next is Grama Huffaker, Ella.
At the head of the table is
Grampa Huffaker, Dave.
Standing is Earl,
then Morris, with Hazel but can
only see a part of her.
Ray, then Lorraine.
Eleanor is probably taking
the photo.
Now all them have graduated to
heaven, except the young girl
and my Aunt Eleanor.
I hope I cherished all my family
as much as I should have when
they were all with us.
Walt and I would have been in
Wendell that Thanksgiving with
Walt's Mom, Jane, and
his siblings, and their children,
and our four children: Janie, Gary.
Steve, and David.  It would have been
the first Thanksgiving without Walt's
Dad, Grampa Ray who had graduated
to heaven Feb 17, 1970 of a heart
attack at age 62.
After 80, every year without a headstone is a milestone!                                                                        — Sophia (Estelle Getty)

Family is Everything…
Lunch Bunch was at R&R BBQ today
at Traverse Mountain Outlets
9 could come today:
Clockwise from left: Jennie, Sharon,
Sandi, Linda H, Tammy, LeAnn,
Carol, Kathie, Sue.
Thanks for having someone take a
photo, Kathie. I didn't go because
I was exposed to Covid.
I sure missed being there.
I started coughing and coughing
that morning, had a slight runny
nose, and thought my throat felt
a little scratchy. But after an hour,
no more coughing, no runny nose,
no scratch throat. Guess it's
"better safe than sorry!"
We always miss those who can't come.

For our Wednesday night movie...
My son Gary and I chose:
"All The President's Men
" a movie from 1976

Info from Wikipedia: Budget to make film $  8.5 million                                                                          Box Office: $70.6 million

"All the President's Men is a 1976 American biographical political drama-thriller film about the Watergate scandal that brought down the presidency of Richard Nixon. ...it is based on the 1974 non-fiction book of the same name by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, the two journalists investigating the Watergate scandal for The Washington Post.

The film stars Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as Woodward and Bernstein, respectively...

The film was nominated in multiple OscarGolden Globe and BAFTA categories, and in 2010 was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

The movie's ending:
"On
January 20, 1973, Bernstein and Woodward type the full story, while a television in the foreground shows Nixon taking the oath of office for his second term as president. A montage of Watergate-related teletype headlines from the following years is shown that ends with the report of Nixon's resignation and the inauguration of                       Gerald Ford on August 9, 1974."

"...Afterwards, he [President Nixon] was issued a pardon by his successor, Gerald Ford. In 20 years of retirement, Nixon wrote his memoirs and nine other books and undertook many foreign trips, rehabilitating his image into that of an elder statesman and leading expert on foreign affairs. He suffered a debilitating stroke on April 18, 1994, and died four days later at age 81. Surveys of historians and political scientists have ranked Nixon as a below-average president.[2][3][4] Evaluations of him have proven complex, as the successes of his presidency have been contrasted with the circumstances of his departure from office."

in San Salvador El Salvador

Family is Everything…
 Maddie worked on this puzzle
for several days...but not
very long each day. She's
fast at putting puzzles together!
Today is sunny again but cold...
36 degrees at 3:00 in the afternoon.
I'm working on my talk for Church tomorrow. I've been assigned to talk on
Elder Ronald A. Rasband's General
Conference talk from Oct. 2021
"The Things of My Soul."
It is a marvelous talk!
I hope I can do it justice.

Family is Everything…
Today I spoke in Church. John had asked
me last Tuesday evening when one of
the speakers he had lined up
had gotten Covid.
The bishopric chose the talk by
Elder Ronald A. Rasband entitled
"The Things of My Soul" that
he gave at General Conference
in October 2021.
He gave these seven:

I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.

At the end of this January 16th,
I pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.

Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
