Family is Everything…
Today is a red-letter day!
Aimee, our granddaughter, has finished
designing our headstone.
It is perfect for Walt and me.
She has sent the final draft to Tim Harris
at Memorial Monuments in Burley. After
he gets the design ready, it takes
about 6 weeks to have it finished
and installed.
Here's the front...
If you click on the photo, it can be
enlarged to show up better.
How many of our favorites things
can you find in the border?
Also, click on the photo to make
it get bigger and easier to see.
We knew with Aimee designing it that it would be great.
However, this is beyond my fondest
dreams or expectations!
Walt's grave is at the Wendell Idaho Cemetery...
Here we are on Memorial Day weekend 2019.
His parents, Ray and Jane Petersen, graves are here.
His maternal grandparents, Byrum and Maria Prescott graves are here.
Her name is pronounced (Mariah, also called "Rie".)
Oh...I need a better photo of this.
His paternal grandparents,Andrew and Nellie Katie Petersen's graves are here. (I can't find a photo of their headstone.)
Here is their wedding photo in 1904.
{Added on Thu, Sep 30...Our wonderful cousin,
Loreen Petersen Fox, Uncle Stan's
daughter sent me a photo of
Andrew and Nellie Katie's headstones.
What a sweetheart! Thanks for your
thoughtfulness, Lorene!!}
Stan is Grampa Ray's brother.
Thanks again, Loreen. She said it was raining when she took these photos and apologized for the
grass on the "M" of "Mother" on
Nellie Katie's headstone.
I think that Loreen had told me earlier that
Nellie Katie went by "Katie."
So tender that we have a darling
granddaughter "Katie." In fact,
she is "Katie Eileen.
His sister, Bonnie's grave, is there.
Here's a favorite photo of Bonnie
and Phyllis that Dale Bunn gave us for
Christmas 2016 or 2017:
Phyllis on left age 33 in 1965; Bonnie age 35.
Here's headstone of Bonnie...she died at age 60 of colon cancer.
His sister, Phyllis's grave, is there. Along with her husband, Dale Bunn.
Phyllis was age 82, died of dementia.
Dale was 91 when he died April 17, 2020.
Walt's Uncle Dean's grave is there. Guess I don't have a photo of his headstone.
Here's a photo of Walt with Uncle Dean
before Uncle Dean passed away in Feb 2005.
(from memory--I need to look up date)
Yes, it was 24 Feb 2005, age 89.
...and other family graves in Wendell are: Grampa Laurence Hashman
Aunt Betty Prescott, her Dad and Mom Hutson,
Dean and Betty's baby ...think his name is Bobby
Yes...Bobby Dean 30 Mar 1939-22May 1939
Grama Jane told me he had a crib death, and
what a sad, sad day it was for them all.
He would have been just under
two months old.
Grama Mary Carlson Petersen
Ray's sister Lucile Petersen
Walt's nephew Matthew and Brenda Bunn's
baby boy, Tyler
plus my maternal grandparents,

Family is Everything…
Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward block 10:30-12:30
Speakers at Sacrament Meeting today.
Ethan Oramas and Eric Luedtke, spoke
about missionary work.
"...HOW GREAT SHALL BE OUR JOY IF
WE BRING ONE SOUL INTO THE
KINGDOM OF GOD"
I hope my family and friends know that I
love the Gospel, the Restored Church and
hope I can share that love but not be
offensive about it. I don't want any of my
family and friends in heaven to say to me:
"Eileen, why didn't you tell us how you felt?"

A special speaker was invited to speak to the
youth and adults during the second hour today:
Ben Schilaty wrote A Walk in My Shoes
about concerns of the LGBTQ ximmunity.
Bishop Cheney had gathered questions from
ward members, and after Ben shared his
story about his parents joining the Church
a year after they were married, he told
about his Mother's bravery in his being
born after she was told that she could
--and probably would--
lose her life having this fourth child,
and that the child had a slight chance
of living, and if the child did live it would
be severley handicapped.
She heard a voice say "His name will be
"Benjamin James Schilaty...
Benjamin James Schilaty"
His mother had
his Dad promise that if she died, he would
push this child in a wheel chair for always.
She lived and the doctor said at his birth:
"What a beautiful, perfect baby!"
Julie and John cooked dinner for him
and his guest, Joey Sheppard.
20 at dinner...Bishop & Sister Cheney,
his 1st counselor and wife, Bro. and Sis. South,
his 2nd counselor, Bro. and Sis. Peterson, me,
and 11 kids: Mo, Eva, Gwynn, Watson, Clover,
Anya, Adele, Jacee, Jackson, Maddie, Rigdon.

Final preparations...
Ben, and Joey, guests for dinner...
Bishop Cheney and his son, Morris "Mo," helping make the salad.
Mo leaves Nov 29 for his Bulgaria Eurasia Mission
--will be mostly in Turkey--speaking Persian.
The roast beef dinner, mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies, salad were delicious, but the biggest
hit was the fresh-baked monkey bread.

and kids at the island counter...

Ben and Joey had to leave to drive to Logan for a speaking assignment.
Here's the group photo just before they left.
Our Bishopric after being called May 2, 2021. They've been serving for almost 5 months!
Thank you for all you do!~!

Roger Cheney, Bishop
David South, 1st Counselor.
