Ladies' Lunch was at Jim's today
Great old-fashioned cookin'.
Judy came in the same time that her construction person
did. He invited her to have lunch with him and  his daughter.
She came and greeted us before when went back to their table.
These are the other nine who could come today:
Clockwise: Linda B, Kathie, Shauna, Vickie, Tammy,
Sharon, Kaye, Eileen, and Carol.
Tammy and Sharon couldn't be seen very well in
the group photo, I took a separate photo of them.
I should have also taken a separate photo of
the gals on the other side, too.
Since the chef salads 'n scones are so big, several
of the gals shared. They were glad they did.
Photos show up better outside.
L-R: Linda B, Kaye, Eileen, Tammy, Kathie, Tammy.
The rest finished paying and came out.
Kathie, Linda B, Kaye, Tammy, Sharon, Carol, Vickie.
Kathie took one with me in it: Eileen, Linda, Kaye
Tammy, Sharon, Carol, Vickie.
We always miss those who are not able to come!~

Julie and Jacee help Riggy with some homework
before they have to leave for the airport.
Jacee got some Mac 'n Cheese for a hurried lunch.
Mother and college daughter ready for an adventure.
Julie's ready to go...but goes back to get her pillow.
Jacee's getting in to go...just as a convertible pulls up...
                                                They run toward each other...
Nick got here just in the nick of time to
tell Jacee goodbye before flying to
Florida for the National Ballroom Couples Competitions.
Jackson's last day to be 16.
Brothers: Riggy turned 7 on Sept 4 and Jackson
is still 16. Tomorrow Jackson will be 17, so he'll be
                                    ten years older again.
Max always gets sad when Julie leaves.
We can't explain to him that she will be back in 4 days.

Happy Birthday, Jackson. "17" today!~
Sunrise 7:03 this morning.
First thing Riggy does when he gets home
from school...takes off his shoes.
He's liking first grade and is reading
                                                    most everything he sees!
Happy Birthday, Jackson. "17" today!~
Ready to blow out candles...
Got 'em!
Yummy ice cream cake!
John cooks the best homemade hamburgers
                                            and homemade fries.

It's also "Happy Birthday" today
for Janice's Jeff.
He's been looking for a year for these
old-fashioned lawn chairs--his favorite.
They don't sell them anywhere here anymore.
Just have those canvas ones to carry with you.
Janice found one place in the U.S. that still sells them.
She ordered them online and surprised him!
He's ready to go fishin' now~!
Happy Birthday, Jeff.

Family is Everything…
Riggy and his friends had
already loaded into the car as I
drove up from mailing some things from
the Ridleys post office and picking up
three presciptions at Smith's.
Here's John ready to drive them to
a jumping place for Riggy's birthday party.
Bishop Cheney took some kids, too.
Jackson also had his birthday party tonight.
I got a photo of some of them.
Spencer even came down on the train
from Logan.
That's a lotta shoes...
Lots of pizza, chips, soda, 'n treats...
I think they played Dungeons 'n Dragons.
They have great imaginations!
They are great teenagers!

We had a Stake Women's Conference this morning.
The invitation said to come in "casual dressy" and
some of the Stake Relief Society presidency were
in dressy pants. I said to Kim Beecher: "You gals
are showing the way to break the barrier of 'no
pants worn in the chapel,' to which she replied:
"We wanted to show the sisters we meant it."
Sister Beecher introduced the guest speaker
Athony Sweat, an Associate Professor of
Church History and Doctrine at
Brigham Young University
...his most recent book is
Repicturing the Restoration.
From his talk today "In the Right Church and Redeemed--
How Christ Saves and Helps Us in Our
Weaknesses, Not Despite Them" I learned
some new insights I hadn't known nor
understood before.
[working on typing my notes]
I only kinda bent the rule of no photos
in the chapel. I took these six gals practicing their song before the meeting started. Marylee Farnsworth, Joy Layton, Brenda Walker, Amanda Aalker, Melissa Warner,       Angela Webb, accompanied by Audrey Rockwell. They sang a song about Christ I had not heard before...Come Unto Christ and Live.
The opening and closing prayers by Tara Johnston and
Monica Buchanan were just right, and they hymns
"Lead Kindly Light," and "Precious Savior, Dear Redeemer" were too.
This photo was after the meeting ended. Our stake president,
Jordan Erickson is still seated on the stand.
I then turned around to get a photo of the Sisters who came,
but I think many had already left.
There were several from our ward. When I was walking in, a darling gal got out of her car to also walk in. She had a cute hat like LeAnn Hunt often wears, and she looked like LeAnn. In fact, I thought it was LeAnn, and I told her: "Cute hat." A she got closer I could see it wasn't LeAnn. I aked: "Are you LeAnn Hunt's sister?" "Yes." She invited me to come sit by her and LeAnn and her other sister Valerie who were coming. She added: "We'll be happy to have you sit by the Monson sisters." I wish I'd thought to get a picture of them together at tge end of the meeting.
Here's one of the Stake Relief Society presidency
passing out the parting gift for each one.
I enjoyed talking with Carol after the
Women's Conference.
Thanks to Tara Johnston for taking our photo.
Tara said her move across the street has been good.
She's thankful for all the sisters who helped her.

From there I went to Costco to get my hearing aids cleaned.
Since they usually have some Christmas things
in by September 1st...I drove my handicapped
mechanical shopping cart toward the center of
this "warehouse-type store" to see what they
had. Nothing! Not one Christmas decor, bauble,
nor bow in sight!! I even went around twice to
make sure I hadn't missed it.
Nada, nil, zero, zilch!
Lots of Halloween costumes, however.
...and Halloween candy!

All these Lego sets might be for Christmas sales...
they just don't seem very Christmasy.

Steve and Natalie picked me up for a tailgate party before the
8pm BYU-Utah game began. Natalie got Zupa soup 'n salad while
Steve 'n I got JDawgs.
Steve took a selfie
Steve went back in to get our sodas.
Steve said for it to be a "tailgate party" it
has to be outside. It was perfect weather...
not hot nor cold--just right!
Wish I'd taken a photo of the beautiful
crescent moon that rose between
Cubby's and Smashburger just before
we headed back to watch the kickoff.
Natalie took a photo of us by the
J.DAWGS sign.

Family is Everything…
Today we had three on our bench:
Jackson--after he finished helping as one of
the four priests to prepare the sacrament--
Rigdon, and me.
Maddie was home, not feeling well.
Julie and Jacee are flying back from Florida.
Their plane lands at the SLC Airport at 2:00.
David South conducted. Bishop Cheney
announced that Ben Schality a gay member
of the BYU faculty in the Honors Dept will speak
at a combined adult/youth meeting after
Sacrament Meeting on Sept. 26 about
how to be kinder to the LGBT community.
Our speakers today were youth
speaker: Ashlyn Ballantyne. Then
Kelti and Jacob Brueggeman,
young marrieds.
The Bill and Lisa Miller family sang
"How Will They Know" combined with
"I Am A Child of God." Very touching.

Heidi Wright taught the lesson in Relief Society
from the April 2021 General Conference talk
given by José Teixeira Of the Presidency of the Seventy
"Remember Your Way Back"
"We have Jesus Christ's perfect example
to follow, and he journey roward our eternal home
is possible only because of His teachings,
and His atoning sacrifice."
Heidi said she wondered how she was going
to turn a 10-minute talk into a 45-minute lesson.
She actually only had about 33 min by the
time we got started on the lesson...
and it all worked out.
Elder Teixeira shared how "a boyhood memory
of a young researcher had helped discover
how salmon who, after years of being in
the ocean, return to the exact stream of
their birth to spawn..."
Heidi then had us write down some childhood
memories we had and their effect on us.
Seven memories I wrote down:
1. Purple and white Alyssum planted along
our curving sidewalk from the road to
our front porch.
2. The old McBurney country school house
across the road from its teacherage we
lived in the first five years after we
came back to Idaho after World War II.
3. The fun winter of 1948-49 when I
was in 4th grade and we got to be
out of school so much because of
the roads closed from so much snow,
that we got to play in and sled on.
4. The pleasant aroma of my Mom's
and my Grama Huffaker's homemade
bread backing, then my Grama giving
me a hot slice with butter and sugar
sprinkled on it.
5. Sawdust smell of my Dad always
remodeling our homes.
6. Cottonwood trees in back of my grade school.
7. Kittens in my Grampa's barn.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
My childhood memories don't lead to any
great discoveries like how salmon make
their way back home, but the do
remind me of a very happy childhood!
At the end of the lesson, Heidi asked us
to write a goal to do for the week:
I want to finish a letter that I started in
answer to a letter from a dear friend
I received two week ago...which I think
I will do now.

 John is preparing Sunday dinner,
Jackson has set the table.
Maddie and Riggy are playing battleship.
Julie and Jacee pulled up at 3:23 p.m.
They had a great trip. They said their meals
were very sporadic so they were grateful for
the delicicious roast beef dinner John had ready...
then the yummy dessert: Jackson's
ice cream cake left from his birthday and
the chocolate mousse cake I got at
Costco yesterday.
Maddie's already got the dishes loaded,
and Jackson's finishing getting the food
put away after gathering.
Time for Sunday naps...
