First comes love, then comes marriage...
The night of our wedding reception...
Sat., June 17, 1961
It was time to load our wedding gifts to
take to our folk's storage shed, where we would
load them into a U-haul trailer to take to
our apartment in St. Louis two weeks later.
Walt worked for his Dad for two weeks to earn
money for gas to get back to St. Louis,
then for food and rent, till I could get a
job before he started his third year of medical school.
Within the next 13 years he became the
father of 7 children.
He was a great husband and father!
He became a grandfather in 1988 -- 27 years later.
As of today he is the father of 7,
father-in-law of 6,
grandfather of 39,
and great-grandfather of 2
...then comes a baby in a baby carriage.
(Can't find that fun photo of Janie in baby buggy.)
Here's Janie on her blessing day - First Sunday in August 1963.
Walter Ray Petersen - First child
A daughter - Mary Jane "Janie"
A son - Gary
A son - Steven
A son - David
(I had just learned that it was a creative
activity for kids to do art work in pudding
spread out on the floor.)
(David, do you have a photo with Dad
in your early years?)
This is 1978 - age 8 1/2 when the
lockers were just finished in the
new storage room.
Brian, you would have been 5.
A daughter - Julie
(Julie do you have a photo with Dad
at an early age?)
Julie 2 1/2, David almost 4...
I think.
A son - Brian - about 3 1/2, Jen 2

He worked hard and taught his family to work.
The kids always hoped he wouldn't hear the
announcement about hoeing the beets
at the Church farm, but he was often
the one making that announcement.

taken on Frenchman Island in the Snake River.
Walter Ray Petersen - Family 1984
Our kids would start serving missions in the
Spring/Summer of 1984, so we wouldn't all be
together for family photos for a while.
Gary served June 1984- June 1986 in the
Korea Seoul Mission
Janie served Aug 1984 to Feb 1986
in the Argentina Rosario Mission.

showing bishop and stake president years.
Walter Ray Petersen - Family 1983
He also taught his family to play hard.
Our home teacher, Frank Ham, talked us into
getting a boat. He said the Snake River that ran
through Burley was the best water skiing place
within miles. He was right! We got a boat
about 1978. All summer, on Saturday, it was a
great incentive for the kids to get all their chores
done, then head to the river and a picnic!
Also some Monday family home
evenings happened there.

Before we served our first mission together
for three years away from home.
Katie, our third grandchild had joined the family.
Walt was called to serve as the Mission President of the
Mexico Merida Mission - June 1995 to July 1998.
He was a wonderful mission president!
During those three years he was like a "father figure" for them.
Jen was called to serve in the
Guatemala Guatemala City North Mission - May 1995 to Oct 1996.
She served Oct to Nov 1996 as a Stake Missionary with her Dad.
She trained the sisters who had been hired--at the request of our
Area Presidency--that month to cook for our missionaries. She
also worked with our Hermana missionaries.
Walter Ray Petersen - Two of our sons married during these
three years.
Gary married Kathy Anderson on May 17, 1996, in the Salt Lake Temple.

(Could you please send me wedding photos?)

Their group spent a few hours at Chichen Itza which was
in our mission.
were all together at one time. They gathered to meet with the Prophet. Our missionaries worked very hard and served the

*I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and
the Atonement of Jesus Christ that makes
this Great Plan operational.
Daily Scripture: Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind; and the willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days. - Doctrine and Covenants 64:34 |
Daily Quote: A willing heart describes one who desires to please the Lord and to serve His cause first. He [she] serves the Lord on the Lord’s terms, not his [her] own. There are no restrictions to where or how he [she] will serve. - Marvin J. Ashton |
I share these truths as my testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence. He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration. He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.
*** *** ***
Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
