Family is Everything...
First, regarding last week's post:
Toward the end of the week
something went weird and I
couldn't add, correct, or
delete anything...so I
guess that week will
forever remain
unfinished.
I'm just thankful that I
could start a new post
for this week.

Now onto Monday, May 11th...
Steve came and drove our car
through the car wash and
vacuumed it out.
Then we got lunch for
Walt and me and the kids...
Julie was having lunch with
one of her nieces.
 Karen came to check on
Walt this afternoon.
 Karen checked his right leg
which has been aching for
a few days.
She also filled his pill boxes
for the next two weeks.

It's a little cloudy today...
Natalie came to cut our hair...
we so appreciate her doing
this for us and she always
does an excellent job!
It got sunnier this afternoon
but not very warm.
  We had a great serendipity
when Ashley arrived this early
evening from Rexburg!
Grampa was having a nap
on the couch.
Jacee, Ashley, Carter, and friends
had a fire pit tonight.

Family is Everything...
Happy Birthday, Michael Fisher
"17" years old today!
This is what Janie, his mother,
said about her youngest child...
her "baby."
šŸŽ‰šŸŽˆšŸŽ‚ #birthdayboy Our baby boy is 17 today.
How do years go by so quickly?
I was telling him this morning that we were waiting
the whole school year for him to be born, Sept - May.
He came with me at 5 days old to a sister’s kindergarten
graduation. He was our biggest baby at almost 9 pounds -
and he pointed out that he is now the biggest grown-up child,
having passed both his brothers. We sure love this big tall
grown-up version of our Baby.
Michael, we love you!
Michael - 1st place in Latin Youth

Michael came to see us after Feb 8

Michael is also a great soccer player
on the Madison Soccer Team.

Marci came to help
Walt this morning.
Walt and I enjoy Errol Flynn and
his sword-fighting movies from
the 1930s and 1940s...
I don't know why the 1935
poster for this movie is
in color because the
movie is black and white...
This was Erroll Flynn's first
starring role. He was 26.
Olivia deHavilland was
only 19 years old and this
was her first starring role.
Walt
swashbuckler is a genre of European adventure
literature that focuses on a heroic protagonist
stock character who is skilled in swordplay,
acrobatics, guile and chivalric ideals.
A 'swashbuckler' protagonist is heroic,
daring, and idealistic:
he rescues damsels in distress
protects the downtrodden, and
uses duels to defend his honor or
that of a lady or
avenge a comrade.
Swashbuckler heros are gentleman
adventurers who dress elegantly
and flamboyantly in coats, waistcoats,
tight breeches, large feathered hats,
and high leather boots, and they
are armed with the thin rapiers
used by aristocrats.
More old ships...
So interesting to see these
old ships...
...throwing down their swords
after the victory...
...some scenes like these were used
from an older movie "The Sea Hawk"
Olivia lived to 100 or so with
her daughter in Boise, Idaho.
(She may still be living, I'll
have to check on that.)
They look so young.
...happily ever after.
These lilacs were very beautiful and
fragrant when Julie brought them
in two days ago...
Ashley came in to tell us goodbye
when she headed back to Ogden
to see a girlfriend before driving
on back to Rexburg.
It's been so fun to see her!
 Ashley's ready to pull out...
There goes the 1M Idaho
licensed car...
We watched the TCM
"Saturday Night" Essentials movie
tonight on Buster Keaton...
including the 1926 silent movie
 "The General"
and a special about this great
actor's life.
This one scene in "The General" cost
$42,000...

THIS WEEK-
MAY 25-MAY 31, 2020

Family is Everything…
 Happy Memorial Day
Gary drove to Idaho to put
flowers on 47 family graves
at three cemeteries.
Gary's list...'
First he did six Albertson
family graves at the Albion
Cemetery...
Charles and Mary Ann Albertson,
my Great-grandparents.
Their daughter, Mary Jane, and
Mary Ann's brother, Joseph Hepworth.
Grama Eileen told the kids about
their Great-great Grampa Charles
Albertson who fought in the
Civil War at age 18.
In May 2019,
Josh, Adam, Anna helped
scrub the Albertson headstones.
Last year the Brewers were here
from Minnesota to help us put
flowers on these family graves.
My Grampa Albertson,
my Dad's father, Clarence Albertson...
...has never had a real headstone.
Gary rendezvoused with Fishers
at the Conner's Cafe in Burley
for breakfast, then they drove
an hour on to
 the Wendell Cemetery.
Ashley helped put flowers
on her Great-Grampa
Ray and Great-Grama
Jane Petersen's graves.
Michael scrubbed his
Great-great Grampa Andrew
Petersen's headstone.
Last year we were at the Wendell
Cemetery with Gary, and the
Brewers...Jen, Jerry, Seth, Sarah,
Ben, Josh, Liz, Adam, and Anna.
A great serendipity was to have
two of Mitch and Karen Bunn's
kids their at the same time:
Becky Bunn Vipperman, with her
husband Justin, and their three
children--Audrey, David, and Evelyn,
along with Luke and Becca Bunn.
 Luke and Becca were married
last June. She's part of the
Turner family from Burley.
David had driven us to the Twin Falls
Temple last June 1st for Luke
and Beccas wedding.
Michael, Ashley, and Sam helped
put flowers on their Great-Grandparents
graves -- my Dad and Mom,
Arnold Albertson 1912-1982 and
Verna Huffaker Albertson 1920-2013
Here's 2001...19 years ago with
Aimee, Sam, and Daniel putting
flowers on their Great-great
Grandparents graves...
my Grampa 'n Grama Huffaker,
Simpson David Huffaker 1891-1982
and Ella Morris Huffaker 1891-1982.
They also put flowers on
Aunt Phyllis Petersen Bunn's
grave 1932-2014--Walt's sister,
and her husband, Dale Bunn,
who just died this year on
Walt's birthday April 17, 2020.
He was born on March 12, 1929.
On the back are the names of
their six children...
Don, Matthew, Mitch,
Cliff, Brenda, Beverly.
Then Gary drove the 15 miles on
west to the Hagerman Cemetery
to put flowers on our 8 Albertson
family graves...my Grandmother
Blanche Ilene Hartwell Albertson 1896-1966,
my Uncle Warren Albertson and his wife,
Vida Ricks Albertson, their son Wayne,
who died in his 50s of a brain tumor,
and their 2-year-old son, David, who
drowned in a ditch in Hagerman
when they were moving from one
home on the big ranch to another,
where Uncle Warren worked for
the big rancher there at the bend
as you're just coming in to Hagerman.
Also, my Uncle Jack Albertson is
buried there who was beat up so
badly when he was in the army that
he spent all the rest of his life at
the V.A. Hospital in Salt Lake City.
My Uncle Tom Albertson is buried
in the Owsley plots there by his
wife, Maxine Owsley Albertson.
Blanche Ilene whom I'm named after,
even tho my Mom changed the
spelling from Ilene to Eileen.
Better photo of my
Grama Albertson's headstone...
Blanche Ilene Hartwell Albertson
1896-1966

Jack Albertson -
my Dad's youngest brother.f
Warren and Vida - my Dad's
brother next oldest to him.
Gary also put flowers on Larry Smith's
grave who was killed when he tried to
land a plane in his Dad's pasture in
Bliss. He is Bonnie's oldest son when
she was married to Maurice "Mutt" Smith,
who Gary also put flowers on his grave.
(Gary didn't send us a photo of this grave.
I think I have a photo from past Memorial Days
which I'll have to look up.)
...
Janie and family stopped at
Shoshone Falls on the way back...
Their kids had never been there.
...then put flowers on Shawn's
mother's grave -- Lorene Robins Fisher,
and also his Grandparents--
Lloyd and Elna Robins in the
Burley Cemetery.
Flag in front yard flying
for this national holiday...
Family Picnic in back yard
with the Petersens,
Williams and Cheney families.
 John asked Jackson to bless
the food.
 John makes delicious
bar-b-que ribs.
 John kept the ribs coming...
 Kids go first...
 Shady places were popular...
There were also hot dogs to
go with the ribs...
Grampa enjoyed being outside...
 ...and so did Grama.
 Lots of activities going on...
 ...competition with the frisbies
being thrown into the barrells.
 Teams showed their skill
at getting their frisbie in
the barrel most often.
Camie and Jen were good...
 The trampoline is always
a popular place...
Then Julie had the kids bring
out rocks to be painted.
 Lots of different designs and
colors were created.
 Frisbies kept flying thru the
air for quite a while...
 Walt still doesn't like just
being a spectator...
Camie, Jen, and Julie did
get a few minutes of...
 ...talking together.
We like the new storage shed
that John put together
last week.
If you look closely in this
lilac bush, you can see
Grama A's deer.
 The Memorial Day gathering
is about to end...
 It's been a great afternoon.

Right now it has Tootsie Rolls in it.
Back to the present--

Maddie got braces today,
for the next two years...
May 26, 2020 to May 2022.

 Karen came to see if
Walt is okay.
He's weak but holding
his own for now.

Bert and Peggy Smith
Carter with Julie,
Jackson, and Rigdon.
Gary also came to support
his nephew, Carter.
Carter posed by his table with
high school awards and mememtos.
Now, a year later "Elder Petersen"
served five months in the Brazil
Salvador South Mission, returned home
in March with the thousands of
missionaries who were sent into
quarantine because of the Covid19
Pandemic.
He has now been called to the

Happy May Day

Jacee--age 5-- in Burley then
at a Scandidavian May Day Pole
Friday...all quiet on the Topaz front.
Seemed like Max was looking up at the
family photo wondering where
Julie is...
Max is definitely looking out our
window to see if Julie is
coming back...
One of my favorite candies is very
hard to find these days. Julie
found it at a farm store. It was
only at CalRanch in Burley that
I could find it.

Family is Everything...
The CNA comes three
times a week...
 Jackson mowed the front lawn
early this morning.
Walt didn't last very long watching
this 1968 sci-fi movie...
I didn't get the beginning or
ending 52 years ago...
and I still don't...
Gary said this about
2001: a space odyssey
"It does run a little slow, and some strange imaging
....but still the most true to life space travel movie ever made."
Gary, that's what some of the critics say about it: "No greater science fiction movie was made before this one, and no greater has been made since."
Eileen's note: It did help me a little more to read in Wikipedia that it depicts four phases:
1. The primal -- their learning to use weapons
2.
3.
4.
An update on our grandson Kimble:

Text to family from Steven – Saturday, May 2, 2020

Just a quick update on Kimble: He is at AST school in North Carolina.

This is an invitation only school.

Last month, He had to go to a week long assessment
to see if he would qualify to matriculate.
A few weeks ago, he started his class with 28 guys.
As of this morning there were only 11 guys left!!
Sounds like the "water-con" (water confidence) training is brutal and stressful.

Hope he makes it the rest of the 5 months!!

I asked Steve what AST meant:
Aviation Survival Technician
He will be known as a "Rescue Swimmer"
if he graduates AST School
in September or October 2020.
It's also known as A-School.

Weather looks good today.
Another delicious Sunday dinner...
John's sister, Geni, her two daughters,
her son-in-law and soon-to-be son-in-law
came. John and Jackson helped Geni
move yesterday.
Nothing better than Texas Chocolate
Sheet Cake and Ice Cream for dessert!
 We enjoy being together.
