Traces of Time . . . January 4-10, 2021

TRACES OF TIME . . .  {To see last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.}

THIS WEEK
JANUARY 4, 2021
TO
JANUARY 10, 2021

MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2021

Family is Everything...
A winter day in
Saratoga Springs...
had some sad news about a
dear friend. Walt would be so sad, too.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2021

Family is Everything...
 Another winter day in
Saratoga Springs...Jen called.
Sounds like they had a great Christmas
week in Costa Rica where one of her
college roommates now lives.
Adam was baptized by a waterfall.
They rented a house for a week.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6, 2021
Family is Everything...
2 0 2 1
Ladies' Lunches began
for this new year
at the Thai Village in American Fork.
We were seated at this table.
Interesting decor...
                                          Thailand elephant...
Many choices on the menu...
Kathie and Jeanie...
Ladies' Lunch...Kathie and Jennie chose
Tom Kha Gai soup:

Coconut soup w- chicken, lime leaf, lemon grass,

galanga, mushrooms, green onions and tomatoes.

Jennie, Judy...
Jennie said this is one of their
favorite restaurants.
Linda, Eileen...
Linda said she'd been watching the Electoral
College vote starting, but they were only on
Arizona (or was it Alabama?)
...anyway it looked like it would take a while.
Little did we realize that the
Capitol of our nation was being breeched by an
insurrection while we were having our nice lunch!
Linda chose Cashew Chicken,
Eileen chose Sweet and Sour Chicken.
Everyone said they enjoyed the food.
The six able to come
today to the
Ladies' Lunch are
clockwise from the left:
Eileen, Jennie, Judy,
Kaye, Jeanie, and Linda.
Judy, thank you for initiating these
lunches back in 2019--or was it
2018? And organizing them
each week. The variety of
restaurants in our area is amazing.
We look forward to going to
lunch at Cubby's in American Fork
on Wed., Jan. 13th...
It's always a great time
to be together.

Sunset at the end of a winter day in Saratoga Springs.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 7, 2021

Family is Everything...
Another winter day in
Saratoga Springs.
Sunset 5:51 p.m...
Riggy brought his Baby Yoda
in to talk to my Baby Yoda.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 8, 2021

Family is Everything...
Thanks, David, for working on
my 2005 Cadillac and fixing
the essentials after I dinged up
my windshield fluid container.
Today...(can't remember why I downloaded my
baby photo....This was taken in Hagerman, Idaho in
March 1939 when I was 3 months old. My Dad carried
a copy of this photo in his wallet from then on.)
Today   ....Oh, I loaded that baby photo because
this movie "The Adventures of Robin Hood," was
made by Warner Bros. in 1938, the year I was born.
It was shown on TCM this week. It was only the
second technicolor movie ever made, the first
full major technicolor movie.
Errol Flynn (age 29) was Robin Hood.
He died at age 50.
Olivia de Havilland (age 22) was Maid Marian.
(She just died last July 2020 at the age of 104
in her home in Paris, France.)
Her sister was Joan Fontaine.
They don't know for sure when the
real Robin Hood lived. This says 1191A.D.
The major writings about him are in the 1300
and 1400s.
I liked sword fighting in movies
from an early age. I didn't realize
until recently that they were fighting
to the death...which must have been
a rather gruesome death.

Brian texted that the Nashville area
had reached a new high in their
education policies. They had cancelled
online classes today because of snow.

Here's how much snow they had.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 2021

Family is Everything...

I turned from my desk and saw
Max curled up in the recliner. He hangs out with me when
Julie is gone. She's with Maddie at a dance competition all day.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 10, 2021

Family is Everything...
I told my kids today that if they read
one year in the life of Grama A. each
Sunday, they'd have her
life story all read in
two years.
 Turning the hearts of the
grandchildren to their grandmother...
Come, read about...

Come, Follow Me
...for Jan 4-11:
"I SAW A PILLAR OF LIGHT"
Joseph Smith History 1:1-26
Steve drove me to their home
to have dinner with Natalie and him,
Kimble, Cortney,
Kelsey and Josh.
When we got there
Natalie was practicing the piano.
Steve and Kimble...
Natalie set a beautiful table...
I took a photo of everyone.
Kimble took a photo of me
taking the photo of everyone.
Josh and Kelsey...
She made a delicious broccoli cheese
soup. Maybe it was with califlower.
Natalie made delicious homemade
noodles for chicken noodle soup,
and a delicious homemade chili--
one with hamburger, one without.
Kimble really liked his Mom's
homemade noodles.
After two fun games:
"Do you know me?"
and "Telestrations" we all sat on
the couch for a photo.
They showed an old photo
of everyone
making a face except Kimble.
Steve drove me back home after
a great two hours with them.
** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this January 10th,
I pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
I share these truths as my testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.
*** *** ***
Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
