Family is Everything...    Today

Daily Scripture: Behold, it is my will, that all they who call on my name, and worship me according to mine everlasting gospel, should gather together, and stand in holy places. - Doctrine and Covenants 101:22
Daily Quote: In holy places and in sacred space we find spiritual refuge, renewal, hope, and peace. Are these not worth every necessary personal sacrifice? My brethren and sisters, may each of us revere and respect the holy and sacred in our lives. - Dennis B. Neuenschwander

The days are getting longer...
TUESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2021

Family is Everything...
Goodbye Christmas tree
for another year...
I actually got to have the tree up
for 56 days, but I was gone 24
of those days (12 days in
Rochester, Minnesota Nov 29-Dec 10...
and 12 days in Rexburg, Idaho
Dec 22-Jan 2).
So I got to see
my tree 32 days.
Thank you to Jackson for
helping your Mom take this
beautiful tree out to the
storage shed for safe keeping
until next November. I liked
having it up early!
A new tradition has begun!
Julie, both put my Christmas decorations up
and then took them down. It is so appreciated!
I used to wonder why my Grampa 'n Grama Huffaker
said: "We don't think we'll put a tree up this Christmas."
(My Mom and Dad and siblings would come and do it
for them.)  Grampa 'n Grama were in their late 80's.
Now I realize that they just didn't have the energy
or physical ability to do it, and
I'm only in my early 80's.
Here's back on November 23 with
Natalie after she drove me to get a Covid test.
My Christmas tree had been up almost a week.
Actually here's how it happened back on Nov. 17:
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2020

Family is Everything...
I had a fun serendipity today.
Julie took out the rocking chair
                                                    that goes here...

And now there is my Christmas tree that Jackson and Julie
brought in from the storage shed...
                                                            Riggy helped put on some
of the ornaments that had fallen off. We store it still decorated.
Now it's up and lit. So exciting to have it up. Normally we've never
put a Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving, but as Julie
says: "These are not normal times."
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2021
Family is Everything...
 The Ladies' Lunch was
at Cubby's in Am. Fork
The five able to come are:
Eileen, Jennie, Sandi,
Linda, and Judy
Here's a closer view of Jennie, Sandi, Linda, and Judy.
Gary was able to come for movie night.
We have chosen films about our Nation's
government for January...
tonight we watched "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"
with Jimmy Stewart and Jean Arthur from 1939.
Don't know why they make the poster in color
when it's a black and white movie?
This was one Senator who was true and honest.
I'm so glad Gary could come.
He took a selfie of us.
Next week we're going to watch "The Candidate."
He said it was required to watch in his freshman
American History class at BYU.

for our first three missions -
for 6 1/2 years.
During our fourth mission,
Julie volunteered to
have Grama A live with
her and John and their
family. They took such
great care of her
from June 2011 to
July 2013 while we were
in San Salvador El Salvador
serving in the temple there.

Now to BYU basketball...
BYU played Saint Mary's Gaels
at Mara_____ in California.
They've only won one time there.
They were down 5 at half time,
and trailed most of the game.
Then the Gaels went cold, and
BYU had a 19-2 run in the last
10 minutes. With 2:52 minutes
left they went up 53-50 and never
trailed again, winning 62-52.
Mark Pope has not had back to back
losses in his two years coaching at BYU.
Way to go, Cougars!

Daily Scripture: Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. - Psalm 143:10
Daily Quote: Very few people give enough thought to eternal life. Yet it is something each of us should keep uppermost in our minds and hearts. As children of God, we cannot afford to forget our origin and destiny if we desire the realms of celestial glory. - Delbert L. Stapley

Family is Everything...
Today I proofread two chapters
of the book Steve is writing...
Construction IQ - Chapters 6 and 7.
It is so well written~
There are 10 Chapters. I'm learning a
lot about Construction Superintendents.

I watched an old TCM movie from 1948:
"Rachel and the Stranger," starring
Loretta Young, Wm Holden,
and Robert Mitchum.
I've always liked Loretta Young.
It was in black 'n white.
My favorite movie with Loretta Young
is "The Bishop's Wife"
with Cary Grant, David Niven.

More BYU basketball...
Today BYU Cougars vs the
San Francisco Dons
BYU 72 - S/F 63
What's a Don?
"Don" is an acronym for De Origen Noble, which translates to "of noble origin" and is a Spanish title given only to a noble person of political, social or official distinction. The name references the early history of California and San Francisco, which was marked by the exploits of the adventuresome and swashbuckling Spanish Dons. All USF students and alumni are of noble origin who share in the long passion for learning in order to better understand the past, clarify the present and anticipate the future.
Thus, we are proud to call ourselves the Dons.

USF's mascot is named Don Francisco, in honor of Don Francisco de Haro, the first mayor of San Francisco.

Family is Everything...
We had Sacrament Meeting at 10:30
for Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward.
Paige Howell and
Yvonne Rodabough were the
speakers on Elder Cook's talk
on "Righteousness."
Jackson blessed the Sacrament today
and did a great job.
I'm thankful for sitting by
Julie and John and family
in Church.
We are having sunny weather
for January.
Sisters sat together on
the 2-minute ride home.
Good view of Mt. Timp...
 Riggy changed clothes fast...
Max waits--not so patiently--
while we're gone.
Jacee
...is back to dancing after her knee surgery last January.

Steve and Natalie came this
afternoon to take me for a walk.
It was great. Thank you so much.
Sunday dinner is ready...
Thanks, John, for another delicious roast beef dinner.

"I SAW A PILLAR OF LIGHT"
Joseph Smith History 1:1-26
Painting of Joseph Smith's First Vision
Another painting of The First Vision...
I have a testimony that Joseph saw what he said he saw.
God did have a calling and work for him.
However, God also has a calling for you and for me.
Here's what our living Prophet of today says:
"God has a work for you to do... “Ask your Heavenly Father, in the

name of Jesus Christ, how He feels about you and your mission

here on earth. If you ask with real intent, over time the Spirit will

whisper the life-changing truth to you… I promise you that when

you begin to catch even a glimpse of how your Heavenly Father

sees you and what He is counting on you to do for Him, your life

will never be the same!”

-Russell M. Nelson
*I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this January 17th,
I pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
I share these truths as my testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
