Traces of Time . . .

~~~ WEPR WEEK ~~~
Family is Everything…
 Jacee  brought Grampa one of the
Cinnamon rolls she made from scratch.
Bicycling today for 30 minutes...
...at our user friendly Club House.
TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 2019
Family is Everythi4g…
 Marci helped Grampa start the day.
Karen, Walt's home health nurse,
comes on Tuesdays to check his
heart and blood pressure, and
to see how he is. We like her so much!
 It was a delight to have Walt's cousins
come from Brigham City to see us.
Well, Reed and Phyllis from Gilbert, Arizona,
are staying with Reed's sister Carol in
Brigham City. They are here for the
annual Petersen-Jensen Family Reunion
that is always on the 4th Saturday of June.
We have gone several times.
We got to go last year. This Saturday it
is at the Golden Spike Cafe in Corrine.
It's the same Saturday as our WEPR, so
we will miss it this year. Reed and Phyllis
keep it going. Hope we can go next year.
Reed and Carol are the last of Uncle Charlie's
(?or is it Uncle Willie's?) 6 children.
Besides Reed, Phyllis, Carol and
her husband Roy, we know Lareen
(and Stan and Vida's other kids) and
Dee Jensen the best from this branch
of the Petersen-Jensen family.
They landed at 11:55p.m.
 We didn't have movie night tonight.
Gary was up late getting ready for the WEPR.
We are getting our power point slides from
our four missions combined into a summary
version to show at the WEPR.
Family is Everything...
Our Family Reunion Begins...
The WEPR:
"Walt and Eileen Petersen Family Reunion"
Emma flew in from Alaska
Boating and swimming today...
Cousins are already
doing things together...
Julie cooked waffles 'n bacon for everyone...
Brian will be picking Emma up when she flies
in from Anchorage.
John said it would be good to have an afternoon on the
boat in case it is too cold (as forecast) on Saturday.
Gary and Isaac picked up paddle boats...
Gary, John, and Brian assembled and pumped the paddle boats really fast.
It was a hot afternoon.
John set up his shade cover for us. Thanks, John.
Who's having the first turn on the boat?
Brian and Jenn went on the paddle boats.
We went over to be the "adults" at the pool.
Gary is decked out with a snorkel mask and fins for fast
swimming.
Gary is jumping off the diving board.
Gary and Lizzy are doing a double hand stand.
Headed to the Cabin in Park City Thursday late afternoon....for the GATHERING!
It was an hour and 15 minute drive from Saratoga Springs to the cabin north of Park City.
    A "Welcome" sign out front greeted us with "Welcome" in many languages from
"AROUND THE WORLD"
Isaac greeted each guest
by giving them a personal passport,
a security whistle, compass, and light,
and a pencil with flags from
different countries.
Here Taylor and Avery look over
their passports.
Lizzy and Kayden get their passports.
One of the rules for the cabin was "No shoes worn inside."
Janie is getting the "Gathering Meal" ready.
 Gary and Brian helped cook the
hamburgers and hot dogs for
Janie, Ashley, and Michael's gathering supper...
Brian and Gary pitched in to help the Fishers because only three could come from their family.
Janie brought her delicious baked beans from Aunt Phyllis's recipe that she has tweaked a little. What a treat!
Teens need to eat first because they are always starving.
Isaac, age 13, and Jackson, age 14.
Each family prepared a delicious meal. Thank you all.  We were well fed for the entire time!
 The gathering day is always exciting. Even, Rigdon, the youngest at age 4, lasted late into the evening.  Some were up even after midnight. So much to say to each other to catch up...except in this day and age--via texting--we can be in touch every day of the year.
FRIDAY, JUNE 21, 2019
I recorded each event in my Passport.
Breakfast is the one meal the teens are not first in line....they are still sleeping.
Brian's orthopedic surgeon diagnosis for Janie's injury when she fell doing her tinikling finale: Feels like it could be a total tear of the ligament in the left knee - ACL.
Not every family reunion has their own orthopedic surgeon on hand. Brian, thank you for helping Janie.
[Note from later. The MRI of Wed, June 26 shows: Not only a torn ACL, but a broken meniscus, and a ruptured Baker's cyst.  She will have surgery in late August.]
Steve and Natalie, and Carter served pulled pork sandwiches, cole slaw, fruit, and chips 'n salsa for lunch. So tasty! Thanks you three!
Janie and Ashley in the foreground.
Janie, Ashley, Michael had the country of ARGENTINA... where Janie served her mission.
She had some yerba mate--cold--for those to sample who wanted
to...showed her bomba
and metal straw
she brought back from there.
Then it was time to learn the
T A N G O ...
Always a pleasure to see Julie and John dance. (A gal in our ward told me when the Petersons were just moved in and the ward had a dance, everyone was blown away when Julie and John started dancing! Then word spread that they had been dance teachers.)
They don't get a chance to dance much anymore. Loved seeing them dance together!
Janie knew just the right dance music to play.
Most everyone got involved
in the fun.
Ashley and Jacee are excellent dancers...
...but whether you take a lot of dance lessons, or just dance for fun, we all had a great time!
Grampa wanted to dance...so Gary and David helped hold him up while he danced with his granddaughters Ashley, then Jacee cut in, followed by Anna cutting in, and then Julie cut in. Janie couldn't because of her injured knee.
Dancing always livens up the party!
The cousins former closer
to put here...)
 This was a game in the round--forgot what it was called.
Gary and Steve enjoy talking with each other.
Gary and Isaac had a world map on the wall that was 4' by 7'. Each person could write the countries they have been to.
Family is Everything…
 We were going to boat today for the last of
the reunion, but the forecast is for a 20 degree
drop in temperature -- from the 80s to the 60s.
We still boated.
xx
xxx
 Ashley set up her cell phone to
video the whole group, then
chose the best "still" photo.
Thanks, Ashley!
As Natalie said: "These millenniels can
do anything!"
 We
 Back to Saratoga Springs to boat on Utah Lake
and swim in the Hot Springs pool
and picnic at the park by the pool.
The hero for today is John who
drove the boat all afternoon
to help everyone who wanted
to be on the boat or ride the
tube or surf could have
a great time.
Thanks, John!
Who has photos from out on the boat?
 Who has photos of the swimmers Saturday?
We
It was chilly (62 high) and windy,
but we wore jackets and sweaters
and wrapped up in blankets.
We
We
Thank you, Ashley, for letting me
use your beautiful, soft, fuzzy,
Madison Bobcat red and grey
cheer blanket your Mom made
for your senior year.  It kept
me warm and cozy in the wind.
Some of the locals didn't get a turn
on the boat, so the "far-awayers" could
have the fun today.  Steve, Nat,
Gary, Janie will get
 a ride later in the summer.
It's been great having 6 of our 7
children together with some of
their children...
Here are the six siblings...
in birth order from right to left:
Janie, Gary, Steve, David,
Julie, and Brian.
Brothers and sisters together...
Janie - Rexburg, Idaho
Gary - Pleasant Grove, Utah
Steve - Saratoga Springs, Utah
David - Draper, Utah
Julie - Saratoga Springs, Utah
Brian - Shelbyville, Tennessee
(Jen from Rochester, Minnesota,
was not able to come with her
husband and family.
They flew out and were all with us
over Memorial Day weekend this
year and we had a cherished
time putting flowers on our family
graves in Albion-Wendell-Hagerman, Idaho.)
A serendipity was going to the
6:40 showing of "Toy Story 4."
Tom Hanks is quoted as saying:
"Of all the movies I have ever made,
the Toy Story 4 is my favorite."
We all liked it a lot.
Grampa may have given it the
hands back and forth sign to me.
But then, he can't really follow
movies anymore.
We went to Arctic Circle
after for treats.
Everyone was pretty tired.
  Grampa got a carmel milkshake.
I got a carmel-marshmellow sundae
like I used to get after school at
the old Wendell Drug Store in
the 1950's when it was 15 cents
for one scoop and 25 cents
for two scoops of ice cream.
Thanks to Gary and Isaac for planning
a great reunion.
Thanks everyone who could come
for making it a great reunion.
The 2019 WEPR is officially
adjourned until next year.
Here's Julie's summary:
WEPR 2019 was a great success, if you don’t count: four popped balls for nine square, boating in 60* weather, one overflowing toilet and
 a torn ACL from tinikeling.
(Only upside to that was we had an orthopod on hand...)
 It’s always so great to be together sibs.
Much laughter and even a few tears.
My dad is always happiest when
 the family gets together.
Love you all! ðŸ’œ
'I will add Julie's photos tomorrow
Natalie's quote about the WEPR:
WEPR 2019 last weekend was a good time with great people.
Future WEPR'S....
Those attending this year have
voted to rotate in birth order.
Steve and Natalie will be in
charge for the 2020 WEPR.
They will contact each family
to choose a date--probably in June--
that is best for the majority of
the 7 families.
We love each one of the members
of our family.
We loved being with you
who could come, and
we missed those of you
who could not come.
Love from the WEP
of the WEPR.
We are so thankful for The Plan of Salvation
and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ
that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this June  23rd,
we pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
We share these truths as our testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when
we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just as we are at this very moment.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.
Of these truths we testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
