THIS WEEK- JANUARY 14,
TO JANUARY 20, 2019

Family is Everything…
Today is the remembrance of my Mother's 99th birthday.
I shared some of these photos on
face book today for my Mom.
Verna Beth Huffaker Albertson
January 14, 1920
to
July 26, 2013
Mom, we love you!
Verna and Arnold at the Jerome County Fair
a couple of weeks
before they eloped to Hailey, Idaho.
During World War II my Dad worked at
the Ship Yards in Long Beach, California.
1941-1945.
Mom at age 26 in 1946
I remember this is how she
wore her hair during the War.
In 1957 I came home
from Henager's Business College
in Salt Lake City for Labor Day weekend.
My Mom and Dad were sealed on
June 14, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple.
This was the day Walt and I
were married in the Salt Lake Temple.
My sister, Janice, and I were also
sealed to my parents that same day.
A very tender time!
Walt and I drove home for a week's
vacation in June 1962 at the
end of his third year at
Washington University School of Medicine
in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dad and Mom on their
25th Wedding Anniversary in 1962.
Dad was 49 and Mom was 42.
1966 - age 46
Mom colored her hair for 40 years.
When she served a mission in England at age 70,
she let her natural color grow out and it
was a beautiful white!
Verna - 2012 - Age 92
When Walt and I were in Utah
from El Salvador for Walt's back surgery.
Verna - 2012 age 92
with her sister, Lorraine, age 87
Lorraine passed away a few months
before Mom did, but we didn't
tell Mom. I think my Mom must
have been surprised to see
Lorraine already in heaven
when she got there.

Janice and I took Mom to lunch
at the Olive Garden in American Fork
when I was in Utah with Walt from
San Salvador for his back surgery.
This was the day before Mother's Day
in 2012.
Janice helped watch over Mom so well,
especially during the
times we were gone on missions.
Then on our last mission, Julie and John had
her live with them.
We are so thankful to them all for being such
good care givers for Mom.
Below is Verna on her 93rd birthday
January 14, 2013 with Janice.
Mom  passed away 7 months later -
July 26, 2013.
She often said:
"Old age isn't for wimps."
Mom and Dad await the resurrection
day from this grave in the
Wendell Idaho Cemetery.
God Bless their souls.
We look forward to being
reunited with them.
Back to today...
Julie took us to the Home Owners' Association
Club House here to exercise.
We chose to ride the stationery bikes.
I think our legs are going
to be sore tomorrow.
Then we sorted photos most of the
rest of the day.
For Family Home Evening we read
Luke 2 and Matthew 2.
We look forward to discussing them
in Sunday School next Sunday.

Family is Everything…
Marci came this morning.
Then we went to Institute at ten o'clock.
Our lesson was the first chapter of Moses
in the Pearl of Great Price.
 Sue Spencer was the teacher.
She did a great job.
 These slides explained the difference
between being transformed and being translated.
Being transformed is temporary.
Being translated is permanent.
do
Satan seeks to destroy the agency of man.

God's work and glory is to
bring to pass the Immortality and Eternal Life
of Walter Petersen, Eileen Petersen, each
one of our children, and each one of you!
(See Moses 1:39)
Moses 1 teaches a lot.
We estimate that about 50 attend this
Institute class which started last Tuesday
and goes until May studying
The Pearl of Great Price.
We have learned a lot already
in our two classes on
The Pearl of Great Price.
Then at 12:30 Mark came to
do Home Health Physical Therapy.

Today we had chili and tuna fish
for lunch.
We sorted more photos and I worked
on our blog.
This evening we watched an interesting
movie: "Goodbye, Christopher Robin."
Walt and I liked it, but it didn't
get good reviews in 2017
when it premiered in England.
Walt was hardly aware
of Winnie-the-Pooh.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2019
Family is Everything…
We went to watch Rigdon at
his Itty Bitty Basketball clinic.

Rigdon does really well.
Gary came in the evening and
we watched Sergeant York
Sergeant York is a 1941 American biographical film about the life of Alvin York, one of the most-decorated American soldiers of World War I. It was directed by Howard Hawks and was the highest-grossing film of the year.
The film was based on the diary of Sergeant Alvin York.... York refused, several times, to authorize a film version of his life story, but finally yielded to persistent efforts in order to finance the creation of an interdenominational Bible school. The story that York insisted on Gary Cooper for the title role derives from the fact that producer Jesse L. Lasky recruited Cooper by writing a plea that he accept the role and then signed York's name to the telegram.
Cooper went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal. The film also won for Best Film Editing and was nominated in nine other categories, including Best Picture, Director (Hawks), Supporting Actor (Walter Brennan), and Supporting Actress (Margaret Wycherly). The American Film Institute ranked the film 57th in its 100 most inspirational American movies. It also rated Alvin York 35th in its list of the top 50 heroes in American cinema.
We've loved this movie
for a long time.
We always enjoy being with Gary.

Family is Everything…
Marci from home health will be here
Walt talks to Marci in Spanish.
She is from Lima, Peru.

Mark came to do physical therapy.
He's trying to teach Walt to walk
with heel then toe so that he is
less likely to fall.

It rained a lot today.

We dashed over to Walmart and got
some file folders to sort some papers into.
Walt also needed a calculator.  It's poor pickings for
those now since most everyone uses their smart phones.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 18, 2019

Family is Everything…
Wow...two Walts.
We have a hard time getting on alone,
but we made it.
Walt is happy to have such a up-to-date
stationery bike to ride at the residential club house.
We can see Utah Lake and the beautiful
mountains out the window.
We felt good about going to exercise.
Supper was a delicious indoor winter picnic...
homemade hamburgers and homemade French fries.
 Cute girls...Maddie and Cali.
Their wonderful friend came to visit...
We had a great Friday. We watched a fun movie,
...then tried watching "The Fall of the Roman Empire,"
made it 1964. It was too slow moving and boring.
We didn't watch past the intermission.

Family is Everything…
We Last Saturday, January 12 we
went to the Draper Temple with David.
He just sent us the photo taken on his
phone because the battery on my
phone had gone dead.
This morning we drove up to Draper to rendezvous with
David, Sam, and Will to watch Sam's Jr. Jazz basketball game.
Sam had a great game and was high point with 14.
His team won 44-23...or something like that.
They did a "mercy rule" at the end and didn't
put all of Sam's team's points on the score board.
William got in this photo.

Then David took us out to lunch
at La Hacienda. Delicious!!
I put my black winter coat over my legs
because we were by the door, and
every time someone came in (which was often)
a cold draft blew in.
We drove back home, washed and dried clothes,
had a nap, then...
Steve took us out to supper tonight...
  ...at Denny's.
Steve said he loves breakfast food,
but hardly ever eats breakfast so
he got a banana choco breakfast.
I got a short stack and Walt got a
house salad.
We always love being with Stever.

We are so blessed to get to be with
four of our seven kids and their families
on a regular basis now.
We miss Idaho--our homes and friends there,
but we couldn't take care of ourselves alone now,
so our kids knew this was the time we needed to move.

Family is Everything…
We went to our Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward
block from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
For FHE on Monday, we had

read Luke 2 and Matthew 2.
But out teacher mainly discussed Luke 1 and Matthew 1.

We had a fun surprise visit from
one of our missionaries.
Angeles Cortes Salmeron
is from Puerto Rico and
when she returned from
serving with us in the
Mexico Merida Mission,
she married a wonderful
young man from El Salvador.
They live in Payson now.

We love her, her husband Rigolo and her family. They had their 12-y-o daughter with them. Her other son and daughter were at a mission farewell in Lehi.

Julie took a photo of us.
The sun lit the top of the mountains on
the east of us in a brilliant light just before sunset. The mountain on the left is Mt. Timpanogos.
When Gary arrived at the family gathering tonight for "Sundae Sunday" he was in full Rams gear. He has been a Rams fan since he was a little boy. It's been a long time since they were in the Super Bowl.  He is excited.
Too bad about the "non-call" of
pass interference near the end of
regulation time, but Gary's
happy the game went in to overtime.
Julie had everyone sort photos tonight.                                                           They had fun seeing their childhood come alive again.

Then it was time for chocolate cake and ice cream.
(We don't have just "sundaes" on Sundae Sunday.)
We all have a good time together.
There was a lot of discussion about trek
at Martin's Cove. Natalie is Stake YW President
and their stake is going July 8-11.
Julie and John are a Ma and Pa for their ward
and they go to Trek July 10-13.
Kimble had some news for everyone...
He's getting a second chance at the Coast Guard.
They are reviewing his medical history and
if he passes a respiratory Asthma test he may still
be eligible to become a rescue swimmer for them.
   We always enjoy being together.
John and Julie did their January measuring.
Jacee grew just a half-inch. Jackson grew 5 inches
in a year! Maddie grew
and Rigdon is 3'5" tall at age 4.
John is right at 6' and Julie is a half inch shorter at 5'9'.
Walt is down from 6' to 5'10 1/2" and I'm down
from 5' 7 1/2" to 5'5".
Gary had us all look at the
"Super Blood Wolf Moon" as he was leaving.
It is the first full moon in January and tonight
it's an eclipse that will made the moon look red.
One of our missionaries (Robert Walker) took this
photo of it.

We pray you have had a restful and peaceful January 20th.
At the end of this Sabbath Day,
we testify of these truths...
Heavenly Father lives and loves us. He knows us by name and wants us to be successful in this life on this planet that He had Jesus Christ and Michael (Adam) create under His direction.

Jesus Christ is the First-born Spirit Son of our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother.  He came to Earth to be our Savior through His Infinite Atonement. He made the Plan of Salvation operational and because He broke the bands of death, we will all be resurrected.  Christ is the Redeemer of all.

Joseph Smith is the Prophet of the Restoration, fulfilling his fore-ordination to restore the Gospel to the Earth for this Last Dispensation.  Joseph Smith is the Restorer of all things.

The Bible is the "word of God as far as it i translated correctly;*"....and is a testament of the divinity of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Mormon is also "the word of God*" and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet for the entire Earth today.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true Church on the Earth today.
*Article of Faith, Number 8.

Of these truths we testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
