First -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR GRANDDAUGHTER--
McKELL PETERSEN
Julie drove up yesterday for the funeral of a friend today. She spent from 8pm last night till 5am this morning with her Blueberry friends...just the ones who live in Burley. They are Julie, Emy, Trista, Cindy, and Kim. The others who could not be here are Jan, Jen, Stacy...and seems like I'm leaving someone out.
We had "breakfast" at Taco Bandido before Julie went to the viewing at the Little Theater at noon.
It was too cold to stop and get any photos outside The King Fine Arts Center where the funeral was held.
Kathy Marker took this photo with the inscription:
"The last time Mr. Call goes through the
doors of the Little Theater at the
King Fine Arts Center
He was a great person and will be missed.
We took a couple of photos then Julie headed home right after the funeral.
We love it when Julie gets to come
and be with us.
We worry about our kids when they
'have to drive on snowy roads.
We always have a prayer in our heart
for the safety of our kids when
they are traveling.
The sun came out and we had blue skies.
Such a patriotic feeling on these'
holidays when the Boy Scouts
put the flags on our lawns.
Tonight we had our Neighborhood Empty Nesters'
Family Home Evening at the home of Gary and Colleen McCall.
We got to chat with each other
while everyone gathered.
Dave and Marilyn said theu thought
that for Presidents' Day they
wanted to bring a dessert
with cherries...
so they chose New York Cheesecake
topped with cherries and sauce.
Delicious!
Great choice.
Colleen always sets a beautiful table.
She had flags and patirotic hats
to commemorate this Presidents' Day.
Walt and Scott have been
friends for many years.
Bonnie wasn't supposed to tell,
but she did...
It's Ken's birthday today.
Happy Birthday, Ken.
If I remember right, he conducted his first
new Burley Third Ward Sacrament Meeting
as the new Bishop on his birthday back in 1978.
Gary smoked a briskett....
which was so tender and savory!
Fronks brought a fruit plate,
Hansen's brought corn they had
frozen last August and it'
tasted as though it were
fresh from the cob,
Roskelleys must have
brought the rolls.
Gorton's brought an interesting green
bean and onion 'Cyprus' dish,
Bloxhams brought tossed salad,
and Petersen's brought carrot
and celery sticks, and kiwi.
Roskelleys in the dining room.
Gortons...
Petersens, Gibbons, and
McCalls were at this table in
the dining room.
(The photo I took of Gibbons and McCalls
didn't take...sorry, sometimes I think I
have the picture and I didn't hit the
button correctly and it didn't record.)
McCalls then had us all gather in
their living room by the cozy fire...
...for a contest on trivia about...
U.S. presidents.
As Colleen said: "It is Presidents' Day."
Each couple was a team.
Gary had 30 questions for us to answer.
The winners were the Bloxhams
who got four correct.
We then gathered for the group photo.
Front-- Walt, Colleen Gary, Bonnie.
Standing: Left to right: George, Jacque,
Scott, G'lenn, Ken, Bonnie, MaryAnn,
Darrell, Dave, Marilyn, Ken.
This photo Bonnie took with Eileen
sitting next to Walt.
Colleen had patriotic red, white,
and blue hats for decoration o
the tables, so had us wear
them for the photo.
Gary and Colleen are always
a very gracious host and bostess.
Thank you, McCalls.
We all had a great time together
at your beautiful home.
We missed Dan Black who was
recuperating at home after being
in the hospital Saturday evening.
Steve and Sherry Ormond were
with their kids and grandkids
for this family home evening.
We missed you three.
