This week in Burley, I D A H O - March 30-April 5, 2015

This week in Burley, I D A H O
Monday to Sunday - March 30-April 5, 2 0 1 5

March 30, 2015 - Monday
Walt had his physical therapy #11 at the Burley Hospital.

We took an afternoon drive, then went to Parkview Care Center to
see Andy Wilson who is there recovering from a heart attack in
March.

For Family Home Evening we read our Sunday School lesson for April 12. (There will be no Sunday School Sunday, April 5 because it is General Conference.)
Very interesting information about The Transfiguration. Can't wait for the lesson on it.
March 31, 2015 - Tuesday
We went to see Don & Ruth Melling.
When I went back over to take something to Ruth, Tom & Irene Blayney were there.  The Blayneys live between Mellings and us.
Here are Don & Ruth in the photo with Tom & Irene.  We've all been neighbors for 40 some years.
That evening we sat by George & Jacque Gorton, Ken & Bonnie Fronk, Bro. McClaws, and Christine Kemp at the Stake High Priests' Dinner.
Here are the Fronks and Bro. McClaws.
The "Forever Plaid" quartet Kerry Arritt, Wendell Wells, Wayne Blauer, and Mike Felman sang wonderful songs from the 1940s and 50s...like "We Will Have These Moments to Remember,"   " (I'm trying to remember the others...senior moment of remembering...)
Alan Hales played some Golden Oldies he had arranged for the piano.
We had a nice time, and the dinner of pulled pork with  Jay Ward's sauce over it, plus baked potato, cole slaw, and baked beans, with dessert of ice cream over peach cobbler was delicious--as always.
It was wonderful seeing several friends we had not seen since we've been back  home.
April 1, 2015 - Wednesday
We drove over to the temple to help with our Burley 3rd Ward's assignment for the High Priests to do sealings at 11:00 a.m.
We met with President Hobbs, the temple president after, and because of our health and age he recommended that we be released from our temple shifts.
    This is a sad day.
When we got back to Burley Dale & Connie stopped by to see us.
It always makes our day better when they come to see us.  They had brought their tax info over for Connie's son-in-law, Joel Robins, to do their taxes.
Then we had a nice visit from Dick & Jan Huizinga.  Jan is famous for her baking.
She brought Hot Cross Buns...
Billy Bread, and...
...several varieties of yummy cookies.  Such a treat!
What a sweetheart she is.
I am sad I didn't take a picture of Dick with her.
His "80th" birthday is next Monday, April 6.
We couldn't believe he was even near 80 years old!

April 2, 2015 - Thursday
We did some dusting and washing bedding for the upstairs bedrooms getting ready for John & Julie and family to come Friday for Easter General Conference weekend.
Then we walked over to see the Mellings.  We told them this was the one day of this week that we hadn't signed anyone of us to bring them dinner.  Ruth said they had so much food from the Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday dinners that they had plenty of food they'd saved to choose from for tonight.
On our walk back home, we took a photo of the Blayney's home.
Walt walked along the rows of flowers in front of our home. Looks like we have almost a hundred tulips ready to bloom.
We hope they bloom when Julie & John and family are here.

April 3, 2015 - Friday
The April Ward Dinner was "Breakfast for Dinner."
The beautiful centerpiece display focused on the Savior and the Easter miracle of His Resurrection.
It's always nice to be with our Ward Family.  It was fun to have Darrell & MaryAnn Roskelley and their daughter, Jennifer, her husband, Bryon, and family here from Rexburg.
We sat by Ken & Bonnie Fronk, Christopher Fronk, and Scott Bloxham.
The "breakfast for dinner" had lots of delightful food which was scrumptious.
Alice Hansen always helps make it festive and colorful.
And many hands make the putting away of the tables and chairs fast.  McKay Gerratt, the Bishop's son, is a great young man!
More helpers...Scott Bloxham, and Eric Pierce, who is a great First Counselor in our Bishopric.
Diane Fluckiger, in our Primary Presidency, helped hide the many Easter Eggs for the kids.  On the right is Alice Hansen, mentioned above, and Kathy Marker, on the left, is always willing to lend a helping hand.
When we got home, we were happy to have the Saratoga Springs Petersons just arrive.
Julie & John, Jacee, Jackson, Maddie, and Rigdon came to be with us for Easter.
What a great time we had together for two days.

April 5, 2015 - Sunday - "HE IS RISEN AS HE SAID"

We hope you have had a nice Easter General Conference Sunday with family and/or friends.
We so enjoyed having Julie & John and their family here this weekend from Saratoga Springs, Utah.
 185th ANNUAL GENERAL CONFERENCE --
