"Time moves slowly, but passes quickly...
On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.
All that I am or ever hope to be,
I not only owe to my
angel mother and father,

...but my wonderful husband,
Walter Ray Petersen.

Walt called himself "The last of the old-time country doctors."
He delivered about 4,000 babies, among fixing broken hips, other surgeries, and even made house calls.As Janie said in his obituary:"He healed many hearts, heads, hands, and everything in-between."
In the 1950s you had to be 20 to serve a mission. This is Walt in August 1954, on the day he was set apart in Salt Lake City
to be a missionary.

Walt was also a carpenter at heart--like his carpenter father, Ray Petersen.
Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen...
...their spouses--Julie, John, Jennifer, Jerry--our 39 grandchildren--8 spouses of G-C, and 8 great-grandchildren, including Ingrid Ray born December 4, 2024--for a posterity of 71.

May 18th,
I pray you have had a restful, peaceful, and spiritual Sabbath Day...
I share these truths as   my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence. He loves us just as we are at this very moment.

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.

"Jesus Christ, He, the Son of God, who by His matchless and eternal power overcame death. He is the Redeemer of the world. He gave His life for each of us. He took it up again and became the firstfruits of them that slept. He, as King of Kings, stands triumphant above all other kings. He, as the Omnipotent One, stands above all rulers. He is our comfort, our only true comfort, when the dark shroud of earthly night closes about us as the spirit departs the human form. He is our King, our Lord, our Master, the living Christ, who stands on the right hand of His Father. He lives! He lives, resplendent and wonderful, the living Son of the living God."                                               President Hinckley -- 1 Timothy 6:15:  "Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords".                                                                                          Revelation 17:14"These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful".                                                                                                          Revelation 19:16: -- "And he hath on his vesture and on
his thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS".

I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."

Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration. He is the Restorer of all things.
* * *
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
“Keep on the covenant path,” “Gather Israel,” “Let God prevail,” “Build bridges of understanding,” “Give thanks,” “Increase your faith in Jesus Christ,” “Take charge of your testimony,” and “Become a peacemaker.”

The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today. Because of the restored Priesthood Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

I have loved this spiece of history ever since our Burley Stake President, William Matthews, shared it at a Leadership Meeting in the 1970s.
This is the first time I have seen it in print.

HOLY WORDS:

“When Joseph got the plates, the angel instructed him to carry them back to the hill Cumorah, which he did. Oliver Cowdery went with the Prophet Joseph when he deposited these plates.

“Oliver says that when he and Joseph went there, the hill opened, and they walked into a cave, in which there was a large and spacious room. He says he did not think, at that time, whether they had the light of the sun or artificial light; but that it was just as light as day.

“They laid the plates on a table; it was a large table that stood in the room. Under this table there was a pile of plates as much as two feet high, and there were altogether in this room more plates than probably many wagon loads, they were piled up in the corners and along the walls.

“The first time they went there, the sword of Laban hung upon the wall; but when they went again, it had been taken down and laid upon the table across the gold plates; it was unsheathed, and on it was written these words:

“This sword will never be sheathed again until the kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of our God and His Christ.”

The Book of Mormon covers 1,000 years of the history of ancient America and a third of it has not yet been revealed to us. The Book of Ether alone covers 1,700 years in only 15 chapters. The rest is lining the walls of that cave….and that’s just from the history of one continent of this earth.

Imagine how much more was written about the history of the world that is yet to come forth. This will blow your socks off. James Talmage points out that the prophecy of Christ being born ‘a Nazarene’ (Matthew 2:23) is not found in any of the books of the Bible.

This prophecy along with many books mentioned in the Bible that do not exist therein suggests there are lost scriptures. This also disproves people’s claim that the Bible is complete as a collection of sacred scripture and that continuous revelation is not necessary.

Some of the missing books from the Bible are in existence today and are classed with the Apocrypha but the greater number are unknown. Elder Talmage lists 16 books that are mentioned in the Bible that we do not have (“Jesus the Christ”, p 120). When you consider how many people have lived and how much has transpired from the beginning of time, I am convinced there would have to be more than what has been mentioned.

Do you wonder what’s in all those records we have no access to? Moroni knew. He said there were no greater things made manifest than those that were revealed to Brother of Jared (Ether 4:4). Why have they been hidden from us? Because judging by the small amount of scripture we have been given, we are at the beginning of our faith. We are not ready for the mysteries….

One day we will be given to know ‘greater things’ contained in the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon and that will be ‘when we repent of our iniquity, and become clean before the Lord, and exercise faith in Christ…..even as the Brother of Jared’ (Ether 4:7)

This is a sobering thought that tells us we will not get to read those scriptures without any effort on our part…a serious effort, one that leads to repentance and the manifesting faith like we have never known before….. Are we up to it?
