On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.Walt was also a carpenter at heart--like his carpenter father, Ray Petersen.
Walt called himself "The last of the old-time country doctors."He delivered about 4,000 babies, among fixing broken hips, gall bladders, other surgeries, and even made house calls.As Janie said in his obituary:"He healed many hearts, heads, hands, and everything in-between."
In the 1950s you had to be 20 to serve a mission. This is Walt in August 1954, on the day he was set apart in Salt Lake City
to be a missionary for the
Uruguay-Paraguay Mission.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen...
...their spouses--Julie, John, Jennifer, Jerry--our 39 grandchildren--8 spouses of G-C, and 8 great-grandchildren, including Ingrid Ray born December 4, 2024--for a posterity of 71.

I was just working on my
blog when Lori Ly...

She has followed me since
the March 2018 diagnosis of
RS3PE "Remitting seronegative
symmetric synovitis with pitting edema."
...Lori Ly called me
at 1:30
with the results of my
blood tests from
last Wednesday, Feb 26...
She said there was indication
that I might have a blood
clot in my leg and
wanted my daughter
to take me to an
Emergency Room for an
ultra-sound of my legs
today.
Julie did not hesitate...
within 30 minutes she had me at the...

The nurses were all outstanding--
Kendra, Kylee, Kelsey...
My legs and feet were so swollen
that Kendra was surprised the skin
had not bbroken and begun weeping...
or she worried that it would at any time.

The doctor ordered lasix to be started.
Furosemide (oral route) "Furosemide (Lasix) is given to help treat fluid retention (edema) and swelling that is caused by congestive heart failure, liver disease, kidney disease, or other ..."

It is a strong diuretuc that begins draining
excess water from your body rapidly.
akendra told me to be ready within 10-15
minutes to start having to pee.
It happened within the 10 minutes.
Dr. Ellis is an excellent ER Physician with
a charming bed-side personality.
He got right into several possibilities
of the medical issue going on, after
ultra-sound of both legs determined
there was no blood clot in the legs.
An x-ray was taken of my heart...
I shouldn have written down the names...
The x-ray tech and other techs were
a;ll so kind and efficient atntheir duties...
Congestive heart failure was the
main probable diagnosis...
A CT Scan was ordered to see if
there was a blood clot in the lungs.
There was not.

TUESDAY, MARCH 4, 2025
Family is Everything…

         Today

Dr. Keller.... said an Echo--Ultra-sound of the

heart would be done to see if and how much

congestive heart failure there was.

Dr. Rainwater would be there the next day.

Bruce came twice to fix the TV that kept going

beserk.

That's why the nurses insisted on changing me

to Room 148 from Rm 147.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2025**

Family is Everything…
Day 3 in hospital...
Dr. Rainwater said the Echo of the heart showed that there is no ncongestive heart failure...
So they don't know what caaused all that swelling.

If my oxygen levels stay up today after they take me off of the oxygen, I can go home tomorrow.

Eric and Johnny came to do physical therapy...

Vickie Robertson Hacking posted her wedding line
for their 31st anniversary...
Listening to family book for March...book club
Thanks for coming mornings and evenings, Gary.

The nurse assistants were all very helpful...
I missed Lunch Bunch again...
It was at Mi Ranchito today...

The 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. nurses --
Kristen and Courtney came to
"hand me off" to the 6:30 p.m.
- 6:30 a.m. nurse, Andrea.

The nurse assistant, Roger, came...
I was kept warm
by my cozy Minky Cotour
that Jen & Jerry gave me for my
birthday a year ago.
It got a lot of "Wow!" comments.

        Breakfast was my last meal

for this hospital stay...


Dr. Raintree said I could

be discharged.

Gary came every morning

at 7:00.

Julie came at 10:20 to

take me home...

Dillion pushed the wheelchair

out to the car...

My nurse for that morning said

the surgical-medical unit where

my rooms 147/8 were located

in "the north 40."*

(that's a farmer term--even my

Grampa Huffaker had a section

of his farm in northwest Wendell,

Idaho he called

"the north 40.")

It's the 40 acres the furthest

away from the farm house.

Home by 11:20 a.m.

Tried to capture 3:33, but

it didn't photograph well.

Yesterday we held our semi-annual Stake Conference and one of the topics was related to our worship of Jesus Christ this upcoming Easter Season and the importance of HIS resurrection. We were encouraged to ponder the meaning this has for each of us and our families. We were asked the question about being worthy to live in the presence of God and his Son in their Celestial glory. The topic went to repentance and the discussion was about what formula involving repentance and time would make it possible for us to be worthy to be with them.
Galileo said "Mathmatics is the language of God."
It made me think of Einstein's theory of Relativity E=MC² This theory has stood the test of time and has been proven over and over again. So, I thought if we took the same equation and substituted the variables with Time and repentance and worthiness we would have something like this. Worthiness (W) equals Time (T) times Repentance (R) squared. W=TR² The more we repent per day, month, or year, the more worthy we become.
Section 19 of the Doctrine and Covenants talks about repentance a lot and how if we repent we can be saved from endless punishment and eternal misery. Today I look more positively at becoming more worthy of the merciful judgement of our Savior Jesus Christ.
I hope we can teach our Children and Grand Children the importance of repentance and seeking forgiveness for our sins. If so, we stand to receive a glorious place living in the presence of God.

Dearest friends,
I’m back from visiting my older, non member sister in Florida and my son and family in North Carolina. That trip was not planned this year but my sister really needed a visit so I drove with trepidation ( just because of the world situation) to Panama City Beach and actually had a wonderful time together. My (pesky) son moved his family of six from Harvest Hills Saratoga Springs to NC last year; the four teenaged Grands were not happy with that move so visiting them was an added unexpected delight for me.

I’m really excited about our lesson tomorrow on Charity and the following week on Receiving the Ordinances and Blessings of the Temple. We won’t meet on April 1 (spring break) then we resume on April 8 on the lesson I am now studying and preparing, The Law of Sacrifice and Consecration. Preparing these three lessons has been an answer to my personal quest for greater holiness and increased understanding of worship.
