 TRACES OF TIME . . .                           {Last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.}

Joseph Smith Quotes... about time:“The great Jehovah contemplated the whole of the events connected with the earth, pertaining to the plan of salvation, before it rolled into existence, or ever 'the morning stars sang together' for joy; the past, the present, and the future were and are, with Him, one eternal 'now."

"Time moves slowly, but passes quickly.                               The Color Purple” by Alice Walker, 1982

"The magical, supernatural force
that is with us every second is time.
We can't even comprehend it.

 It's such an illusion,

it's such a strange thing."

— Anthony Hopkins

“Why were the shepherds the first to know about the birth of the Savior? Excellent message from Todd Parker, professor of religion at BYU...

“I don’t know if you have considered Jesus’s birth in the light of His being the Lamb of God. To whom did the angels go to announce the birth of the Lamb of God? Specific shepherds were assigned to tend the flocks of sheep to be used in temple sacrifice. Only certified firstborn lambs could be used. The shepherds were the eyewitnesses of which lambs were firstborn. So when the Lamb of God was born, where did the angels go? To the shepherds. Why? Because that was their job—to witness the birth of firstborn lambs.”

https://speeches.byu.edu/.../true-doctrine-understood.../.

"They also placed those temple lambs in protective linens to keep them from blemish and laid them in a stone Manger. When the angels came to the shepards, they knew exactly where to find Him."

The Classics...  {15}
a cHRISTMAS cAROL - 1984 VERSION
Geroge C. Scott as Scrooge

A Christmas Carol - 1984 – George C. Scott

“The film remains among the most beloved of the several adaptations of A Christmas Carol.[ John J. O'Connor of the New York Times gave a positive review, praising the cinematography, production sets and the performances (especially Scott). Scott was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Special for his portrayal of Scrooge.] In 2009, novelist and essayist Louis Bayard, labelled the adaptation "the definitive version of a beloved literary classic", praising its fidelity to Dickens' original story, production sets, the strength of the supporting cast, and especially Scott's performance as Scrooge.

This is my favorite version so far...

I think Gary feels the same.

Family is Everything…

Our friends, Rex & Marjorie Gerratt

Rex & Marjorie Gerratt...

...first Temple President and

Temple Matron of the

Twin Falls Idaho Temple

2008-2010

Marjorie Crane Gerratt

May 24, 1937 - Dec. 18, 2024 – Age 87

Date of Service: Dec. 28, 2024

Watch the Webcast

BURLEY – Marjorie Crane Gerratt was born in Burley, Idaho, on May 24, 1937, to Elmer LeRoy and Mary Cottrell Crane. She passed away in her sleep the morning of Dec. 18, 2024.

She grew up in the Unity area and was the class president of Burley High School during her junior and senior years of school. Marjorie married her high school sweetheart and neighbor, Donald Rex Gerratt, on Nov. 9, 1955, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. This past November, they celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Her life was centered in the gospel of Jesus Christ and raising nine children on the dairy farm. She grew and preserved a large garden, quilted, and taught her children to play the piano. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and enjoyed sharing her talent with others. Marjorie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many church callings, Blazer Scouts being a particular favorite, and she served as the ward organist until earlier this year.

She loved to travel and experience the world. She hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon (and back up!) in her 50s and has traveled to many countries including China, Australia, Antarctica, Hong Kong, and Egypt.

She and Rex were mission leaders in the Philippines from 1996 until 1999. While there, she learned a new culture and loved the Filipinos with all her heart. It was with joy that she returned to the Philippines while Dad served in the Philippines Area Presidency from 2003 until 2007.

When they returned, Mom was called as the Matron of the Twin Falls Idaho Temple from 2007 until 2010. She loved the temple and getting to know the many sisters she served with. She continued to serve as a temple worker for many years.

Her love of family was felt by all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always remembering everyone’s birthday with a gift.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Rex Gerratt; children, Mary Ann Clayton (Dan), Alan Gerratt (Kayla), Darlene Fish (Glen), Dale Gerratt (Becky), Carolyn Wood (Kevin), Lynn Gerratt (Shalawn), David Gerratt (Bonnie), Steven Gerratt (Michelle), and Donald Gerratt (Julie); 43 grandchildren; and 83 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Mary Crane; her seven siblings, Mildred Crane, Lynn Crane, Paul Crane, Elma Bowen, Mary Lou Funk, Calvin Crane and Dan Crane; and grandsons, Spencer Gerratt and John Clayton.

The family expresses their great love and appreciation to the many doctors, caregivers and hospice care that she received over this past year.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Burley 4th Ward, located at 515 E. 16th St., in Burley. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service, at the church.

A live webcast of the Funeral Service will be available and maintained at the following link:

Mom, you were the quiet strength and support in all of our lives. Thank you for all you have done for us and for showing us how to live loving, industrious, and Christ-centered lives. We love you!

 Condolences for Marjorie Crane Gerratt

From Eileen – Dec 20

President/Elder Gerratt and family. We send deep, heart-felt condolences on the passing of your eternal sweetheart, mother, gm, and g-gm. Walt and I loved being with Rex and Marjorie on several occasions —some official—during the eventful days of diverting a flood in 1984 (hope I got the right year) and some in your home and in our home. Marjorie had a fun laugh.  We admired your having nine upstanding children.  And we were blessed to have your son, Steve as our Bishop during our last four years in Burley 2014-2018. I remember Steve’s fun comment about when he and his brother Don were the last two living at home: “We got a fourth of the pie then.” Marjorie was a wonderful cook, plus wonderful in many ways—a truly elect lady. May the Savior’s love comfort you at this tender time.                                                        Love from Eileen Petersen and family.

Marjorie Crane Gerratt

 Condolences for Marjorie Crane Gerratt

From Paul & Susan Young:   Marjorie and Rex Gerratt were hand-picked by the Lord to open our brand new Twin Falls Temple in 2008. We watched first-hand, the beginnings of that temple, and how their leadership inspired and united us all. Sister Gerratt’s answer to most of the questions asked was, “Use common sense and inspiration.” Those are words to live by! Marjorie was so easy to love and taught by example. She will be missed! We mourn with Rex and family and send our love.

From Randy Pangilinan :  My mission mom. I love her sweet smile and sweet voices when we are talking about my health and work in my area during my mission. Thank you for all you do in the Philippines Manila mission.

From Winnie F.M:  We love you, Sister Geratt. Your kindness and love will forever remain in our hearts and memories. Our heartfelt condolences to the family; may our Heavenly Father bless and comfort you during this time.

From Judy McCurdy:  We loved her and enjoyed serving with them in the temple. She is one remarkable and beautiful lady. Sweetest couple ever. True angels.

From Jan Manning:-- She has lived a great life. I worked with Sister Gerratt when they were called to Twin Falls temple. She was an inspiration to me. My prayers are with you.

From Susan Tuft:  A great and noble lady, she has all the qualities of a queen! How she will be missed!
