Note from Eileen: You will notice I call                              my blog: "Traces of Time..."

On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020 at age 86.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 9 spouses married to our grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 due in April and posterity to come.

So our posterity now numbers 66. Number 67 due in April.

And each GALAXY has roughly 100 BILLION STARS.   Also, each STAR has at least 1 PLANET.                      Now how many galaxies do you think                           there can be in that picture?                                             And this is just a photograph of a                                     very little parcel of the universe.                                        This makes me lose sleep, thinking about how so insignificant we really are.

Wednesday night movie with Gary
The Philadelphia Story from 1940
with Katharine Hepburn [age 33]
and Cary Grant [age 36].

The Philadelphia Story is a 1940 American romantic comedy film[2][3] starring Cary GrantKatharine HepburnJames Stewart, and Ruth Hussey. Directed by George Cukor, the film is based on the 1939 Broadway play of the same name by Philip Barry,[4] about a socialite whose wedding plans are complicated by the simultaneous arrival of her ex-husband and a tabloid magazine journalist. The socialite, played by Hepburn in both productions, was inspired by Helen Hope Montgomery Scott (1904–1995), a Philadelphia heiress known for her hijinks, who married a friend of playwright Barry.[5]

Written for the screen by Donald Ogden Stewart and an uncredited Waldo Salt, it is considered one of the best examples of a comedy of remarriage, a genre popular in the 1930s and 1940s in which a couple divorce, flirt with outsiders, and then remarry—a useful story-telling device at a time when divorce was scandalous and the depiction of extramarital affairs was blocked by the Production Code.[6][7]

The film was Hepburn's first big hit following several flops, which had placed her on a 1938 list of actors considered to be "box office poison" compiled by Manhattan movie theater owner Harry Brandt.[8] Hepburn acquired the film rights to the play, which she had also starred in, with the help of Howard Hughes[9] in order to control it as a vehicle for her screen comeback.[10] According to a Turner Broadcasting documentary MGM: When the Lion Roars, after Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer purchased the film rights, they were skeptical about Hepburn's box office appeal, so MGM studio head Louis B. Mayer took an unusual precaution by engaging two A-list male stars (Grant and Stewart) to support Hepburn.

Nominated for six Academy Awards, the film won two: James Stewart for Best Actor, and Donald Ogden Stewart for Best Adapted Screenplay

The Philadelphia Story was produced by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry in 1995.[12]

MGM remade the film in 1956 as a musical, retitled High Society, starring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly, and Frank Sinatra.[11]

Always love having Gary
come over for movie night.

January 26, 2024

To: General Authorities; General Officers; Area Seventies; Stake, District, and Mission Presidencies; Bishoprics; and Branch Presidencies

Meeting Schedule: Easter Sunday and a Sunday near Christmas Day

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Each year, Church services and meetings should be limited to sacrament meeting only on Easter Sunday and on a Sunday before or after Christmas Day. If Christmas is not on a Sunday, stake and district presidencies decide whether to hold this sacrament meeting before or after Christmas.

In addition, stake and district presidencies may consult with bishops and branch presidents to determine if there is a need to adjust start times for sacrament meetings in order to best accommodate the needs of members.

Please know of our love and appreciation to you for your dedicated service.

Sincerely yours,

Steve came at 5:30 and
we had a fun evening...
We rendezvoused with
Debra and went...
to The Wick Lab in Draper...
...to make candles.
I went planning to do
a lavendar candle, but
I could smell
the peach scent better.
Steve did a key lime and
_____ scent.
Debra did a red current bush scent
combined with vanilla, I think.
Then because the wait at Oak Wood was
over an hour, and 30-minutes at
The Good Wood BBQ, we went
to La Fontaine in Riverton.
(They texted that our table was
ready at Good Wood when we
pulled up to LaFontaine--so
it turned out to be just a
7-minute wait, but we stayed
at LaFontaine.)
The fajitas, enchiladas,
tacos, and tostitoes
were delicious...
...as was the
piña colada - virgin--
and the two desserts we shared:
flan and fried ice cream.

Thanks, Steve & Debra for a really fun outing!

Sunday Dinner: Jan 28th. 4 pm.

Please RSVP if you haven’t already.

Also, please be thinking about this question

to share with the group if you would like:

“Over the last year or so, what is a high point,

or a low point, or a turning point in your life?”

You can just pick one of those to share with

the group. No pressure, you can pass if you

want. It’s just a way that we can get to know

each other in a deeper way.

See you in a few weeks!

Jacee started...then everyone shared a turning point in their life this year.

A delightful evening with Steve,
Jacee, Michael, Seth,
Sarah, and Carter.
I have been wondering about
the resurrection a lot since my
eternal sweetheart graduated
to heaven on 8-21-'20.
I shared that a turning point for me
was when I learned how the
resurrection is going to work
from this quote by
President Nelson:

"The Lord who created us in the first place surely has power to do it again. The same necessary elements now in our bodies will still be available—at His command. The same unique genetic code now embedded in each of our living cells will still be available to format new ones then. The miracle of the resurrection, wondrous as it will be, is marvelously matched by the miracle of our creation in the first place…”

--Russell M. Nelson, “Doors of Death,” General Conference, April 5, 1992.

Thanks again,  Jacee for driving me.

I didn't get a photo of Steve tonight, so here's one from the
