Traces of Time . . . December 12-18, 2022

Traces of Time . . .             {Last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.} On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and posterity to come.

Daily Scripture: For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round. - Doctrine and Covenants 3:2
Daily Quote: God is not dead, and he is not an absentee landlord. God is not uncaring, or capricious, or cantankerous. The first and great commandment on earth is for us to love God with all our heart, might, mind, and strength because surely the first and great promise in heaven is that he will always love us that way. - Jeffrey R. Holland

Nick has worked with Dr. Goff
and Dr. Faber for 7 years now.
Although he may have rather
been skiing in the
new powder today.
We had fair roads going and
returning. The snow really
started after we got home at 4:00.

Family is Everything…
Institute at 10:00
Camie Williams and
Betsy Jones.
Betsy taught today.
She told us she loved Christmas.
This is the charming
Christmas scene she shared.
Closer view.
I had never heard of
The Dickens'  Village.
"Christmasitis..."
"Repentance and Forgiveness"
was the lesson today. Who better to
describe this than Scrooge's ghostly partner, Jacob Marley.
I didn't get a photo of the
Ghosts Past,  Present, and
Future in Betsy's lesson...
Here's one I just found,
(They're not as good as what
she had.)

Sins of Comission and Omission.
Neal A. Maxwell...
President Russell M. Nelson...
"Repentance is a resplendent gift..."
"...in order to be forgiven"
--Alma 35:15-17
We are all prodigals...
What are a broken heart
and a contrite spirit?
Why must we exercise faith in Christ
in order to repent?
"The Letter"
"I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will..."
"We must recognize and
acknowledge angry feelings..."
""Washed clean..."
"..with power to cleanse the earth."
"He came to rescue every soul,
from death, from sin, from shame..."
Betsy is an excellent teacher.
My Institute photo today.
Thank you, Heather, for
driving Carol and me today.
I left both photos for you to decide
which one you want to keep.
I was happy you had time to come and
see the Christmas tree my seven
children gave me for my birthday
of December 15th.
I told them I wouldn't be
"really old" until I turned
85 next year.
Walt got me this lavender Santa
when we were serving in the
San Salvador Temple 2011-2014.
The Santas I've just collected
throughout the years.
The nativities we have collected in the
11 different countries we have served...
...four missions together for 9 1/2 years
in Mexico, Central and South America.
This nativity is from Israel when we got to
be there ten days in November 1989
when our son, Steven, had a semester
at the BYU Jerusalem Center.
Six of our seven served missions.
We let the two who did not serve out
of the United States choose a study
abroad.  They both chose the
BYU Jerusalem Center.

Daily Scripture: For intelligence cleaveth unto intelligence; wisdom receiveth wisdom; truth embraceth truth; virtue loveth virtue; light cleaveth unto light; mercy hath compassion on mercy and claimeth her own; justice continueth its course and claimeth its own; judgment goeth before the face of him who sitteth upon the throne and governeth and executeth all things. - Doctrine and Covenants 88:40
Daily Quote: As we intensify our faith in Christ, we receive light in intensifying measure until it dispels all darkness. - Timothy J. Dyches

earth.

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this December 18th,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."

***  *** *** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.  Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

*** *** ***
Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
