Lorna's sister, Nylene Gorringe Budge, graduated to heaven today.

Nylene Gorringe Budge

1946-2026

Lila Nylene Gorringe Budge (79), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 23, 2026, after a short battle with acute leukemia.

Nylene was born on May 15, 1946, in Oakley, Cassia County, Idaho, to Lila Rachel Hale and Alfred Nile Gorringe. She was raised alongside five siblings: David Hale, Kaye (Shelley), Mary Jo (Carlile), Lorna (Coombs), and Fred Gorringe.

She graduated from Burley High School and later participated in a study abroad program in Mexico. Upon her return, she married her high school sweetheart, Steven Rulon Budge, on December 20, 1967, in the Logan Utah Temple.

Nylene graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Brockbank Elementary and Park Elementary until she chose to stay home to raise her family.

She was blessed with four children and devoted herself to teaching them through 4‑H and Scouting. She served 45 years in 4‑H and 35 years in the Scouting program, earning the “Influential Women in Scouting” award. Through these programs, she taught her own children — and a generation of neighborhood kids — meaningful, hands-on skills and life lessons.

As her children grew older, Nylene returned to work and spent 22 years as an office manager at a doctor’s office. In her later years, she volunteered at Geneva Elementary, tutoring early readers. Of all her roles, her most cherished was being a grandma. She regularly planned and hosted “Cousin Camp” — filled with crafts, activities, tea parties, and sleepovers — creating treasured memories for her grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Nylene was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in various callings, including stake and ward Relief Society and Primary presidencies, as well as in the ward Young Women presidency. Her favorite calling was Primary teacher. She also served as a Relief Society advisor in a BYU Young Single Adult ward, where she developed deep and lasting friendships. Together, Steve and Nylene served a 3½‑year Church service mission as Addiction Recovery missionaries and found great joy and purpose in that work.

Nylene had a passion for preserving memories. What began as a love of genealogy and family history grew into the creation of beautifully detailed scrapbooks. She donated countless handmade greeting cards to various organizations, and her grandchildren were always the lucky recipients of her most elaborate creations.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Elliot Hale.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Steve; and her four children: Tori Bennett (Zane), Eric Budge (Taunya), Emily Taylor (Doug), and Angela Page (Jon). She is the proud grandmother of fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Kaye, Mary Jo, Lorna, and Fred.

A viewing will be held Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Walker-Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North in Orem. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 810 East 600 North. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30–10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the medical professionals at LDS Hospital, Bristol Hospice, and Christina and her team at Senior Partners for their exceptional care and compassion.

Our Tuesday night movie was:

"TRAIN DREAMS"

Writing for RogerEbert.com, Brian Tallerico gave the film 4 stars out of 4, calling it "a meditation on the beauty of everyone and everything", and commenting that "the reason it's one of the best [films] of the year is how [Bentley] threads the needle between brutal reality and wistful poetry."

Train Dreams is a 2025 American period drama... based on the 2011 novella by Denis Johnson. The film stars Joel EdgertonFelicity Jones…with narration from Will Patton.

Train Dreams had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2025, and was released in select cinemas in the United States on November 7, 2025, before its streaming debut by Netflix on November 21, 2025. The film received critical acclaim, with praise going to Bentley's direction and Edgerton's performance. Among its accolades, the film was named as one of the top ten films of 2025 by both the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute. For his performance, Edgerton was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.[2] It received four nominations at the 98th Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Plot

The film recounts the 80 years of the life of Robert Grainier around Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Arriving in the area on the Great Northern Railway as an orphaned child,

We liked the movie a lot!

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this

 Great Plan operational.

At the end of this
March 1st, 2026

I pray you have had a                           restful, peaceful, and spiritual     Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as                                my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.  He loves us just as we are at this very moment.

*** *** ***

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.

“An omnicompetent God leaves all mortals free to choose, but how grateful we should be that God chose long, long ago to rescue and to resurrect all His children through the Atonement of His Son. Nevertheless, some reject and many are indifferent to these and other divine beckonings, mostly because they are too caught up in the cares of the world. They are strangers to the Savior, who is far from the thoughts and intents of their hearts.”

How Choice a Seer!

KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS".

TIME......we belongto eternity...Neal A. Maxwell
On this blog I share with family and friends my thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

*All that I am or ever hope to be,
I not only owe to my

angel mother and father...
...but to my wonderful husband,
Walter Ray Petersen.
For the 59 years we lived
together on this earth,
I pinched myself that
I was the lucky gal
whom he chose to be
 his
eternal sweetheart.
I still can hardly
believe it.

Walt called himself...

"The last of the old-time country doctors."

He delivered about 4,000 babies, among fixing broken hips, other surgeries, and even made house calls. As Janie said in his obituary:"He healed many hearts, heads, hands, and everything in-between."He not only healed medically, but he healed spiritually as a bishop, stake president, mission president, temple president, patriarch, doctor, friend, husband, father, grandfather--an all around exceptional person. Our friend, Jeff Rasmussen, said: "There will never be another like Walt Petersen in our town."

In the 1950s you had to be 20 to serve a mission. This is Walt in August 1954, on the day he was set apart in Salt Lake City
to be a missionary.

One of Walt's happiest of happy places--
 second only to being
with me and our children--
was as a pilot flying...

Our first plane was a piper Cherokee...
Then in a six-seater Cessna high-wing, turbo-charged airplane. 4824 Foxtrot was the call number.  {He owned the plane with two partners).
