Traces of Time . . . November 25-December 1, 2024

 TRACES OF TIME . . .                           {Last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.}

Joseph Smith Quotes... about time:“The great Jehovah contemplated the whole of the events connected with the earth, pertaining to the plan of salvation, before it rolled into existence, or ever 'the morning stars sang together' for joy; the past, the present, and the future were and are, with Him, one eternal 'now."

"Time moves slowly, but passes quickly.                               The Color Purple” by Alice Walker, 1982

"The magical, supernatural force
that is with us every second is time.
We can't even comprehend it.

 It's such an illusion,

it's such a strange thing."

— Anthony Hopkins

Note from Eileen: You will notice I call

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen...

...their spouses-- Shawn, Julie, John, Jennifer, Jerry--our 39 grandchildren--9 spouses of G-C, and 7 great-grandchildren, with one on the way in December--for a posterity of 70.

Family is Everything…
Lunch Bunch was cancelled today...

You experience a trip three times:

when you dream of it,

when you go,

and when you remember it.

Steve is picking me up at 10:00
to rendezvous with family
in Rexburg to spend
Thanksgiving with the
Fisher Family...
We are stopping at Maddox to
pick up the pies...
We stopped in Kaysville to rendezvous briefly with two Prescott cousins...
Linda from Texas visiing her sister, Susie.
Photo: Linda, Katie--Susie's daughter--, Susie, and Tessa--Katie's daughter.
It was pie-making day.
Here is the list of the 17 pies being
made from scratch--yesterday
and today.
Katie drove up from Sandy.
Annie, Susie & Wilf's other daughter,
lives just 11 houses from them.
Pie Night on Thanksgiving Eve
started back when their kids--
they also have two sons--
Scott and Peter--wanted to
have their high school
friends over for pie...
...the
night before Thanksgiving...
...because who wants to have pie
after the big Thanksgiving dinner?!...
Susie said then for a few days
after Thanksgiving she...
 ...has pie for breakfast,
lunch, and supper...
Steve, Linda, Katie,
Susie, and Tessa.
We then headed north...
...to Maddox.
It was as busy as ever...

Janie had ordered four pies
under Steve's name.
They didn't have a
"Steve" Petersen...
but under the 7 Petersen names
on the order list, there was a
"Beve" Petersen ordered
from an Idaho phone number.
So "Beve" brought the pies
out to the pickup to be on
our way to Idaho.
Just before the Idaho Falls
city limits I tried to get a photo...
at first blocked by a load of hay...

...of the
Melaluca Castle.

We arrived at Greystone
at 4:20 p.m.
for a
Happy Thanksgiving Eve

in Rexburg

We helped peel apples for Janie's
homemade pies...
Steve won the longest single
peel contest.
The aroma of apple pies
baking is a sure sign of
Thanksgiving...
I didn't get a photo of the
yummy stew and cornbread
but...
...this Bradshaw's Spun Honey
brought back happy memories
of my hometown of
Wendell, Idaho...
WHERE BRADSHAW'S HONEY
WAS PRODUCED AND
MARKETED.

Obituary Douglas Bradshaw                                                                        January 6, 1910 — November 7, 2011Douglas B. “Buzz” Bradshaw

Douglas B. “Buzz” Bradshaw passed away on November 7, 2011 at his home in Ketchum, ID, just two months before celebrating his 102nd birthday.

Buzz was born to Grace and R. D. “Rex” Bradshaw on Jan. 6, 1910 in Payette, ID, where he, his brother Ken and sister Edith spent their childhood. His official name of Douglas only lasted until he got his first pair of the popular Buster Brown shoes; from then on, the family began calling him “Buss”. Later, when he became known for his honey, this nickname was altered slightly to “Buzz”.

Rex had learned his beekeeping in Long Island, New York, where his family had emigrated from Ireland when he was an infant. As a young man, Rex moved to Idaho and started a honey business in 1905. His children were involved from a young age. Edith graded the honey, and each year, Buzz and Ken left school a month early to help when the honeybees began to swarm.

After graduating from Payette High School, Buzz and Ken took turns attending college one year and spending the alternate year selling honey from a Model A Ford Truck. Buzz first studied at the University of Idaho, but later transferred to Stanford University, where he earned his letter in gymnastics and graduated from the School of Business in 1933 with a degree in Business and Economics.
He then returned to Idaho to join his father and brother in the family’s newly-formed honey-producing company, R. D. Bradshaw & Sons, located in Wendell, IDAHO.

Eldred G. Smith , Church Patriarch, 1947-1979

Understanding Patriarchal Blessing, Brough and Grassley, Horizon Publishers, 1984, page 67, 68

In a talk at the Institute at the University of Utah about Patriarchal Blessings:

"When I talk about blessings being eternal and what can be accomplished I think of the time element involved…not just between birth and until they are thirty or forty or fifty…or not from birth until death. Think of mortality and the time we have of accomplishing the purposes and developments that mortality gives us; the time between birth and resurrection. Now, some people say, “so and so was given such and such in his blessing and he died before it was ever fulfilled.” Well, so what? That isn’t the end of his life or the end of what can be accomplished as the result of mortality. The purpose of mortality, or what we can accomplish here is between birth and the resurrection."

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this

 Great Plan operational.

At the end of this
December 1st,

I pray you have had a                           restful , peaceful, and spiritual     Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as                                my testimony to you...

The Godhead consists of
The Father,
The Son,
and the
Holy Ghost...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just as we are
at this very moment.
Daily Scripture: Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. - Psalm 150:6
Daily Quote: I think the Latter-day Saints have a great obligation pressing in upon them to rejoice in the Lord, to praise him for his goodness and grace, to ponder his eternal truths in their hearts, and to set their hearts on righteousness. - Bruce R. McConkie

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.

I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."
Daily Scripture: And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost. - 3 Nephi 12:6
Daily Quote: We have been promised the constant companionship of the third member of the Godhead and hence the privilege of receiving revelation for our own lives. - Sheri L. Dew

Daily Scripture: This life became a probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God; a time to prepare for that endless state which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead. - Alma 12:24
Daily Quote: I invite you to diligently learn about and appreciate the eternal importance of temple covenants, temple ordinances, and temple worship as you strive to come unto the Savior. - David A. Bednar

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.  Because of the restored Priesthood Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.
