WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2021   Family is Everyhing...                                     We had Ladies' Lunch at
Jim's Family Restaurant in American Fork

As always the food was delicious!
Only one got breakfast this time.
Judy said they have the best salmon
of anywhere she's eaten.
The owner said they fly it in fresh
from Alaska.
We could see Mt. Timpanogos from
the window.
The five who could come today are
Judy, Tammy, Eileen, Linda, and
Shauna. We're always glad when
it's close enough to where Shauna
works so she can come.

Thank you, Kathie, for driving
Linda and me.
We missed Sharon and were
happy to hear she was able to
come home from the hospital today.
We are all praying she will continue
to get stronger and recover from
the stroke she had last week.
Her two daughters have come
from Washington state to be
with her, along with her son
Brandon and his wife Stephanie,
with whom she and Howard live
by and share a driveway.

For our Wednesday night movie,
Gary and I watched the
second half of "Reds,"
about the Russian Revolution in 1917,
1918 and 1919.

where I got my 2nd Covid19 vaccine.

That's not quite 7 years ago.
Sam is so tall now!

Today I got my A1C blood test taken.
It almost didn't happen because the gal
drawing the blood tried three times
and no blood would come out of my vein.
She finally had another gal come who
found a good vein in my left arm.

Susan Toner came to Utah to
visit her son Kevin and family.
She took me to lunch and we
talked and talked. She, Kenna, and
I used to go to lunch together every
May and December to celebrate our birthdays.
It was wonderful to re-connect with her.
She and Dave and their family have been
a great part of Burley, as were her Dad and
Mom--Blaine and Ruth Curtis. I was a visiting
teaching partner with Ruth. She was an
"Elect Lady" a**s is Susan.

Family is Everything...
Sunday
It was our half of the ward's
turn to go to Church.
Riley Allen, a young woman,
spoke on "love at home."
She quoted from Elder Wirthlin.
I miss him being in the Quorum of the Apostles
Then James Hoffman, a high councilor, spoke
on "Love at Home."
He advised us to take notes...not on what
he said but what the Holy Ghost gave
us impressions to do about our
life from what he said.
I thought this was interesting:
"The Handbook 2 and
The Family Proclamation are a
current Doctrine and Covenants for us."
It's marvelous to go to Church
with Jacee, Maddie, Rigdon...
and Julie, John, and Jackson.
Jackson does a great job
of blessing the Sacrament.

In our online Relief Society, our
president, Chelsea Smith, led a
discussion about what we need
as sisters to feel needed, and
how we can help others
feel loved and needed.
Sister Samantha Warner said she was
sad to see that only 38 of the
150 Relief Sisters in our ward
were online for this meeting.
Several shared good experiences of
how other sisters had helped them.
Kim Beecher made a poignent point about
our asking for help. Heavenly Father and
The Savior, who know our every need and desire,
have still instructed us to Ask Them.

Gary, Steve and Natalie, came to dinner.
Gary said: "I don't remember when I last
had a Sunday roast beef dinner. It's so good!"
How nice to be together after
not gathering for so long...
Now the guys will...
...do the dishes.
I love the way the afternoon sun
shines into the kitchen window.
I asked them to line up for a photo.

** I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and
the Atonement of Jesus Christ that makes
this Great Plan operational.

MONDAY, MARCH 1, 2021 Family is Everything...

This is for March 1, 2021
Today I have been diagnosed with
Macular degeneration

An eye disease that causes vision loss.
Macular degeneration causes loss in the center of the field of vision.
In dry macular degeneration, the center of the retina deteriorates.
With wet macular degeneration, leaky blood vessels grow under the retina.
Blurred vision is a key symptom.
A special combination of vitamins and minerals (AREDS formula)
may reduce disease progression. Surgery may also be an option.

There is no cure,
but...
...The Good News
It can be treated with injections that
will keep me from going blind.
I received my first eye injection today.
(It was not as bad as I expected. My eye
was numbed and there was no pain. It took
less than 2 seconds.)

David--Dr. Petersen--saw a spot on my retina
when he did an eye exam on me Jan. 28.
He had me make an appointment with the
retina specialists who are in the same
medical building as his office at Rocky
Mountain Eye Care.

Today Gary drove me to my appointment.
Thank you, Gary, for taking all that time.
I was there from 1:50 p.m. to 5:20 p.m.--
3 1/2 hours.
Dr. Mitchell J. Goff made the diagnosis,
confirmed the diagnosis, and gave me an
eye injection.
He said it is good that this has been diagnosed
in its very early stage. Thank you, David, for
discovering this in your thorough eye exam you
did for me four weeks ago.

My left eye has dry macular degeneration and he
will keep a close watch on it in case it turns into
wet macular degeneration.

I am thankful for doctors who have taken so much
time, study, and work to know how to diagnose and
treat these diseases.

And I am thankful for the medicine that can treat
these diseases.

I am thankful for your prayers that have helped me
and will continue to help me.

My Grandfather Huffaker was nearly blind from
macular degeneration when he died at age 90.
My Uncle Don Huffaker has it now, he is age 92.

My sister, Janice, age 71, has had it since 2010--
11 years now, and has been given eye injections
since then. She did have a time when she could go without injections, but then had to have them monthly, then every two months. Tomorrow Dr. Faber (in the same office as Dr. Goff) will determine if she can go every three months.

So you sons and daughters--and grandchildren-- need to tell your eye doctor that macular degeneration runs in our family and should
be closely watched for.

with a smily face emoji.
Then several replied that we
were all happy to hear that
you are getting stronger.
I texted:
"Sharon, please know we
have all been praying for you--
Ladies' Lunch sisters united!
We love you and love that
you are getting stronger
every day."
We have missed you!
